The other thing is, I wanted to buy a BMW, but the Infiniti just blew me away. I don't really think you can make a bad decision (well, actually you could if you opted for the C-class Merc) if you're buying from that grouping of cars. Lexus IS, BMW 3-series, G35, are all tremendous cars, it's going to come down to personal preference.

have you hopped in a tL-type S yet?ive heard those compete heavily with the 3 series..

^nah...i'll have to try that one, but i LOVE the infiniti...

is the infinity 4 door?the tl type S is.i would imagine the infinity would be more luxurious than the acura. but yeah, check it out. i think they go for around $33K or so.

dukeget real.i highly doubt one of his factors is FWD or RWD. even if it was, i can guarantee he would not know the difference, EVER. you always bring this "arguement" up. like its the biggest factor, like you will be sliding the rear wheels on the street. it has gotten old. you arent going to notice the difference on the streets and if you try to, you still wont.
2/28/2008 11:26:58 PM
dudehow can you not notice the difference, even on the street?[Edited on February 29, 2008 at 1:31 AM. Reason : i'm not even talking about going Tokyo Drift into the drive-thru or anything]I agree, people who buy a TL will never notice the difference, other than maybe a little torque steer every once in a while, which probably doesn't really annoy them that much....but that's why they're buying TLs and not BMWs. the TL is by no means a bad car--I'm just saying it's not totally comparable to, say, a G37 or 335i.many (most?) BMW drivers won't notice, either...but there is a substantial % of people to which it makes a big difference. The TL doesn't directly compete head to head in the same class as the 3-series, G37, and IS.[Edited on February 29, 2008 at 1:35 AM. Reason : asdfasd][Edited on February 29, 2008 at 1:38 AM. if BMW didn't have a twin turbo inline six available on the 1,3, and 5 series cars (I think anyway) I would say go with with the Infiniti 100%. I have driven an 07 G35 coupe 6 speed and it was quick and torquey, but had no balls on the highway or anything after 2nd gear. you just can't beat an inline six though, especially turbo. It's just a completely different feel from an n/a V6. I've never driven any of the new 3 series cars but I've driven a stock mark IV Supra. That being said, most people don't care enough and won't appreciate the subtleties in comparing the two powerplants.

Hmm, interesting. I've found my G35 to be plenty ballsy on the highway. It gets from 60-100 pretty fucking quickly.
2/29/2008 6:11:39 AM
bmw turbo inline 6 only makes 300hp and apparently boils its oil with the quickness
2/29/2008 9:23:45 AM
I don't agree that there isn't a difference between FWD and RWD.My bmw feels a more neutral and less prone to nose plowing then even my Evo.I'd kill myself in a FWD car.
2/29/2008 12:18:05 PM
^^that engine is greatly underrated, more like 300hp at the wheels.
2/29/2008 1:48:02 PM
as much as I was a fan of the g35, I'm looking more towards the s4 as well. nobody has mentioned the lexus....any particular reason for this?
2/29/2008 4:45:54 PM
I went and looked at the C-class, it just didn't do it for me. I didn't even bother driving it because I thought it was:Fucking ass ugly up close and in personWoefully underpowered compared to its rivalsAs for the S4 or RS4... yeah, they're fucking awesome, but they're also another 10-20k up in price from what I was looking for (buying new). I honestly don't think I'd be comfortable spening 35-40k on a used car that I knew was likely already ragged to hell and back. Nobody drives an M3 or an RS4 gently. I could see spending 20k on one a few years older, but I couldn't justify dropping that kind of cash on a used toy.[Edited on February 29, 2008 at 6:11 PM. ^^the IS350 is quicker than any of its rivals (G35, TL Type-S, C350, A4 3.2, S4, CTS) save for the 335i.but apparently, according to some people, it isn't as rewarding to drive as the G35 or the 335i.

Infiniti to launch hi-po version of its G-sedan and coupe, with a 5 litre V8 and 400+ hp Actually, that's just my prediction, and I am sure it will come true. It is based on these facts:1) Lexus launching IS-F soon.2) G35/37 is very popular, even more so than the Lexus IS, and so a hi-po version would only be proportionally more popular.3) Infiniti FX50 just launched in Geneva with a 5 litre V8 and 390 hp. And oh, 21 inch tyres, a 180 mph speedo, and enough performance to kill any SUV save the Cayenne Turbo and the ML63 AMG.The FX35 will probably updated to 'FX37' with about 300 hp.Video of the FX50:http://www.worldcarfans.com/4080310.001/video-new-infiniti-fxHuge-ass gallery:http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2009-infiniti-fx50/[Click above to see it in its signature burnt orange... the best and most ubiquitous color for the FX]
