yeah i think the surprise factor alone for opposing defenses will get us some big plays, and overall it will be exciting to watch

better LB depth + relatively healthy lines + Carr + Deangelo Williams as RB1 + current assets (ie Smith, Peppers, etc) = Playoffs

Kid's nasty.

Lets remember, Carr most likely will not be starting this year unless 2 things happen - Jake injured or Panthers start 0-2/0-3 (Lets pray that does not happen...will not be good for the team moral) III

http://www.panthers.com/Common/Article.aspx?id=18032Great interview. I'm really starting to like this guy. Seems like he's got a good personality and a passion for the game. Jake better watch out...

Every time this thread gets bumped I click on it thinking they made the announcement that Carr is the starter.I figure they'll wait till about Week 6-7 to put him in but it could be faster if we start slow again.Maybe everyone will totally overreact and they'll vote him into the Pro Bowl like they did Tony Romo!!!

David Carr always reminded me of Rivers a little (or vice versa). Both of them are consummate team players and very mature for their age (each got married in college). They had impeccable college careers, but scouts criticized them for their throwing motion coming out of college. Rivers with his "shot-put" and Carr with a habit of side-arming it.I fully expect to see Carr turn into a pro-bowl QB the next chance he gets as a starter.

I bet he was swayed to come here so they would call it the Carrolina Panthers
4/13/2007 6:57:23 PM
that's a lot of $. looks like he'll be our new QB soon:http://www.gastongazette.com/sections/sports/panthers/?id=1519

wouldn't bet on it.
4/17/2007 11:11:53 AM
He's not going to start on opening day, but he WILL start sometime this season.
4/17/2007 11:14:32 AM
^ that's what I'm saying -- around game 7 maybe
4/17/2007 11:19:27 AM
hope not, that means we're doing shitty.
4/17/2007 11:25:38 AM
^ See Denver Broncos last year. lost something like 2 games and dropped Plummer. So stupid.
4/17/2007 11:31:33 AM
John Fox doesn't coach Denver tho. Jake would have to throw 5+ ints in 2 games for Foxy to bench him. I bet on injury mid season, if anything.[Edited on April 17, 2007 at 11:34 AM. Reason : .]

John Fox isn't near the coach that Mike Shanahan is either.Carr should start from day 1.
4/17/2007 12:39:14 PM
^haha, what's shanahan done since elway left? He's only won, what, 1 playoff game since he retired?[Edited on April 17, 2007 at 1:03 PM. Reason : .]

John Fox hasnt had nearly the running game that Shanahan has for the last 5 years

Offensive line coaching Speaking of which, our offense will look a lot like Denver's this year with our new zone blocking scheme.
4/18/2007 12:44:15 AM
^^ok so shanahan has had a much better offensive line than fox?either way you look at it, the broncos have had a better running attack than the panthers the last few yearsbut if you wanna defend a coach who has a say in drafting maurice "ak-47" clarett, go right ahead!
4/18/2007 2:43:48 AM
you cant tell me you've never taken a flyer on a gamble beforethats what the drafting of MC wasa small risk gamble with a small chance of huge potential rewards[Edited on April 18, 2007 at 8:29 AM. Reason : e]
