i think you get to put some letters after your name (EI or EIT):
http://www.ncees.org/licensure/licensure_for_engineers/

but personally, i'd just put "FE-certified" (or something similar) on the resume

does NC use EI or EIT?

[Edited on December 30, 2006 at 2:45 PM. Reason : is there a comma involved somewhere?]

EI if you just got it I believe, the old school people probably use EIT

and its a comma after your last name, then the EI

^^you're full of shit. it's hard enough to fail it once. how the fuck do you fail it twice without trying to fail! either that, or you skipped class all the time and only did the bare minimum to pass.

im taking my exam this april. Ive gotten through ME in 4 years(this is my last semester) with around a 2.7 in department GPA. not outstanding, but not terrible either, so im thinking i should be ok. Im hoping if I go to the prep course every week, take some practice tests, and study that id be able to pass easily.

^check online, when my co-worker took the PE exam (not the FE mind you) he was able to check on the ncbels.org website to see if he passed. I dont know if they have the same service for people taking the FE exam, but its worth a look if you are really concerned.

If you're living in South Carolina, they'll be finished sending out the scores by Friday, so the majority of SC should expect them next week.

It's a good reference book, and who doesn't want a couple of gigantic books sitting around to make them look smart? I read part of the first chapter of that book.

so do you fruitbaskets actually use the letters after your name? seems like the ei or eit is a bit trivial.

not a soul where i work mentioned it or uses them, so i dont know.

I dont use it, I wont put any letters on my name until I get my PE

I studied the Lindeberg manual and never took the E490 course, and passed the exam on the first try

putting EI or EIT at the top of your resume won't hurt. that way they know right away that you took that first step

i didn't put the letters behind my name on my resume. just put that i passed it in my honors/awards section.

when i joined my current company they put the EI behind my name on my name tag at my desk and on my business cards. doesn't really mean shit, but i guess it's somewhat nice.

the ei just seems kinda pointless and a little meaningless untill you get the pe.

well hell, the company i work for doesnt even give a shit about pe either, but its primarily a chemical company anyways
