Well right off I can tell you that I see at least 12 better options for each of the following positions: 2B, 3B, SS[Edited on March 28, 2007 at 1:55 PM. Reason : see][Edited on March 28, 2007 at 1:56 PM. Reason : a]

Well, I don't think Sanchez is not going to be hurt the whole season. I mean, I'm more worried about the pitching staff. I still have decent, maybe not great players, but I think they can fill in for now.
3/28/2007 1:37:39 PM
Is Rich Aurilla worth picking up for spot duty?I know he is [old] and he isnt very good, but he is eligible at 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and SS. One of the only people who have that honor on Yahoo. He could be the Boris Diaw (had eligibility at G, SG, PG, SF, PF & C on Yahoo NBA fantasy leagues last year) or Marques Colston (WR and TE on Yahoo. Bullshit.) of the Baseball world. When he gets over this pulled groin (1 week), is he at all serviceable? He could really give an advantage, considering we dont have a max games played rule.
3/28/2007 1:50:55 PM
I had Aurilia near the end of last year, and he was pretty good. I don't know about this year.
3/28/2007 2:34:37 PM
aurilia is good to have on your team for his flexibility, but by no means should he be a starter. if one of your infielders goes down to injury, having aurilia would probably be better than scouring the FA pool. other flexible players: Ty Wigginton, Mark Derosa. if you have deep rosters, these guys are worth a look IMO late in the draft. if you have shallow rosters, maybe not so much.
3/28/2007 2:40:31 PM
3/28/2007 2:57:44 PM
I really don't know. I would say Coco Crisp, but he's a speed guy, so is Roberts. I really don't know.
3/28/2007 3:18:51 PM
I wouldn't drop any of those guys...most of the guys that one would consider dropping have potential to put up much better numbers than Aurilia, whereas with Aurilia, you're really hoping that he can outperform expectations again
3/28/2007 3:22:50 PM
What about picking up Chuck James (ATL -SP, RP) in place of one of the current pitchers.James has had a stellar spring training and his ERA is below 1.50. He threw a 6 inning shut out last night.anyone heard of him? Kelvim Escobar got hurt and has gotten rocked lately, but I dont know if the fact that he is playing for the Angels (who will be the bomb) is worth keeping him on the roster.
3/28/2007 3:26:29 PM
^Well, he was 11-4 last year. 7-1 his last 10 to finish.Man, I found out that Freddy Sanchez might just miss only one week with his knee, so I'm not fretting so much.
3/28/2007 3:32:49 PM
BAH.You arent helping. Keep Escobar or pick up James? Or drop Beltre and pick up James?Help!
3/28/2007 3:34:06 PM
Keep Escobar. He is so underrated. Though I'm not sure what his injury is. If it's not too serious I'm farely confident he'll put much better numbers than James. James is a nibbler who will get hit a lot harder now that the NL knows him..Also you might want to pick up another flex-utility guy that can play SS. Furcal is probably going to miss some time at the beggining of the year..** man, I hope your league values speed. Roberts, Patterson, Crisp, and Hunter. That is minimal power for an outfield. Where is your SLG, HRs, and RBIs going to come from. You need vintage late 90's Piazza at C and Tejada at SS to make up for that..[Edited on March 28, 2007 at 3:44 PM. Reason : x]
3/28/2007 3:38:11 PM
^ agreeJames is a sophomore pitcher this year which usually spells a mediocre, if not disappointing year in the makingI wouldn't drop Beltre either, he's 27 this year and might potentially return to his form from his breakout year a few years ago
3/28/2007 3:41:31 PM
if you're looking for young braves pitchers, don't get james, he will dissapoint this yearpick up davies if he's available -- he'll probably start the year in richmond but should be starting in atlanta by the middle of maydavies is also more power, less 'nibble' than james which is means better numbers for young pitchers--ohyou're debating if you should drop escobar for james?NO WAY[Edited on March 28, 2007 at 4:27 PM. 3/28/2007 4:25:31 PM
I hate Beltre and would stay away from James (and I am a Braves fan). James kind of pitches with smoke and mirrors and I don't think he'll give you good fantasy stats like Ks and Wins.[Edited on March 28, 2007 at 4:27 PM. Reason : ^ beat me to it]

^Personally, I would have got more starting pitchers. You have like five closers, and saves is just one category. Plus, blown saves bring that ERA up dramatically. I would trade one or two of your closers for quality starting pitching.
3/29/2007 10:35:54 AM
^^ and ^ Having a bunch of closers is not a bad thing assuming you've got solid guys. Good closers also have very strong WHIPs, ERAs, and K/9.Is Jonathan Broxton available in your league? He's a better guy to have on your team than Mike Gonzalez because his stats, especially Ks, are awesome. Plus he'll probably be the LAD closer by mid season. You should try and trade Izzy or Lidge for a better SS. Orlando Cabrera is not going to cut it. Also there should be an FA OF somewhere in your league better than Monroe.[Edited on March 29, 2007 at 10:44 AM. Reason : fg]

^So, you're telling me when they are hot, they are going to be great, but at times my team is going to be really cold offensively?
3/29/2007 11:49:07 AM
That team is alot better than your first. despite what crede said, iguchi isn't a bad option. 2b is exceptionally thin, so don't fret there. three things:1) What catchers are available in the FA pool and2) there should be better options in the FA pool for reserves (green and polanco are good MLB players, just not quite good fantasy players)3) Do something about Chipper. he's not the player he was once known for, due to the fact he can't stay healthy. if he plays 160 games, he's near the top for the position, but usually that's not the case.3) Crede is the better option at 3b, chipper would be better at Util. when he's not playing, you should have a better reserve to fill in.i like the pitching though, it's solid.[Edited on March 29, 2007 at 12:16 PM. 3/29/2007 12:12:54 PM
that's A LOT of pitching
3/29/2007 12:17:50 PM
also, Shane Victorino (PHI OF) should be available in alot of leagues. he's fast, has baserunning ability, and he ought to hit #2 in the philly lineup; could have the potential to swipe 30 bases. if so, he's an alternative to podsednik or roberts who will fly under the radar.
3/29/2007 12:19:35 PM
Well, I have two more drafts tomorrow, so I'll have my teams ready for Sunday. Keep the advice coming.I'll look at my options in FA for that first team. I don't think it's too bad, but I usually make a good amount of free agent moves when my team isn't doing well, so I'm going to stay positive about it.
3/29/2007 12:55:27 PM
iguchi will be batting seventh... his numbers should dip a bit this year, making his value inflated.

3/29/2007 4:04:19 PM
i know, i did that to make it look at least somewhat fair
3/29/2007 4:29:53 PM
^^^ He might go for that if he's got someone else decent that can play SS and is really desperate for saves. He may counter for one of your better closers instead of Izzy. Is Tulowkski (sp?) available on your FA list. He is a young SS for the Rockies that many experts are high on. Considering how awesome Garrett Atkins has turned out, this guy Tulowski could be a huge sleeper

the first trade didn't go through, so i proposed this one to a different guyjj putz and orlando cabrera for derek jeter and pedro martinez. i'd be willing to take any of his starters, but i just figured pedro's the most injury prone so its more fair. he also only has one closer and putz is my best statistically[Edited on March 31, 2007 at 1:36 PM. 3/31/2007 1:36:03 PM
Derek Jeter is worth more then Cabrera + Putz by himself. Pedro won't be pitching anytime soon so he is a worthless throw in for you and the other guy. So if he accepts then its a good trade though I would probably drop Martinez instead of hanging onto him.
3/31/2007 3:52:30 PM
well it got nixed so it doesn't really matter. i think i've probably got the best team regardless, but i'll just have to see how it plays out. i can tell this league is full of tightwads, myself included

everything I've heard about Young is how fast he isI'd make that move (drop Payton for Young)
4/1/2007 8:57:54 PM
Luckily, we have a DL spot so I moved Payton to the DL and picked up Young. This will be a good "tryout" for Young, if he starts out hot then I will drop Payton when he is able to return to the "lineup.I have a good feelin' about Young. He should be a stud this year. Also, I would keep an eye on Elijah Dukes in Tampa Bay. Dude's a beast and will be a very good MLB player if he keeps his nose clean. He also signed with the Pack for football but never made it due to the MLB draft. He causes trouble, but hopefully he has his shit together... he could be a very good free agent pick up in almost all leagues.

I don't think Yahoo counted the stats from last night. I had Glavine last night on one of my teams, and I don't think they counted it. Maybe I should check later.

^i had the stattracker up last night and it was counting then but everything says 0-0 in my league todayearly season kinks in the system i guess

Yeah, I guess. I had Shawn Green, Glavine, and Chris Carpenter last night, so I guess it'll be updated later.
