that means NOTHING up there unfortunately.

1. the weather can and will change rapdily within minutes (like full sun to clouds and rain, snow, whatever)

2. even if the weather is nice in asheville, it doesn't mean it is even a few miles down the road.

south western nc is some of the craziest/fastest changing weather i've experienced anywhere.

I was up there March 3rd and 4th but my friend laid his bike down on Sat. so I didn't get to ride much. I would love to go back up there if you guys have room. I have a tow vehicle, so I can pull a trailer if someone has one.

ok smoeone post a list of cities in the area cause I am checking hotels now for everyone. I can get up to 3 rooms with employee discount with any Marriot hotel...which is a mile long list of all their different hotels etc....that will save us some $$$. i figure 3 or 4 people per room?

its $79 for 3 people per room. But its also a 'suite' SandSanta and I stayed at one of these when we went to Roabeling Road last year and it was really nice.

I stayed at the Two Wheel Inn in Robbinsville when I went. It was about $65 plus tax for two people. They also have separate garages for each room.

knoxville is a hard/long 30 miles away. in/around robbinsville is alot better.

30 miles doesn't seem that far? i remember on the way back last time we ended up driving through knoxville to get home....since we were on that side of the mountain and i had run out of gas (almost)

either way we should all stay in the same place or town at least.

sure, 30 miles isn't much on a normal highway or even 2 lane around here. this is the mountains, 30 miles takes alot longer. even i40 through that area is no speedway.

i don't know why you would have driven through knoxville to get home... it is just a little further up us129/411 at the end of the dragon, but still not on the way back to raleigh. unless you were going a round about way to hit i40.

robbinsville keeps you a good bit closer to raleigh. you've also got easy access to the cherohala skyway, which is a nice ride also. if you stay on the knoxville side, you've got a little drive to get to it. good thing you mentioned gas though... there is nothing on the skyway, and it's at least 40-50 miles if you ride the whole thing. there is gas when you get to tellico plains though, which is where you'll want to turn back. then there is the mini dragon and fields gap close by should you choose also. basically, robbinsville is just the best location all around imo.

watch close for cops also. i've heard they're planning to really crack down this season, especially tennessee highway patrol. 18 wheelers too... talk about pucker factor when you come out of a turn hard and you're on top of one of those bastards coming at you across the whole road.

Maybe the best way to do this is see who all is going and then split us up into groups to stay in a room. I think 4 per room should be fine. I am a girl and I don't want to make this weird or anything so unless theres another chick willing to sleep in the same bed oneof you guys is gonna have to be stuck with me


So I think maybe as far as people go... we can try to get all the bikers together and maybe all the cars together?
Also I wouldn't go and book a room for two reasons:
1) Shit comes up and people duck out
2) its still off season so rates may be cheaper still
3) I am a girl and if theres a dude wokring the counter I can maybe swing a cheaper rate, but regardless.. they may charge the internet price if you book early
On some nights it may not be crowded so to get your business they will chop the price down... I learned this based on experience

So you guys tell me what you wanna do... and if we all wanna ride up to the hotel together, I can try to talk a good deal unless someone has AAA or some other discount shit.

Ivan already said he would lend his trailer... Who else has got a trailer... and we need volunteers for trucks to haul the trailers... ANYone?

We need a count of all the bikes that need to be trailered, trucks and how many bike will fit each trailer and how many trucks we have...

im staying friday night, as planned from the beginning

my buddy is selling his car to a guy from coLOLrado on saturday somewhere in TN

he is coming to Bristol for the race and will pick the car up sometime saturday

so i will probably meet up with y'all sometime sat afternoon and hang out/drive til around 6

then get on the road for the 6 hour trek back to the coast

should be a very good time
