according to NPR (THAT'S RIGHT THE EVIL LIBERAL NPR) said that taxes will not chanage.apparently they would have to have 10% of their staff in a different country (and make 10% of their revenue there)

Yea, I caught that entire NPR peice just now.Apparently, the AP and other outlets have reported this "wrong". They aren't moving their headquarters, they are opening another one up in Dubai. They will still maintain their Houston HQ, and they will still be incorporated in the United States with a Delaware address. They also made a point (a tax attorney chimed in, I think) in the segment that companies can't just move from the US to avoid taxes, rules congress tightened at some point in the past decade or so (I didn't catch exactly when, maybe it was longer ago).

The liquid nature of transnational capitalism undermines governmental oversight and authority.

"ive got you on block... ...except when i peek at your threads and decide to respond to your general retardedness"come on, State409cthats some weaksauce. even if you really do have him on block.i mean, one day i might go and block all the retards in chitchat and sports who post the "N-word" all over their threads, or nasty ass pictures without labeling NSFW...but to block someone in Soap Box, because you dont agree with them or think they're an idiot or whatever??i mean damn. what would happen if everyone blocked everyone who they didnt agree with?be the fucking end of Soap Box thats what. I mean this place is kind of falling apart anyhow. blocking users only nails the coffin. I wont even block Salisburybot.

^ he trolls a lot. by taking the discussion off on a tangent and forcing the argument over some petty point.and yeah, thats annoying.but it only works if you let it.and i have to say ive agreed on a few occasions, when he's made sense about something. granted, it was probably in Chit Chat or Sports.... but still, im against almost every form of censorship. and im against the thought of Soap Box devolving into some balkanized thing where everone is having exclusive conversations with their own "group" of unblocked people.besides, if Twista is posting a bunch of bullshit, who's gonna stop him... if not you, then who? (although, i can remember one person who i would have blocked: steve9194 he was a truly worthless racist troll.)

hmm. do you really think TSB is declining due to obnoxious people like Twista? because people said (say) the same about salisburybot and others. yet, this same shit was still going on when TSB was at its peak.i think its more to do with general decline of new members overall, and it's TWW-wide. which is partly due to a lack of site maintenance. the old school peeps have graduated, and many (most?) pf them quit posting so much or at all. those that remain are firmly part this TWW "culture" (whatever it is), and to new folks it can seem really cliquish and difficult to assimilate into.besides, if you're really worried about Twista scaring off the new folks, then why would you want to give him free run?

on npr they said that like 10% of the company would have to be in dubai for them them to qualify for tax exempt status. haliburton said that it is not thinking of doing that. of course we should believe them because they are a completely ethical company.*edit*oops didn't see someone already said that.[Edited on March 17, 2007 at 6:46 AM.
