also, what about the police?
I dont really need the apartment to be a quiet complex, I would like to live amongst other heathens such as myself, and I know RPD displays their faggotry quite often in regards to parties, so a complex less likely to get harrassed by the police is a bonus"

Wild Woods is fucking awesome btw.

I pay around 350 (after factoring in utilities) for my share in a 3br apt...the only bad thing is the name of the road I live on..yay lady's slipper court!

However, the way you're sounding, you should go ahead and live in Lake Park.

i didnt read the thread, but ivy commons is nice. kinda on the small side, but they are cheap and decently nice, plus you get your own private balcony.

How well built is Village Green? Is it noisy from room to room or apartment to apartment? What I'm worried about mostly is getting away from the noise whenever I want.

^they have a website

If I remember correctly, the smallest 1BR there is about $850, but most of the 1BR's are around $1k. I'd hate to know how much a 2 or 3 BR there rents for.

^I know they have a website. I read online that management is unresponsive and the walls are paperthin. I want to know whether people on tww live there and if so, whether they like the place.

I like Ivy Chase. I've been there going on 3 years. I really like it. I'm paying $403/month and everything is included there (cable/electricity/water). You get a car wash, garages (if you want), 24-hr. computer lab with free copier and printer, 24-hr. gym and game room, sand volleyball court, tennis court, and full b-ball court. You can't beat that.

Every room *(THE ROOMS ARE BIGGER THAN VILLAGE GREEN x10)* has a full walk-in closet and bathroom (mine are BOTH HUGE), individual leases, nice sized washer/dryer laundry room. Most have new carpet and have freshly painted walls. Not too noisey, convenient location--right off 40 (which I love since I work in RTP).

Maintenance: IS WONDERFUL. They stay on top of everything. Misty, Angie and Brandon are wonderful and Dexter looks out for me always. If you put in a request for a work order, it's DONE that day, no questions asked. They powerwash/shampoo carpets on request as well.

I LOVE IT!

^good luck having any friends come over though. i would not move to ivy chase simply because they have like 25 visitor's spots AND they tow all the time

^ True.

You're right. I used to know the tow truck guy out there so , but now I don't. And the guy we have now is sneaky. He'll wait several months and not tow, then come out one random night at like 4 A.M. and be towing. Sucks. And yes, since everyone wanted to jump on the IVY CHASE TRAIN and sign a lease out there, they had to get rid of the visitor spots to accomodate the residents (since we do have 1st priority), but yeah it sucks. I'm always having my friends to park outside my window JUST SO we can keep a watch. *sigh*

the Summit at Avent Ferry was a nice quiet 1-bedroom apartment for me, and the management was very friendly. I ended up moving out and turning in my keys a month earlier than planned due to closing early on a house, and they found someone to move into the room and sent me a check for all of the rent money that I had paid up a couple weeks later.

I enjoyed my experience there, its about half way between western blvd which has plaza west shopping center & a grocery store, & crossroads shopping center with has alot of places to eat, shop, and a movie theater.

http://www.sumtersquareapartments.com/

"Im still in the market for one with a balcony"

All 3 of those options have balconies, and then there are 2 townhouse apartment options that I didn't show that don't include balconies. And the apartment complex, being on the cary edge of raleigh, was always out of the police looking to harass students range as best as I could tell, and still not a huge drive to school since it was near western blvd.

I've lived at the ashborough for one year and we are going to transfer to a bigger place in two weeks. we had actually planned to move out, but when we went to give them our sixty days notice they asked why we were leaving and basically fixed every problem for us, except the berber carpet ( ) We are going to buy rugs to cover that. We never really had any big problems, there were just small differences that we liked in other apartment communities. The staff here is wonderful, and maintenance is fast. The hot tub is open year round. They have community wide parties and yard sales a lot, and every few months they set up tables at the entrances and hand out breakfast while you are driving to work. They are very pet-friendly but the pet deposit is pretty hefty, and non-refundable. They only have one dumpster and recycling center. You can walk to Dillard Drive School's football field, which people use as a dog park on the weekends. They have one of the nicest clubhouses I've seen and you can rent it out for parties. My company used it for our Christmas party this past year and everyone loved it. Some of the apartments have awesomely enormous balconies, while others have smal, yet adequate ones.

"Nice" and "tolerant of student behavior/parties" are, generally speaking, mutually exclusive.

i just don't understand the big deal about Wildwoods....the place looks like shit from the outside and not much better from the inside. It looks old, run down and falling apart. What am I missing???

^it definitely looks old... i went over there yesterday to check it out. my brother used to live there and he loved the location (the trails) and the management. the apartments are pretty decent. it's one of the more affordable places around here so that might have something to do with it. i would have lived there, but the next place available was in june...

^^ when i lived there the 12x13 screened in porch facing the lake was a big plus, and it was quiet and nicely landscaped. other than that it is like any other place.

Its not the closest to campus but Cary Town Apartments is the best place I've ever stayed at. Our rent is $1080 for a three bedroom and is pretty massive and really nice. 10 foot ceilings with crown molding, a balcony, huge kitchen, and really good community.

It's about a 15 minute drive from the complex to the coliseum parking deck going down Western, but its also directly off of I-40 so its pretty easy to get all over the place.

I lived in Dom. Walnut Creek
1 bedroom for about 450/mo

it was the cheapest 1 bedroom i could find that wasn't a shithole and I actually enjoyed living there! Everything worked while i was there - the faucet broke and they came and fixed it the same day.
I think it's luck of the draw whether you get a good one or not though.

are you serious?

compared to the apartments around campus?

most of the apartments around campus are paper walled build as cheap as possible places. all the apartments look the same on the inside. just b/c it has wood paneling doesnt mean it is run down.

wildwoods is obv a shit hole which is why basically half the people in this thread have said it is the shit
