i like RH&B....well, I first had it at UNC prob 4 years ago. I haven't had it in Raleigh/Cary. My fam went back to the Chapel Hill location a little bit ago and saw that it had changed to some Jim's BBQ.Idk, I like memphis-style.
4/2/2007 1:04:55 PM
is memphis-style tomato based? if so it sucks
4/2/2007 1:16:54 PM
I am glad to know that something is finally going where the Darryls used to be. It has been vacant way too long!
4/2/2007 1:19:33 PM

4/2/2007 1:24:43 PM
i used to eat there all the time when i lived in North Hall
4/2/2007 1:28:51 PM
4/2/2007 1:44:25 PM
4/2/2007 1:58:55 PM
i never ate there. it closed i think soon after i started here. so i'm glad to see something finally go there, now that i'm a senior.
4/2/2007 2:02:14 PM
Need something good in that spot. A microbrewery would have been magnificent.
4/2/2007 2:07:32 PM
is memphis style like western NC style?and what exactly is lexington style?
4/2/2007 2:11:44 PM
lexington is eastern stylewestern is pulled pork, with a tomato based sauceeastern is chopped pork, with a vinegar based sauceLexington is the furthest west you can get Eastern BBQ, and it's by far the best there.
4/2/2007 2:13:17 PM
atleast there will hopefully be a little bit of parking for that place unlike all the other crap on hillsborough
4/2/2007 2:17:05 PM
god forbid you walk a block or across a street.
4/2/2007 2:17:38 PM
whats the kind with the mustard based sauce?
4/2/2007 2:19:06 PM
4/2/2007 2:24:58 PM

4/2/2007 2:30:17 PM
^^^neither do i. you can park on campus after five and there is usually PLENTY available. otherwise, lots of businesses on h'boro have parking behind their businesses. and if they don't have that, then you can park on a side street or on vanderbilti've lived offcampus longer than you've been in school and i've never looked for more than 2 or 3 mins for parking on hillsborough.[Edited on April 2, 2007 at 2:32 PM. 4/2/2007 2:31:48 PM
Any good college street is gonna have shitty parking. It's a sign of growth.

4/2/2007 4:13:46 PM
a few friends & i took a day trip to lexington to get BBQ during HS. we ran into the martin luther king jr. parade & asked the traffic director cop where some good BBQ was. pretty good even though i'm not a fan of vinegar style.also, when i was in australia we told someone where we were from and he said "North Carolina? Lexington BBQ eh mate?"i'll have to try this memphis style if red hot & blue opens up before i leave.
4/2/2007 4:32:30 PM
god i so want some lexington bbq right now
4/2/2007 4:34:40 PM
RH&B is ok.... but I don't think it'll do too well there since lots of NCSU'ers are more partial to GOOD bbq. I mean really, whatchamacallit tried and left already... oh heck... what's it called... Q Shack! There it is...I was excited when I saw that sign a while back saying a restaurant called "Raisin' Ale" was going in that spot... that had true potential. Plus, I thought it was a catchy name. Guess the $ wasn't right.
4/2/2007 4:36:02 PM
the old darryls needs be some kind of red neck themed club i.e. city limits type placewhen is the owner going to figure this out

4/2/2007 6:30:51 PM
Allen & Son's in chapel hill is by far the best!
4/2/2007 6:36:55 PM
4/2/2007 6:37:01 PM
oh word? My bad, thought it was the furthest west you could go for it. But apparently, you got all the answers.
4/2/2007 7:12:22 PM
I enjoy Kings BBQ in Kinston, as well as Tar Heel Q in Tar Heel, NC

4/3/2007 12:10:20 AM
on the subject of hillsborough st restaurants, does anyone really like mitch's? i mean, the food is ok, but the menu is terrible. you are a bar, make a fucking burger. i don't want salad with chicken salad on top of it.
4/3/2007 1:15:01 AM
i assume they don't want to have to deal with a grill or anythingthe reuben is good, and i kinda like the chili sometimes
4/3/2007 1:26:21 AM
^^Food is horrible unless your department is having an event there then he caters fine foods. They hurt themselves recently, no smoking at all period there now. While I hate smoking and the stench the next moring after drinking all night at a bar, people who go to bars like to smoke.
4/3/2007 1:37:20 AM
bbq and ribs company: eastern nc stylethats the best around campus that i've had, reminded me (almost) of places i live near back east. its on st. marys if anyone wants to try it, pretty cheap and great brunswick stew and hushpuppies, too.
