I keep reading a lot of people's club list, and I'm not sure they're aware that you're only allowed to have 14 clubs in the bag. It wouldn't matter just for casual rounds, but if you ever play in a tournament at a country club or whatever, they can get pretty heated about it. Anybody watch Big Break on the Golf Channel? Dude got penalized cuz he had like, 17 clubs.
3/1/2007 2:03:52 PM
ive got like 13 and think its a bit crowded. i can probably get down to 11

Tried out a new set of clubs today at the driving range. MAN its pretty out there
3/3/2007 2:25:27 PM
which brand clubs?
3/3/2007 5:55:39 PM
I played today and it was windy as fuck.
3/3/2007 7:26:45 PM
yea the wind was awful today
3/3/2007 7:27:56 PM
Anybody got suggestions for where to take lessons? I was a 9 over the summer, laid off for a little while because of law school, got to a 13, and now I have a case of the shanks that have lasted 4 rounds...I don't know what the fuck is going on. I tried putting all my change in my right pocket, turning my visor around, etc. (tincup style) and nothing works. Holler with good teaching pros.
3/4/2007 1:22:38 PM
make sure the club is flat on the ground but if i were you, just go to the range and get one lesson. or just half a lesson. knighsplay and falls golf complex have some good teachers (ive never had any, just from people that have).havnt been anywhere else
3/4/2007 2:35:23 PM
^^ Since you said the s word you are cursed for a little bit longer. Even if it happens you never say the word. Refer to as power fade until corrected.
3/4/2007 4:15:31 PM
just found out i have 2 lessons that my dad got for my sister left at the range.that will be good for this upcoming season for me.
3/4/2007 4:58:25 PM
3/4/2007 5:25:42 PM
I wish I could call it a power fade - but when the ball won't even get off the ground every other iron shot, it can't fade. But you're right - I forgot the S word is off limits, thanks for the reminder.

anyone hit the taylormade burner?? or have one?
5/9/2007 9:26:45 PM
^ I still play my first 3 wood; the taylor made bubble shaft burner; stiff flex and 80 gram swing weightstill my favorite club and i will have to find something pretty awesome to give it upfor the entire bag:Driver: Nike SasQuatch, 8.5 degree, aldila 65 gram stiff flex shaft3 Wood: see above3-PW: Mizuno mp-3054 sand: Mizuno56 Sand: taylor made tpputter: scotty cameronquestion for yall: i only have thirteen clubs and want to go ahead and add one more; do yall think i should add a fourth wedge, like a 60, or get something in between my 3 wood and 3 iron b/c that is a fairly big gap?
5/9/2007 10:14:11 PM
having a 54 and a 56 is pointless, get the 56 bent (its like 10 bucks) to a 58 to make up for that and then get a 5 wood or something. carolina custom can bend clubs up to about 3 degrees without hurting the club
5/9/2007 10:33:16 PM
bending a 56 to a 58 is going to add some bounce which is going to suck for tight lies
5/9/2007 10:42:40 PM
5/9/2007 10:53:48 PM
yeah i hit this years burner at dicks today at the golf simulator thing..it felt good. i feel more comfy with my cobra (maybe cuz ive hit my cobra a hundred times). i may have to go back with my driver and compare the two

^ i was talking to the guy at dicks. now, whether they know their stuff or not it sounded like he knew what he was talking about.he said that by far, the taylormade series is the best. the burner for guys who want an easy to hit forgivable club, and the superquad for those who can really put the ball where they want.how do you like the superquad?
5/10/2007 1:35:42 PM
I absolutely love the club. Never hit a driver with a better sweet spot and the ball flight makes you feel professional.

andy: the guy at Dicks said the burner has a bigger sweetspot.hmm, maybe ill have to demo the superquad also. have you fiddled with the weights at all?
5/10/2007 4:36:46 PM
I have the regular TaylorMade R7 with just the two weights and it is by far the best driver I have ever hit. The sweet spot is huge and the club is just so smooth. It is amazing by just switching the weights to the "draw" setting, it actually makes the ball draw. Those guys at TaylorMade have it down. I would highly recommend it and the superquad.

A good 15-20 Yards longer than my previous irons and the have great flight. Next to replace in the set is the putter with a Scotty Cameron.I am really trying to play a lot right now to get my scores into the mid 80s. I am getting there, but it is going to be a lot of work.

So what's a suggestion for a new player?I was given a set of Tommy Armour irons, and i'm fine with playing on those for several years until an equipment upgrade would help or even be necessary. The club in question is a driver. I feel that I have an average swing speed. I'm taking lessons, but we have not discussed the driver yet. Therefore, I know I am learning the correct ways to swing a club, so I should not need a club that can compensate for an improper swing. Obviously I'm not looking for a driver with a miniture sweet spot, but I think you get the point.Since I'm just getting into the sport (less than 1 year), I don't want to spend a ton of money. I also don't want a wal-mart brand driver that will break after 6 months.also, i do not own any woods, and would like to pursue those as well. Currently all I have is the irons (3-9, pw, sw) and a putteri've played mostly par 3's, which is why i haven't gotten a driver or woods yet.[Edited on August 5, 2007 at 9:18 PM. Reason : .]

yeah, you can probably drop your 3 and 4 iron because of that hybrid...i picked up a 3 and 5 hybrid. and i start my irons at 6 iron. i should probably start it at 7.i use to play with a chipper. then the bag that i had my chipper in was at the beach. i played with it for the first time in like 2-3 years and man i knew i was missing out.chipper is a goood club to use
8/5/2007 11:03:19 PM
A chipper is a horrible club to use. Be a man and learn how to bump and run.

I have some Nike Ones and Pro V1s but I'm letting them sit in the basement for a few more months until I get the D and 3W hook under control.
