I think you are seeing, as evident by this thread, that as the younger generation is getting older you are seeing less tolerance for the race card being flung around at will. Sure it wasnt a smart thing to say, but it seems this is getting WAY blown out of proportion and I think he apologized...which he should.. and get over it now. Now they keep parading any black person they can find in front of a camera to ask them about IMus..IMUS? who gives a fuck about IMUS last week? Its absurd, and the younger generations are seeing rev al and jesse as the fools they are, and just trying to stir up the race pot to stay in power.

4/10/2007 10:58:08 PM
Seriously. What the fuck does race have to do with this? Imus called the girls ugly, not a racial slur...

4/10/2007 11:10:38 PM
They were talking like half their team went down in a plane crash.
4/10/2007 11:12:50 PM

4/10/2007 11:43:24 PM
i notices that you dickshits who are trying to minimize the fact that a nationally syndicated talk show host with a huge fanbase, called the entire Rutgers team "nappy headed" "(w)ho(re)s" and "jigaboos"are the same dickshits who were hollering about tarheel basketball "niggers" in Sports Talk after they kicked our ass in the ACC championship.yall are some real class acts.

Sharpton is a pretty clever and funny guy. not only was he entertaining during the 2000 debates, he actually made some really good points.i also, dont know why right wing nutjobs like hook and pals feel so threatened by him. i think its the same reason why Hillary is their #1 bugbear: inferiority complex related to their ED or otherwise abnormal penises.seriously, its all i can come up with.
4/11/2007 3:29:49 AM
I am really puzzled by this particular media circus. I just don't understand why what he said matters in a broad social context. I can totally understand if the Rutgers women want him to apologize to them, in particular -- but surely that is between Imus and Rutgers. But for it to become symbolic of race relations in general -- to the point of requiring Al Sharpton's august presence -- that is truly baffling. He's not an opinion leader. He's a shock jock. Nobody takes him as an authority on anything; it's pulp humor. I know that some people and organizations believe that everyone in the media has some overarching public responsibility. But, in my view, that's a very "old school" point of view. This is the twenty-first century. We have cable, we have blogs, we have all forms of old and new media. There's plenty of competition and oversight to drag down racist hacks. We don't need some monolithic "public defense" to filter out hacks. These firestorms of controversy -- they don't work. Howard Stern was beaten silly for indecency; he just ran off to satellite and made a fortune. In many ways, forcing these "jocks" out of the old media models just forces them to be more creative.I say -- if you don't like Don Imus, then don't listen to him. Write the advertisers. Blog about how evil he is. But ... don't expect the media to make this a multi-day, front-page story based on some dubious social importance; not when we have kids dying every day in Iraq. That is the height of "shock jock" hackery.
4/11/2007 4:16:36 AM
^^ I've got a right nut for you, joe_schmuck. Here are just a few reasons that Sharpton should STFU:1.
4/11/2007 5:09:10 AM
^^A-men Smoker. Hos is something that is used in music and other media ALL the time. Its not like he called them a bunch of dirty niggers. They may have been offended and he may feel the need to apologize, but this feigned national outrage by the black community it ridiculous. Where is the outrage at all these rappers talking about degrading women in their lyrics? Jesse Jackson tried to pin domestic violence on Don Imus. But how many black women from the Rutgers team listen to Imus? Pretty sure none. Bet they hear a lot more degradation of women on any rap station they listen to though. I agree. Don Imus is not being forcefed to anybody. He's on cable TV and terrestrial talk radio. If Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson are worried about this being inciteful and hate speech on the airwaves, what about any black talkers who are militant anti-white and say terrible things about white people on a daily basis. That is racist, hurtful, and degrading, yet Jesse and Al have no outrage for them? White people don't care because we can turn the damn radio dial. Apparently black people don't understand that though.
4/11/2007 8:06:43 AM
^^ You're plucking out things that Sharpton did a somewhat lengthy time ago, that he has recompensed for. He's a changed man from those times.Lots of our politicians have skeletons in their closets, Bush included. This Jewish website even has this to say about Sharpton regarding the 1995 thing you posted:

want something more recent? look at the duke lacrosse BS.The boys had to be guilty. Sharpton claimed these ''rich white boys'' attacked a ''black girl'' and if there weren't arrests immediately there would be no peace. The entire black community of Durham had been whipped into a frenzy. Town hall meetings were filled with Durham residents demanding Mike Nifong file charges against the accused. I wonder if Rev AL, is on his way to durham to apologize to the INNOCENT? doubtful
4/11/2007 10:19:04 AM
id blame that more on nifong than sharpton..
4/11/2007 10:39:27 AM
so you blame sharpton running his mouth and rushing to judgement on nifong? Ok, I think Im done with you.
4/11/2007 10:42:25 AM
sharpton doesnt care about ruining the lives of a few duke kids since they're white and the supposed victim was blackjust like he didnt care about ruining the life of Steven Pagones by calling him a racist and rapist just because Brawley's crazy ass said soSharpton (and Jesse Jackson as well) are like drug dealers who preach that drugs are wrong...oh they preach the right message alright (that racism is bad) but they completely exploit and blow things out of proportion to further their own agendas and bank accounts, all the while perpetuating racism]
4/11/2007 11:05:31 AM
Some of you are un-fucking-believable! What Imus said was in very poor taste, but it was in jest. The comments listed above that Sharpton and Jackson have said were very serious. Some here seem to picking and choosing what to be outraged about.
4/11/2007 11:13:43 AM
just remember kids. if someone is racist, blame jesse!
4/11/2007 11:21:21 AM
just remember kids, if someone can play the race card and blow meaningless shit out of proportion, call Jesse!somehow radio callers yesterday were like "these Rutgers girls have become my daughters" and shit like that...well tell your fucking daughters to turn the other cheek and do the same yourself

Al Sharpton Defends Himself Against Cocaine Deal Allegations"(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)REV. AL SHARPTON, NATIONAL ACTION NETWORK: So what kind of time limit are we dealing with, with this?FBI AGENT: The coke?SHARPTON: Yeah.FBI AGENT: Could be -- about the same time I have four million coming to us.SHARPTON: End of April.FBI AGENT: End of April, six weeks from now.Is that a good time, you think?SHARPTON: Probably.FBI AGENT: Now I can get pure coke, or, you know, 99 percent, for about 35,000 a kilo. But I gotta get, you know, more than one.SHARPTON: Right.FBI AGENT: You know, if we're going to do this thing...SHARPTON: Now you're talking about some real...(END VIDEO CLIP)"http://transcripts.cnn.com/TRANSCRIPTS/0207/23/cf.00.html

^ That was more than 20 years ago, you know.Besides, Bush has some coke in his past as well as a drunk driving arrest (that he lied to try and cover up at the time too).It doesn't make it right, but you can dig up a lot of dirt on any politician. If you want to use a double standard, that's fine, but realize it's a double standard, and not objective truth.^^ http://www.thewolfweb.com/message_topic.aspx?topic=396452 That's basically a good snapshot of the Duke Lacrosse players at the time, and IIRC Duke fired the coach, which doesn't look good either.[Edited on April 11, 2007 at 12:00 PM. ^ Sharpton is supposedly a "Reverend." In addition, the point is that Sharpton is a self-appointed arbiter--more like agitator--in these types of situations. BTW, Bush was elected. So, in your world, I guess it's okay to be a lying, corrupt racist--just as long as it was a while ago. GG.
4/11/2007 12:25:23 PM
Who in here thinks that anything would have been made of this at all if Sharpton hadn't opened his big fucking mouth to complain?
4/11/2007 1:07:07 PM
^It may have...since your exact wording didn't include "or Jesse Jackson"
4/11/2007 1:12:15 PM
imus only owes an apology to the nappy-headed hos on rutgers' women's basketball team.none of them probably even knew who imus was before monday, but all of a sudden they care about what he says.and the suspension starts next monday? if nbc/cbs were really pissed, he wouldn't have been on the air this morning. i wonder if it has anything to do with $$$?
4/11/2007 1:45:38 PM
If Sharpton wants to clean up the mainstream, he needs to look no further than the top 10 songs of the day on any hip-hop radio station nationwide. More references to drugs, hos, nap, guns and n words than anyone can count. Sharpton is the racist hypocrite...if he wasnt he would be after almost every rapper in the game right now. He is attacking Imus because Imus is white.
