the e46 side vents look so much better than those new things
3/17/2007 3:45:37 PM
i differ
3/17/2007 3:46:45 PM
it was exactly like this when e46 came out. 2 years later everybody was drooling.
3/17/2007 11:29:22 PM
no, they werent. BMW retains their following, but their shit has fallen off bigtime in the past 5 years. Also, why does everyone even give a damn about hp/tq numbers? I mean, they are all to the point of retardedness in any decent car, so what the fuck does it matter? I'd rather hear about how they revolutionized the suspension and interior than how they added 12 more horsepower. At least they are consistent making lifeless, yuppie cars with big fucking power that no one will ever use.
3/18/2007 2:44:10 AM
^ Are you implying that the suspension is lacking? I've never driven an M3 more recent than the e36, but I guess I assumed that they get better with each iteration.
3/18/2007 3:11:26 AM
^^fallen off how? market for E46 is expanding at the same rate just as it was for E36. new BMW are always bought by doctors, lawyers and yuppies, it is nothing new. they sell the car when warranty is out and then it becomes available to general enthusiasts. this has always been a trend. BMW presence in US has actually expanded in last ten years.

^Thanks man. Unfortunately I'm not digging the looks, esp. the high hood (b/c of that gay pedestrian law in Europe). By the time this comes out it'll probably be the same as a Z4 M Coupe, which I'd take hands down. Who needs back seats?
3/22/2007 12:18:00 PM
wow... sign me upAMG has their work cut out for them if they want the new C-class to even think about running with this bad boy
3/22/2007 2:31:58 PM
^ in straightline performance, the AMGs have always kicked the shit out of any other luxury performance cars, especially the BMW Ms and the Audi RSs.the new C63 AMG is gonna have the monster 6.3 litre V8, developing around 475 hp and at least 450 lb-ft of torque, which gives the AMGs the edge (detuned from 510 hp in the E and S).this would be a great comparo in a few months' time by any mag:Audi RS4BMW M3 (sedan)Merc C63 AMGLexus IS-FCaddy CTS-Vthere is nothing else in that category.Infiniti will probably come out with a souped up version of their G35 sedan soon to compete with the Lexus IS-F.[Edited on March 22, 2007 at 5:26 PM. someone asked a while back what e92 weighs... This is what an e92 335i weighs according to edmunds...Curb Weight MT3571Curb Weight AT3582I imagine the M3 will only be marginally lighter... so yeah, it's about 150 lbs heavier than the e46 m3...

i'd take a 4 door version of the e46.the new 4 door rendering is ok, since i prefer 4 doors.but i'm not a fan of the coupe.

<--- anxiously awaiting 130si or 135i, 130iMsport or whatever they call it so long as it's got >250 lbs hp and <3200 lbs and has a 3-box shape...<rant following>The whole "we can't name it the M1, there already was an M1" argument doesn't make much sense. Is anyone really going to confuse a '70's lamborghini-designed, m5 engined wedge with scooby-doo's head? (british criticism of the 1-series hatch that we won't be getting... we're getting the coupe.) And what if someone did confuse the two? Would that REALLY be bad for sales? I keep seeing some pretty nifty print ads in my head with the tagline "two m1s we've built in the last 40 years"And it wouldn't even create any ebay controversy. Even in 20 years people would have to mess up the thousands digit in the "before year" box to have search results containing both cars, unlike how "M coupe" used to bring up every m3 on ebay. (they fixed it, it has its own category now)Also, Given M's "needs-to-be-lower-weight" arguments for never producing an M-8 or M-7, wouldn't there be M cred to be GAINED by making an M1 instead of having the lightest current M car push 3600 lbs? Isn't the M1, listed at being 250+ lbs lighter than e92s, engine for engine, the more ideal successor for 2002 and e30 fans who refuse to "graduate" to e92 ownership? And who cares if the m1 is way up in 3-series pricing. I don't think buyers of a 328i sedan will be cross shopping an M1. I could understand the resistance to slap the M badge on something not using a specifically M-developed motor, so just throw the s52 in there and we'll call it even. </rant>[Edited on April 9, 2007 at 12:00 AM. ^^ good rant, but you should send it to BMW (i am serious).unless they know that there is a demand for it to be badged M1, they are not gonna do it, are they?email them, and then ask a 100 of your friends to email them and each one asks a 100 of their friends, and so on.
