Thank god this fiasco is over. Now Boras can get moving on getting Zito to come to Flushing...^ exactly. The Red Sox knew that Boras wasn't going to let him not sign (because then he does't get paid) so they had all the chips..[Edited on December 13, 2006 at 3:13 PM. Reason : x]

with no salary cap he's worth however much you can afford. and the sox can afford a lot.
12/13/2006 3:13:22 PM
why does everyone think this guy is so great...i mean t-rash says "worth every penny"what is your proof of that?
12/13/2006 3:19:41 PM
watch some youtube videos, his stuff is sick.
12/13/2006 3:23:27 PM

Everyone agreed he's worth a $100 million contract...so please explain to me why the Red Sox bid so much higher than the Yankees didNo, Matsu did NOT get what he deserved[Edited on December 13, 2006 at 3:24 PM. Reason : a]
12/13/2006 3:24:02 PM
is that a serious questionwould just make your stupid point already
12/13/2006 3:24:38 PM
to prevent the yankees from getting himand the 51.1 mil isn't counted towards the lux. tax anyways so that helps the sox as welldnl, go back to chit chat. this guy was mvp of the wbc, has never had a season in japan worse than .500, and gil meche (career 55-44, 4.65) who was 11-8 last year with a 4.48 era just signed for 11 mil a season, so how isn't he worth 8.75 mil per?[Edited on December 13, 2006 at 3:25 PM. Holy shit you people are dense...Daisuke Matsuzaka did not get the amount of money he deserves. He didn't get the money he deserves because the Boston Red Sox used the posting system against him.
12/13/2006 3:26:17 PM
haha..this picture makes him look like his arm is REALLY long.
12/13/2006 3:26:40 PM
oicpoor daisuke, only getting $10 per [Edited on December 13, 2006 at 3:27 PM. Reason : ]
12/13/2006 3:26:49 PM
You're right, at the moment his only value is measured by the contract most people thought he deserved...100 mill over 5-6 years
12/13/2006 3:28:03 PM
yea im a fag cause i used facts and stats in a discussion instead of opinions

i like colbert too, therefore i cant hate you
12/13/2006 3:32:36 PM
Alright, so now let's go to next year, and Matsuzaka's twin brother is up for posting. After being burned this year how much will the Yankees put up for his bidding rights? Even more, and the player will get less money...and so on. It's no risk whatsoever for a team to bid so much and then try to give the guy a shit deal. No, what this guy got isn't a shit deal, but it can only get worse.
12/13/2006 3:32:42 PM
so far, you're the only one making a huge stink about thisif selig and the japanese league see something wrong, there will certainly changesalthough i doubt the japanese teams will say they're getting too much moneyif the japanese players don't like american contracts, just stay the fuck in japanproblem solved
12/13/2006 3:34:28 PM
and thats what boras was trying to prove, and eventually it will get changed when it turns into a ridiculous bidding war, and the player will not get less money just because the size of the bid increases
12/13/2006 3:35:22 PM
There's plenty wrong with baseball that Selig doesn't make a big deal out of...excuse me for not using him as my guide of what's right and wrong with baseballand the Japanese aren't going to care because they're getting all the money from posting that's being put up for their players
12/13/2006 3:39:35 PM
He might be worth it, but the posting system is retarded, that fact that we have to purchase the rights to talk to him is the stupidest thing ever. They should be happy a star like that is going somewhere for their contry, you don't see Mexico asking for money frmo us and The dominican, they should just say, the player will come back and help out charity wise.
12/13/2006 3:41:07 PM
the posting system keeps mlb from raping japan of all her young stars
12/13/2006 3:42:10 PM
What should happen is every player who intends to come to America should be including in the draft. I know it's called the 'amateur draft' but a name can change. Or have a separate Int'l draft. This makes too much sense and will never happen though. Plus a lot of Dominican/Puerto Rican/Venezuelan scouts would lose their jobs...
12/13/2006 3:43:48 PM
I just hope he's not the next Hideki Irabu.

I hope the Red Sox release a statement with how to properly pronounce Matsuzaka's name because it will drive me nuts this summer listening to all these baseball announcers making an abortion out of his name (mainly his first name, since his last name is easy to pronounce if you can read).
12/14/2006 1:52:34 PM
Apparently his nickname is "Dice-K"
12/14/2006 2:07:29 PM
Actually, I think it's more that "Dice-K" is the way you're supposed to pronounce his first name, rather than it being his nickname.
12/14/2006 2:15:32 PM
I keep hearing Dye-A-Sue-K and I keep thinking "5 dolla, sucky, sucky"

Glad to see the red sox's spending money like the "evil Empire" the Yankees. Alot of teams this off season are giving huge contracts out. A unproven pitcher is worth 17 million a year to Boston. He will do good to start with but the Major league will figure him out. Can't wait to see if he can adapt to being hit.
12/14/2006 3:45:59 PM
just said "dice key" on OTL
12/14/2006 3:49:42 PM
From what I saw from Matsuzaka in the WBC and on all the Japan clips of him, he likes to pitch up in the zone. I'm not sure if it is intentional or not, but he will get killed in boston if he pitches up in the zone. A lot of guys throw 95 mph fastballs...major leaguers will cream it if it is belt-high.He had better keep the ball down and have good control of his off-speed stuff, or he will be no better than a 12-13 win pitcher.
12/15/2006 10:11:39 AM
the happiest day for me will be when i see him get lit up
