give me a fucking break, wilkins had a terrible attitude, i'm glad herb ran him away.sidney's bringing in quality guys, on and off the court
12/2/2006 2:33:09 PM
You can say what you want about Wilkins and Powell, they both made NBA rosters, it would have been nice to have them play 4 years in raleigh.
12/2/2006 2:38:09 PM
^^agreed............but we lost quite a few recruits while herb was here though (Adam Simons, Mike O'Donnell, Trey Guidry, Dom Mejia, Justin Flatt)......I really think if Dom Mejia had stayed he could have been a solid player because he just about carries Drexel right now.[Edited on December 2, 2006 at 2:41 PM. Updates on our 2008 commits so far:http://www.ncprepsports.net/bbaskLeaders07.htmCJ Williams averaging 26 pts/8 rebs so far this year.http://northcarolinastate.scout.com/2/596766.htmlJulius Mays scoring 36 in a win going up against Ohio State's higher ranked recruit for 2008.I'd say they are doing pretty well and should definitely be rising in the rankings.
12/2/2006 2:42:13 PM
lowe would have really gotten off with a bang if wright hadn't of backed out
12/2/2006 3:10:25 PM
^absolutely. that was a big loss
12/2/2006 6:03:15 PM

Just think how crazy it would have been if we had last year's roster matched with Sidney's coaching and play style. If the players we had last year could have just played in ways that suited their skills vs. being forced to run Princeton all the time, we could have had an amazing run. Bennerman, Ced, and Grant would be outstanding with Sid's system, and Bethel and Atsur would give us depth at point guard/ long range shooters......
12/2/2006 11:24:05 PM
no one ever said herb couldn't recruit. He just cant develop players or exploit athleticism, even if it meant a full head of hair.
12/2/2006 11:28:52 PM
Larry Harris was Herb's assistant all 10years and is now Lowe's assistant (not news to anyone I'm sure)http://louisville.rivals.com/content.asp?CID=423294 - top 25 in 2005http://clemsontigers.cstv.com/sports/m-baskbl/spec-rel/052604aaa.html - top25 in 2004
12/2/2006 11:48:58 PM
Yes, Larry Harris is, and has been, the man. It was a great day when it was announced that he had decided to stay with NC State and Sidney Lowe instead of following Herb to ASU. I expect that also played a factor with our recent recruits and the new ones that still decided to stay when Herb left. That probably also is a big part of how Sidney could still land such a decent first recruiting class even though he himself could not start recruiting until he finished his degree late last spring.
12/2/2006 11:54:13 PM
homeboy also drove Mike Bell away - who went on to be A10's player of the year when he got there
12/3/2006 12:03:00 AM
^Umm Michael Bell never played in the A10....that Mike Bell for Temple is a totally different one.The one that sat the bench here named Michael Bell transfered to Florida Atlantic. Get you information straight when you talk shit. He was the ATLANTIC SUN conference player of the year. This is Campbell's conference. Big loss there. Quit hating on Herb.ALL of the Herb lovers love Sidney now, so stop with the hating. Sid is the man.

I loved how I read a report that said Hickson was committed to helping us recruit the best players we could. We should be using him and Tracy Smith to recruit guards.
12/3/2006 11:28:15 AM
i know im behind on things.but damn this excites me.
12/6/2006 3:24:57 PM
do we have a shot at Michael Sanchez?
12/6/2006 4:29:50 PM
no, but I hear his brother Dirty is interested
12/6/2006 4:34:19 PM
Why would you want Sanchez? Our best option right now is Jai Lucas. Go for him.
12/6/2006 4:35:31 PM
Jai would be greata 7 footer wouldnt be bad either...but we may be holdin off for another year, something Lowe may have in the works.
12/6/2006 4:36:18 PM
My ears are burning.
12/6/2006 4:37:22 PM
what is the deal with Rashad Green? packpride has had him there forever with us listed as his only school and we gave him an offer.
2/2/2007 11:14:36 AM
Rashad Green has been out of the picture for a long time
2/2/2007 11:19:14 AM
Green "committed" to us before we ever offered. Apparently there was some bit of confusion, in that he felt we were giving him a scholarship when he was really a recruit of some interest. I believe he was more of a backup option, and we have never offered him. Not sure if is looking at other schools or has any interest in walking on.
2/2/2007 11:20:01 AM
god i hope there is a mass exodus from chapel hill after this season
2/2/2007 11:49:51 AM
Even if there is, they will just reload in a year or two like last time.
2/2/2007 11:52:42 AM
but we'll still be able to pound them next year plus we have the potential to be just as loaded within two or three years[Edited on February 2, 2007 at 11:53 AM. Reason : ]

I'm going to take this opportunity to say how friggin amazed/stoked I am with what Lowe has done on the recruiting front so far! If he has any sort of success on the court we could potentially be building a juggernaut.
2/2/2007 12:19:39 PM
so what exactly is the recruiting ranking for basketball now?
2/2/2007 12:23:03 PM
^^, basically.i hope tracy smith ends up here, there's been some questions.
2/2/2007 12:31:15 PM
I really love the recruiting as well. I've given him a pass for this year, so even as disappointed as I have been, I won't hold it against him. If he brings in all his kids and we still don't play defense and suck ass at passing and free throws, then I'll have something to complain about.
2/2/2007 12:35:09 PM
What ever happened to Jai Lucas? I guess we didnt get him...
2/2/2007 12:54:22 PM
we got marques johnson...thus ending our recruitment of jai. we're out of scholies
2/2/2007 12:56:37 PM
marques johnson is the transfer from Tenn, right? How does he compare? (I dont have scout premium)He's GOT to be better than fergie...
2/2/2007 1:00:08 PM
He is EASILY better than Fergie....hell Nieman plays over Ferguson.Johnson was a 4* recruit....top 100 maybe? He is a baller.
2/2/2007 1:03:34 PM
johnson is a good player. he was playing a lot at the beginning of the season but then different rotations were getting used and he wasn't getting much playing time, even though he probably would have again soonhe wants playing time now, and he'll be able to get it with us. people who have seen him play have said good things

2/2/2007 1:15:16 PM
2/2/2007 1:15:59 PM
yeah simons was pretty much the biggest stiff i've ever seenwell, he and lewandowski
2/2/2007 1:20:26 PM
in highschool everyone called him lurch
2/2/2007 1:22:08 PM
johnson is already practicing...im hearing we are going to have talent at PG with degand and johnson that we haven't seen in a LONG time.i wouldn't worry about smith. I haven't heard anything that would make me doubt it.
2/2/2007 1:29:54 PM
Id be wary of calling lewandowski names. He is polish so he might be passive, but then again he could friggin slap u from across a room with that wingspan of his....
2/2/2007 1:35:48 PM
damn, Hickson looks pretty impressive by the looks of that video
