also im going to try to buy a cheap used ide drive (20-80gigs) to install xp on in the meantime, and use as my primary drive, with my 2 300gig sata drives just for storage. Anyone got one for sale 4cheep?

Ok I guess this is the end. I'm going to just spend $40 on a 160gb IDE hard drive w/ free dvd player and end this debacle. Thanks to all who participated. It was much appreciated. DON'T BUY ASUS, but if you do, all it takes is about 3 weeks of work to get it working, no biggie =)
