I'm tired of the debate over teacher pay. Some teachers are good, and some teachers are bad. Some teachers work longer and harder than others--sometimes with the same results!I hesitate to bring this up, but the element of intelligence is also at play here. If you're not that bright, you're going to have to work harder and longer than the brighter folks. This one girl bitched to me about how long it was taking her to grade tests, and I was thinking, "What'd you expect? You're slow."

My fiancee did her student teaching this past semester. If she spends as much time professionally as she spent student teaching, she'll probably be making the equivalent of minimum wage too.

the minimum wage argument is garbage....still underpaid for the crap that they have to deal with, and underpaid considering its a legit, full time job with at minimum a BS or BA, many with masters or higher, but its better than minimum wage....200 days per year (180 school days + 20 teacher work days / professional development etc)10 hours per day (8am-3pm school day + 3 hours of grading/planning/etc)2000 hours per year$32,000 = starting pay in Wake County32,000 / 2000 = 16$16 per hour
