Heading back to Okemo, VT this Sunday. Should be excellent conditions. 100% open, and highs in the low 30s that day.

what do y'all ski on?

I've got Atomic Beta Carvs, 170cm '02 model.

I've got 10 year old Dolomite boots that are going to be replaced after this season. I always hate getting new boots... they take so damn long to break in, and they're uncomfortable as hell until you break 'em in.

I've got Solomon 1080s, 170 cm.
Solomon binding, but don't recall the model off the top of my head.
Lange boots, model escapes me.

I used to ski 185s even with parabolics, and i demoed a pair of 170's one day, and moguls became a lot more fun.

I've always wanted to try snowblades

and telemarking

but I only get 10 days a year in tops, and I don't want to waste a day of it with something new. Maybe one day when I own a cabin and can spend 30 days a year skiing....

Okemo was FANTASTIC yesterday. Best skiing of the year for me so far. Weather was great, blue skis and low 30s. Everything was open, and thanks to the Nor'easter from last week there was plenty of snow coverage in the glades to prevent me from destroying my skis, lol.

All that skiing in the woods made me think that I should probably get a helmet. Does anyone that posts in this thread wear a helmet when they go skiing? Any brands to recommend? All those trees whizzing by my head, not to mention rocks, made me think I should protect myself a little bit.

^ Nice I heard Timberline (WV) was prime this weekend too, still in the 20s-30s there w/ new snow falling every other day, so next week should be awesome when I hit that up.

As for the helmet, I don't use one, but unless you already have a headset rig or something, I'd go this route:

Got in yesterday from Vail. Spent 4 days riding Vail and 2 at BC. Had amazing powder in the trees and got dumped on while there. Used a powder board for the first time...great investment. It was snowing when I left yesterday.

Last month, went to Mammoth, and the contiions were not superb, but the grooming was good enough that it was still a lot of fun.

Heading to Tahoe on Thursday, apparently they have been getting a lot lately.

humandrive and I wear helmets when we snowboard, I got tired of getting concussions. We both wear Burton helmets, they were the only ones that fit comfortably and had little air vents and all.

I might be heading up to Wintergreen this weekend, what do you all think of it? I have never gone skiing before so it'll be interesting .

Wintergreen is a perfect weekend place to go ski at especially if it is your first time. I have a condo up their and it only takes me like 3 hours from greensboro to be on the slopes. The way I look at it is, yes their are plenty of places that are better to ski at but if you enjoy skiing and that is the only place you can get to for a quick weekend well it is better than not skiing at all.

Speaking of Wintergreen...coming back from the trip, we noticed that highway 666 turned right beside a church. I started to go back and take a pic, then I thought, that's some shit one of you kids would do.

Well I'll be damned if in thumbing through the galleries just now I found this

Yeah I know its not wise to go through terrain parks and wooded glades without a helmet. I'll probably get one before my last big trip of this year to VT or before next season.

I'm sure it would have prevented getting knocked out when skiing back in 8th grade

It's been rather warm here in Charleston, but a lady I (currently) work with went to Timberline last week and said it was in the 20s-30s and snowed a bunch while she was there. It'll be fine throughout March.

Winterplace is probably having to make snow basically every night to keep up with the newfound warmth down south, but it's snowed so much the past 2 weeks here in WV they'll be fine for at least another 2-3 weeks, albeit it'll have mainly manmade snow.

I like it, mostly just because its so close, its small but they take good care of everything. Better than Sugar IMO.

Killington this weekend. I can't wait! They should have some fresh snow, and below freezing temperatures all weekend. And I just got a helmet a few days ago.

Ready to go!

^just got back from Stowe this past weekend

FUCKING AMAZING conditions

We drove up through that damn blizzard to get there though. Little nerve racking but well worth it considering how much powder there was.

Heading back there this weekend to do some more falling...err i mean shreading

Just returned from Timberline in WV...awesome conditions. Snowed 3 outta 5 days, great conditions for March in such a southern state. Plus, $17 college lift tickets for all day definitely make March the time to go. I'd strongly recommend heading up this weekend if you're bored, it was teens-20s all week and snow every other day.

Went to Northstar and Homewood in Tahoe last weekend (Mar 2nd and 3rd). Both were not very steep, but the amount of snow made up for that. It was very empty for how great the conditions were. No one likes trees in Tahoe apparently, it was untouched all over. All in all, the mountains were not amazing, but it had the best views of anywhere I have gone so far.

^^go back to chit chat.

Killington was phenominal! Perfect conditions Friday, though a little too warm Saturday at the base (40 + sunny). Some of their glades were the hardest stuff I've ever traversed before.

Oh, and it was a record breaking -9 degrees Thursday night, freakin crazy! (-1 when we arrived at 5).

Was probably my last trip of the year

Im selling an almost-new pair of Sims - Icon snowboard bindings (Large), if anyone is interested. I had a great time with them out in Aspen and Park City this year, total of about 5 days.

Check the classifieds
