I wish we would keep Todd Stroud as well.

Still is a good sign that TOB's assistants are coming too. Continuity, something Chuck failed at.

As long as he can convince Marcus Stone to return for his senior year i think we'll all be convinced that this was the right guy for the job.

i'm glad something i wrote a month ago had such an impact on you. did you have an opinion on trestman or did you just post to point out my overuse of negatives?

why would he be better away from chuck? i don't see him doing much differently, i think chuck gave him a lot of control.

I'd rather a new coach bring in his OC, along with DC. Those just seem like two positions that should be filled with your people, not someone elses who was a large reason the guy ended up getting fired.

^ i agree that it'd be better for TOB to bring his own coordinators if he can, but from what i've heard chuck didn't give trestman much freedom at all, and would frequently change the calls.

I've heard that he's looking for a DC position somewhere but still wants to keep his house in Raleigh.

Not sure how that's gonna work.

actually, i liked trestman too. the guy had pro and college experience, and i think he was/is a good OC, just needed a little time and a lot more talent for his offense to work. he didn't get enough time here IMO

the problem here is that you dont know you just think
and trestman has not held a job for longer than 3 years over the past decade.....[something to marinate on]

yeah besides having awful QB's, a bad offensive line, inexperienced WR's, and an injured Andre Brown i think its fair to say Trestman was working with a stacked deck. I dont think we should settle for anything less than an offensive juggernaut.

"Pack football staff to come together soon
Now that Boston College has won the Meineke Car Care Bowl, former Eagles coach Tom O'Brien can officially put together his new football staff at N.C. State.

O'Brien, who replaced Chuck Amato as the Pack's coach, has said his staff would be in place by Jan. 3. The Boston Globe reported today that all but three of his former BC assistants would join him at NCSU.

The Globe reported associate head coach/recruiting coordinator Jerry Petercuskie, offensive coordinator Dana Bible, offensive line coach Don Horton, tight ends coach Jim Bridge, running backs coach Jason Swepson, and defensive line coach Keith Willis would be on the new Wolfpack staff.

Staying on the staff of incoming BC coach Jeff Jagodzinski would be defensive coordinator Frank Spaziani, linebackers coach Bill McGovern and defensive backs coach Kevin Lempa.

Not to be a homer but this leaves O'Brien the oppurtunity to put Chuck at DC.

I would be happy with keeping Dunlap. It is unusual to keep a coordinator of a fired coach, but not as unusual as making the fired coach a coordinator.

It doesn't really matter who's gonna be DC because we aren't going to have a DL worth a damn next year.

How is our DL going to suck as long as Pressley comes back and doesn't pull a John McCargo on us?

We will still have Pressley, Young who is going to be NASTY, Martrel Brown, Ray Brooks, and Ted Larsen. Plus we have other guys who are talented but haven't gotten much chance yet like Littleton Wright and Quentin Brown and Audi Augustin.
