^^ agreed. if it's about the money, there's no way he's coming. but, honestly, i think he might take it ala roy style. he's done what he wants to do with the steelers.[Edited on November 28, 2006 at 9:16 AM. Reason : ^]
11/28/2006 9:16:28 AM
^agreed, but i just don't see him doing it this year... however i do believe he will in the future..BUT BOY IF HE DID TAKE THE JOB THIS YEAR......
11/28/2006 9:18:14 AM
i'll be happy when this crap stops.
11/28/2006 9:19:45 AM
me too... Nobody knows nothing about Cowher coming or not at this point, all this is just speculation. I'll believe it when I see it from his mouth....[Edited on November 28, 2006 at 10:07 AM. Reason : none]
11/28/2006 10:07:03 AM
well, more than likely he will let us all know todaybut saying something this early in our search, like the blog says, is not good for us
11/28/2006 10:20:07 AM
yeah, probably right....But wait a minute, if we also offered him the job back in 2000, do you really think that he will turn down the NC State job 2 times in a row... That will hurt...
11/28/2006 10:22:43 AM
he could, he says its all about timingi will be keeping my fingers crossed that the time is right this timekind of like Roy Boy at UNCmaybe twice is nice
11/28/2006 10:27:55 AM
where is the proof of this house he bought? it is not listed on wakegov.com under deeds[Edited on November 28, 2006 at 10:33 AM. Reason : .]
11/28/2006 10:32:17 AM
it's listed under a trust, as well as having been posted on this and other boards before.
11/28/2006 10:33:13 AM
and posted all over the countryhe is also building a house at the coast per some moderators on pack pride
11/28/2006 10:36:00 AM
11/28/2006 10:51:01 AM
Cowher already has a house on Bald Head Island....
11/28/2006 10:56:08 AM
Man, all this speculation is driving me crazy....Right now, my guess if the chances we get Bill Cowher are.... 60%-YES 40%-NO And if we don't hear any concluding evidence today from his weekly press conference (keep your fingers crossed), then that will be make the "YES" percentage even higher....
11/28/2006 11:09:46 AM
You're an idiot for getting your hopes up.More like 1%-YES99%-NO
11/28/2006 11:11:38 AM
alright, here is my take (btw, which is meaningless ) on the cowher situation:if he is saying something TODAY, probably not a good shot we get him. i doubt he would announce he is leaving the Steelers w/ 5 games to go. Kind of a slap in the face to an organization that has been very loyal to him. BUT, if the point of hiring a consulting firm was to keep things more under wrap (which I know is hard to do w/ a name as big as Cowher's) then it could be a glimmer of hope that we have a shot if something is being announced. I love Cowher and it would be awesome if he came, but either way IMO, there are a lot of good options out there right now (Johnson, Fisher, Chow) and if we could land one of them it would be very good for our program
11/28/2006 11:11:39 AM
I wouldn't count on Fisher or Chow. The titans love those guys. The team there is young (age) and is just starting to come back. They will be ther a couple more years. We don't have the money for those guys.
11/28/2006 11:39:12 AM
^jimbo, not jeff
11/28/2006 11:41:55 AM
you dont pay any attention to what is giong on do you?so many reports that that the titans will be cleaning house.esp. after last year's draft fiasco when fisher and chow wanted lienart (sp), but the ownership insisted on drafting young, no matter what.much distention over that issue and many others have led many to believe that the whole staff is on the way out.(there was never any mention of jeff fisher as a candidate here..)[Edited on November 28, 2006 at 11:43 AM. If we can't get Cowher/Chow/Fisher, I want Donnan and then maybe Johnson. Even after readign the past player's post on PJ, he still seems iffy to me.
11/28/2006 11:42:58 AM
^ i'm with you. although i don't know a lot about the supposed donnan hating nc state stuff. if that's not quite true, then i think he'd be the money.
11/28/2006 11:44:15 AM
do none of you remember what happened with bball? We have all these high hopes, and then all of the potential coachs will realize that the wolfpack fans/media are horrible to deal with, and either a) all out say no or b) use us for raises againBe prepared to have a football coach that probably was just someone that played back in the 70s and wanted to come back...basically our own version of a Bunting
11/28/2006 11:48:05 AM
^ entirely different. in basketball you're expected to at least contend with unc and duke, which i don't have to tell anyone how difficult that is.football expectations aren't even close to those of basketball. asking to contend in conference in basketball is asking to contend for a nat'l championship, asking to contend in conference in football isn't anything special.oh, and btw
11/28/2006 11:51:12 AM
it's a lot harder to use us for a raise since we are using an agent this time.If Fowler were heading the search, I would guess we fumble it around 'til we "land" Johnny Evans (securing our starting qb and new #1 wr for for the next three years). As it is, we'll get someone decent. Probably not our 1, 2, or 3, but partially because our 1 is Cowher and he was a pipe dream at best.
11/28/2006 11:53:26 AM
^^yeah, much better chances at landing a fball coach^good reasoning... the only decent NC team at football this year was wake.. but they def. aren't competing for a national championship and it will be hard for them to keep winning year in and year outOh and ECU is bowling this year.. but they won 7 games and are not even close to being ranked in the polls[Edited on November 28, 2006 at 11:54 AM. 11/28/2006 12:30:37 PM
nothing said about state
11/28/2006 12:31:04 PM
dammit, now we have to keep wondering
11/28/2006 12:31:23 PM
that might be a good thing

seems like David Glenn and 850thebuzzblog are wrong again
11/28/2006 12:31:59 PM
Yeah, but it's probably better for us that he didn't say anything. Maybe he actually has some interest.
11/28/2006 12:32:06 PM
suprised no one asked him about it
11/28/2006 12:32:30 PM
11/28/2006 12:33:44 PM
after it was over the hosts said something like "once again no one asked him the money question..."i'm assuming ncsu is that question
11/28/2006 12:34:46 PM
^either that, or "will you be the steelers coach next season"
11/28/2006 12:36:54 PM
if he didnt mention it..good news...
11/28/2006 12:37:09 PM
...still listening to the espn1250 radio after the cowher show. I can't believe there is/are ppl talking and writing articles up there wanting cowher fired this year. They must have some bad fans up there too, geesus.Buut, that could be good for us if the public up there turns "sour on cowher"?
11/28/2006 12:39:02 PM
11/28/2006 12:39:17 PM
^^pittsburgh fans feel like he's lost his edge and is pretty much retired already. They don't fuck around up there.

^^ Exactly...LMAO III
11/28/2006 12:47:27 PM
I wouldn't be too upset with either of the Cs from LSU, and I'd take a hard look at Shula now that Bama took a shit on him.
11/28/2006 12:47:43 PM
please make this crap stop. i'll assume there is no way in hell he is going to coach here next year until i hear differently. i suggest most people do the same.if anything, he takes a few years off, relaxes a bit, enjoys his pool, and then 3-4 years gets the itch to coach again and goes from there.
11/28/2006 1:15:07 PM
^ well i'm going to assume that your assumptions are no better than mine and say it's possible until he says otherwise. not likely, but possible.
11/28/2006 1:18:03 PM
alright good for you then. you were probably one of the people that thought Rick Barnes was going to be our basketball coach.
11/28/2006 1:37:55 PM
Apparently Cowher did not mention NC State at all during his presser. That's great news for State...and proves that Gold is wrong (At least, his 'announcement today' prediction)Again, still snowball's chance in hell, but that is interesting nonetheless. I bet he specifically told the media no mention of NC StatePresser to be posted here laterhttp://news.steelers.com/news/pressconference/
11/28/2006 1:40:10 PM
I doubt that we get him, but I can always be hopeful.I'm just hoping that Fowler is throwing the train at him to try and get him here. But then again, if we miss out on our top picks, the media will talk about how we couldn't land our choices and the fanbase will get pissed at Fowler for not trying to get choices that were more realistic.
11/28/2006 1:40:56 PM
^^^ i didn't think it was a sure thing... but possible.and guess what, it was possible. guess what else, you don't know anything more about any of this than anyone else on here. you have no idea what's going through bill cowher's mind right now.^ fowler is not handling this.[Edited on November 28, 2006 at 1:54 PM.
