If you are even considering spending that much buy a real amp.

define real amp. separate receiver & amp ?

Yar. It might pinch you more up front, but you get to keep the amp forever. Then you only have spend money on the electronics. If your budget is already that large I would go that route.

i really like my polks, but i also like klipsh. as for the sub, i would go down a little on the price of the floor speakers and get them with a smaller bass driver and go with a powered sub. it would be hard to outperform a powered sub IN a floor speaker system, and you can always adjust the lowpass to let the sub take over, and since its bass, you cant tell where its coming from anyway.

paradigm jbl studio series and axiom are the speaker leaders right now. i mean b&w too if they weren't 2-10k per speakeri found a 7.1 rotel amp for 1600 which seems fair but audio/video processors and switching devices holy shit.. $2200-$texasthere is a sub planned but still i don't want speakers that only dip to 90 hz[Edited on January 7, 2007 at 7:40 PM. Spending the kind of money you are talking about would be like a wind noob going out and buying expensive vintage shit and then guzzling it down in one evening.

definitive tech is all bipolar isn't it?i heard that you actually want directionalbeing that i haven't heard much for bi-polar speakers↑ just cause i'm still learning all the tech involved doesn't mean i can't hear the difference ass hat.i just have limited mobility so its difficult to audition all the speakers i want to hear.

You may want to try out a marantz amp. I have one with klipsh rf-7 towers. like it a lot. the horns are not to harsh for my liking. Marantz amplifiers tend to be a little more mellow than others. I think yamaha's are known for being "harsh" when coupled with klipsch horn speakers. you may want to consider buying some nice speaker wires as well. they can make a big difference in the sound. Check out transparent wires. Audio Advice sells marantz and transparent.
