5/22/2007 11:41:29 PM
if its at 8pm on a thursday...its not a sneak preview, thats when it comes out...but nice try!
5/23/2007 1:25:25 AM
the ticket says advance screening... so why would it say advance screening if it is a normal screening
5/23/2007 5:32:21 AM
I assume it's because they are letting you in to see it a full 4 hours before it gets released to the masses at the midnight showing? Is that what advanced screenings are nowadays? I would have assumed that advanced screenings occurred a couple of weeks before the film came out.
5/23/2007 7:28:38 AM
well, i could have sworn I saw a recent commercial that said "Sneak Preview" Thursday night, maybe it was Advanced Screening. doesn't matter either way!I got tickets last Friday night while going to go see Shrek3 with my wife. They had an ad on the box office window saying you can get thursday night tickets for either 8pm or 8:30pm at the box office or at movietickets.com, and my friend went and got his ticket Monday, so there MAY still be some availableedit: LudaChris posted in this thread that they were showing 8pm movies http://brentroad.com/message_topic.aspx?topic=467483&page=1#10341862 so dont' act surprised [Edited on May 23, 2007 at 7:55 AM. 5/23/2007 2:21:58 PM
I just looked on google and alot of movies are showing an 8pm pirates...
5/23/2007 2:59:59 PM
so they just screwed up the tickets and put advance on them...no big deal, either way i'm there
5/23/2007 3:11:06 PM
question: although I am not complaining that it is being shown at 8pm on thursday, I know the only reason is to try to beat Spiderman3's opening weekend box offices sales. If they do, will there (or should there) be an asterisks? you know, to say "yes, it made $155million and beat SP3, but they opened 4 hours earlier?
5/23/2007 9:58:28 PM
I liked it more than 2
5/24/2007 1:47:39 AM
They're not trying to beat the records (well I mean they are because they like money, not for the record alone)Its memorial day weekend, they figure alot of people travel, you usually don't go to a movie when you travel. So this is for those people. The more people they get to see it opening weekend, the bigger the word of mouth reviews are going to be...etc
5/24/2007 2:17:30 AM
^uh no, the push to 8 oclock is to beat spiderman
5/24/2007 8:12:19 AM
I always thought it was stupid that they keep pushing back the opening date to beat other movie's records. Why not start opening weekend on Monday night I put a little more minimal thought into it and came up with a possible second reason. Doesn't the percentage of money that the theater makes off of movie tickets as compared to the percentage of money the studio makes change as the life-cycle of a movie progresses? Say on the opening weekend the studio takes 85% of the ticket price and leaves the theater with 15%. Leading up to the second weekend the studio takes 50% and the theater the other 50%. Leading up to the third weekend the studio takes 35% and the theater 65%, etc.If that's the way it works it seems like another good reason for them to extend the amount of time lumped in with the opening "weekend."
5/24/2007 8:32:07 AM
Just got me some tickets
5/24/2007 10:33:49 AM
i got 3 tickets for the 11:59pm showing at Brier Creek
5/24/2007 1:16:59 PM
show comes out tomorrow yet Crossroads is selling tickets online for today at 8pm?
5/24/2007 1:20:51 PM
It opens tonight at 8. every commercial for it says it. its 2 hours 45 min according to one of these ticket selling websites. Jesus.
5/24/2007 1:33:28 PM
^5 Its not EXACTLY like that, but yes the longer a movie is in the theater the more money goes to the theater instead of the production company.I can't wait to see this, and don't care how long it is as long as its moving forwards to something (was my one beef with Pirates 2). Probably gonna see it sometime Sunday.
5/24/2007 1:36:33 PM
I hope I can sleep for 2 hours and 45 minutes in the movie theater tonight.
5/24/2007 1:39:37 PM
why the hell would you pay $10 so you can sleep in the theater?

5/24/2007 6:57:03 PM
can't be worse than the second one.
5/24/2007 7:41:17 PM

5/24/2007 7:46:05 PM

5/24/2007 11:19:14 PM
It was enjoyable, but not as good as the first (as expected)***SPOILERS***All that hype about Keith Richards as Jack Sparrow's dad, and he was only in it for like 10 minutes.Did anyone else notice that the kid at the beginning who was about to be hanged had braces? I'm pretty sure that back in the 1600-1700s they didn't have those I'm still not quite sure why the British Armada turned away after the Black Pearl and the Flying Dutchman took down the Endevour. Yeah I'm sure the two ships are pretty powerful, but against an entire armada? They could have pretty much taken out every pirate known for doing anything and they retreated? A little questionable there...

Did anyone else notice that the kid at the beginning who was about to be hanged had braces? I'm pretty sure that back in the 1600-1700s they didn't have those-I noticed he had really dirty teeth. I'm still not quite sure why the British Armada turned away after the Black Pearl and the Flying Dutchman took down the Endevour. Yeah I'm sure the two ships are pretty powerful, but against an entire armada? They could have pretty much taken out every pirate known for doing anything and they retreated? A little questionable there...-They killed the Lord of the Navy or w/e his title was. The ship went chaotic when the Lord zoned out, so without a head the Navy went 'o noes!' and retreated.BUT, WTF happened to Elizabeth at the end. That and the relationship thing pisses me the fuck off.
