^^ If you can prove that there are anywhere CLOSE to the amount of drug or gun related arrests/incidents from NHL players compared to NBA players you would have an argument. However, you can't... and you don't.No one is being racist and half these people probably aren't even from the South.[Edited on January 19, 2007 at 6:02 PM. Hmmm a rather interesting conversation here. I, however don't it's a fair assessment to say that hockey players' don't deal in illegal drugs (Marajuana) because they're too involved with the sport itself. That's definitely not an intelligent backing whatsoever. If this argument were to move forward, I think you would have to compare the following;Football to HockeyBoth allow violent contact with padding. As far as crimes:Violent Crimes- includes pretty much everything. assault, drugs etc[Edited on January 19, 2007 at 6:06 PM. Sean Burke hit his wife and was promptly shipped out of here. The Mike Danton scandal was absolute madness. The instigator rule has encouraged some dangerous play.Theo Fleury got problems. Many hockey players, particularly during the playoffs, are on heavy painkillers and cortisone so they can play. Frank Kaberle said he couldn't even move his leg every morning during the playoffs until he got his treatments, let alone skate or play. This thread was not intended to be a comparison between hockey and other sports. It was simply to point out that the lack of honor and discipline that leads to uncontrolled fighting in baseball/basketball/football/water polo is not the same kind of emotion that goes into a hockey fight. They're two completely different things.

Is it worth noting that the calm, civil proposal for a fight in the original clip is from a black guy?

Perhaps it is also worth noting that the NHL is the most diverse league in the world.

I don't know, I would tend to agree that the NHL is the most diverseCanadians, Americans, Czechs, Finnish, German, Russian, Polish, Latvian, and hell check the LA Kings, even Japanese. etc..etc..etc..
1/19/2007 6:57:48 PM
All those, and still about 5 blacks in the entire league. lol 0 black NHL coaches. 0 black hockey coaches on any level. That spells diversityyyyyyy [Edited on January 19, 2007 at 7:01 PM. Reason : /|\]
1/19/2007 7:00:31 PM
The most ethnically diverse... obviously not the most racially diverse.
1/19/2007 7:16:58 PM
There are 13 black players currently on active NHL rosters, and 10 more on minor league affiliate teams. The number fluctuates due to the nature of hockey's farm system. It's also worth noting that the NHL was first integrated in 1958.

WayneGroyou are a fucking moronyou think we are racist because we are just pointing out the obvious about the nbaI have no problem with the nfl though, i like the nfl, and true, the nfl does have some of the similar problems with its players as the nba, but face it, not as many proportionately as the nba, and those that do are better about keeping it quiet than the nba players. So please tell me how we are racist for pointing out the facts that you just want to ignore, but everyone already knows.

15 years ago = pretty good when considering you have 30 teams with 25 players per team. So that's like one out of the last 3-4000 players maybe?

College hockey doesn't allow fighting, but junior hockey does, and junior is where the majority of professional hockey players come from. College and Olympic hockey are not a fully accurate representation of the culture of the North American game.Plus, I find it hard to believe that there haven't been plenty of Brashear/Worrell/Laraque scraps, etc.[Edited on January 20, 2007 at 1:50 PM.
