Welp, a few months after getting waitlisted, I got my denial letter today. I'm halfway relieved, actually, as I'd always "second guess" my decision to take a FT job + get into Campbell's MBA if this one would've panned out. As it stands, I did the right thing.

I got denied b/c I "only" had 8 months of post-graduate (the 8 months of FT interning is apparently worthless to them) work with a Fortune 500 company. Ah well, I'll be giving my money to the Camels and livin' it up

We have talked about it SouthPaw...but for the masses, my three years of working for Hewlett Packard during undergrad, with a summer at their corporate office, and my current 6 months with Intel did not mean anything either. I wonder what kind of four year graduates they ARE letting in. Must be determining great future managers from 700+ GMAT's.

I'll let ya know how the Nortel interviews go next week.

Although I am admittedly bitter (now), best of luck to those in the pipeline.

It might also be because you applied late. Like I said in earlier post, I got accepted into State's program, Pittsburghs (Katz) program, and got waitlisted at Wake Forest. I am still an undergrad, 610 GMAT, and 3.2 GPA.

^ I applied early.

And you'd be amazed how throwing a "6" in front of your GMAT makes a difference. I still feel that 10 paltry points more (I had a 590) would've had a larger impact.

Major, work experience, internships? Perhaps I should have applied earlier, still, an err on the admissions if they close all the spots before the last deadline. My denial letter said specifically that I did not have enough work experience which amazes me. If another undergrad had more work experience with tech companies I would be impressed.

So are you attending NC State's program?

most of the people in the program in my class that came straight from undergrad had entrepreneurship experience by starting their own company or serving as VP or higher (3 of the 4 that i can think of off the top of my head)

I am going to attend Pittsburgh (Katz) because they have dual-degree program MBA and Masters in IE. It was a tough decision. State is a real good school and I think it is going to be a top program in the next ten years, but Katz has been a MBA program for a long time.

I'm graduating in Mechanical Engineering. I did two co-op terms with Weyerhaueser, worked since I was 16 (and was a manager at one point), and interned for over a year with a robotics company (during school). Now I am interning with a HVAC company. Co-op experience - 9 months. Interning- 1.5 years. I didn't have any real full-time experience, but I've worked enough. No matter what if you have your minds set on going to MBA school, just take two years and come back.

yeah, im not applying to state, im applying to maryland's part time program, but their average range is 580-680, so im not worried about it.

im almost tempted to apply to wharton now, but i really dont want to commute to philadelphia for classes (i live in baltimore)....and i dont think they have a part time program anyway.

thanks.

^good luck. Consider applying to Wharton & let us all know how the process goes.

I'm think I'm gunning for Tuck, Kellogg, or Stern, for enrollment in Fall 2008.

Wow congrats. I go Friday. This thread is making me scared, and I'm only applying to Fordham. I hope three years of finance experience will help a little.

#1) Get accepted, which is insanely tough to do this year.

#2) Have applied in the 1st wave of applications so you get in before the spots fill up

#3) Express a passion to aid the university and show great teamwork / communication skills in your application and interview.

^ To State? Congrats

I heard it was "a few weeks" after you were accepted. If it were me, I'd be on the horn w/ someone in the program asking around & following up. It's free money man, PURSUE IT!
