ahahaha eric byrnes = pepper from THE OCHOthat is awesome

it'll be funny if the Cards win it all this year, when they realistically probably shouldn't even be in the World Series...after several years of being really dominant but unable to pull it off in the postseason
10/22/2006 8:28:19 PM
Rogers looks great after the first and he's got the crowd behind him again. Go El Tigres.
10/22/2006 8:36:01 PM
aight weaver you had a nice run but you still suckgtfo
10/22/2006 8:46:13 PM
Rogers should be in fucking jail for assaulting that cameraman, he is an irritable old man who is lucky to be in the league and even luckier his racist faggot ass isnt kicked out of the league
10/22/2006 10:43:20 PM
^And he is a douche out on the mound. Almost like Melchionni was for Duke.
10/22/2006 10:54:28 PM
Tigers nearly choked that one away.
10/22/2006 11:21:50 PM
that had me scared... im very glad they didn't lose that in the 9th as great as Rogers pitched all night
10/22/2006 11:21:56 PM
HAX
10/22/2006 11:23:21 PM
Rogers is just unbelievable...What is the deal with this guy???Before this year....20 Inning, 20 earned runs.2006 postseason 20 scoreless innings...what gives? Maybe he is juicing.
10/22/2006 11:24:36 PM
he finally has a good catcher managing him
10/22/2006 11:26:30 PM
^Not to be a dick, but who was catching him all those years in Texas? The umps strikezone was bigger tonight and I didn't think that Weaver took enough advantage.V Okay MORON, why has he NEVER been this good AT ALL? Damn.[Edited on October 23, 2006 at 12:03 AM. Reason : V]
10/22/2006 11:43:51 PM
we were talking about the playoffsi may not be steven hawking, but when I read posts, I tend to look to see what context it is inmoron
10/23/2006 12:02:08 AM
pitchers can have stretches of consecutive good games dumbshitit happens, even your bend over and give me another gopherballer jason marquis has strung together 2-3 great games before in his career
10/23/2006 12:14:30 AM
Jason Marquis always brings teh funny to the pitchers mound
10/23/2006 12:15:58 AM
so what exactly did they think was on his hand?
10/23/2006 12:16:38 AM
I would say 3 consecutive shutouts in the playoffs is more than a string of good games. But whatever. Tigers 1 Cardinals 1. Please to not start Preston Wilson or Aaron Miles again in a meaningful game. Kthanks.
10/23/2006 12:20:03 AM
0 runs scored doesnt equate to shutoutsfor a pitcher to have a shutout they have to pitch a CG
10/23/2006 12:20:59 AM
yeah wtf on benching Duncan and Belliard....this is why I fucking hat e tony larussa.
10/23/2006 12:22:58 AM
Ronnie couldn't have been any worse than Mileshowever, I think there's a lot more to be upset about than not starting Taguchi, Belliard, Rodriguez or Duncan. let's start by not hitting into as many double plays and not allowing every pitcher to get us into 0-2 counts every at bat
10/23/2006 12:31:50 AM
^agreedandwhen the fuck is Eckstein going to not suck again? Don't get me wrong, he's one of my favorite players on the team, but this slump is getting ridiculous. If you can bench rolen for a hitting slump, you can at least move eckstein back in the lineup and see how it works.
10/23/2006 12:34:59 AM
HE PUTS THE CRAP IN SCRAPPY
10/23/2006 12:35:42 AM
I'm surprised nobody has even mentioned (other than a picture) the fact that Rogers had brown stuff all over his hand. He played it off in the post-game conference as being dirt, which is utter bullshit considering he had a similar stain in both of his other starts. That is a fucking outrage. They gave some arbitrary statistic about how 60% of pitchers use pine tar. Once again, I call bullshit. That reminded me of how people started saying thet "everyone" uses steroids in MLB a couple years ago when they started busting people. All that is is one guy trying to justify the act of another player, and it is ridiculous. Am I naive enough to think that people don't cheat in sports everyday? No, of course not. I'm not even going to try to argue that some Cardinal's pitchers don't use pine tar. But the simple fact here is, Kenny Rogers (a known virtual psychopath) blatantly has a large brownish colored spot on the exact same location on his palm for 3 straight games (all of which he gave up 0 runs) when he had a 4.51 ERA in the regular season.I wish they'd suspend his ass for the 10 games mandated by the rules and award the game to the team who didn't fucking cheat, but we all know baseball won't do that to the "feel-good story of 2006." And I'm not even mentioning his ridiculously large strike zone either.
10/23/2006 1:18:16 AM
Dude. Most pitchers in this league have been guilty of messing with the ball at one point or another.Cheating in baseball is as old as the game. Are you gonna start enforcing it where players aren't gonna stand all over the plate? Ortiz's numbers would drop like a rock.Dude. The game is completely subjective. An ump behind the plate calls strikes if he thinks that it is in some mythical "strike zone".There is no instant replay in baseball. There's so many places to start beyond pine tar on some pitcher's hand.
10/23/2006 1:24:31 AM
SOMEONE CALL THE WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAMBULANCE
10/23/2006 1:43:30 AM
wow you people suck
10/24/2006 9:35:40 PM
^^^if a player has the ballz to stand over the plate then so be it. Umpires are held acountable after games because they are subject to review. and GO CARDS!!!!!!!
10/24/2006 9:47:20 PM
the way the series is set up,id much rather be the team that plays the 2 games away first and then goes for 3 at homein this format there is no real advantage
10/24/2006 10:34:29 PM
yea 2-3-2 is a stupid setup.
10/24/2006 10:39:32 PM
ya it should be 1-1-1-1-1-1-1 MORANS
10/24/2006 10:42:40 PM
pwnt. twas beautiful.
10/24/2006 10:49:41 PM
10/24/2006 11:02:40 PM
i believe the 2-2-1-1-1 is much more fairi really feel the team with the 3 in a row has the advantage
10/24/2006 11:41:45 PM
Yeah. When the Cards took Game 2 in Shea it meant they could hold serve and win the series. That isn't much of a reward for finishing better all year than the other team.Frankly, I think it should all be determind by record (not the stupid AS game shit) first off; second the wild card LDS should be 2-1-2 and played b/t the best overall record and the wc regardless of divisional ties; third the LCS and WS should be 2-2-1-1-1
10/24/2006 11:44:08 PM
10/25/2006 12:03:20 AM
Doesn't the NBA use the 2-2-1-1-1 format as well?Go Carpenter!!!!
10/25/2006 12:05:51 AM
i believe the NBA uses 2-2-1-1-1 the entire playoffs until the finalsThen they go back to 2-3-2Which is even more absurd. But yes ive always hated the 2-3-2.Detroit shoudlnt have a problem roughing up Suppan tonight at least. Tell the top of the order to get some fucking hits please.[Edited on October 25, 2006 at 10:34 AM. Reason : a]

10/25/2006 11:26:45 AM
10/25/2006 11:30:05 AM
^ if that is the point then that is fucking dumb. You might as well just play all five games in the same place.
10/25/2006 11:31:23 AM
You might as well win the division and not win the wild card then. I think it's stupid to give the wildcard team the same amount of home games through 4 games (which many series' are decided in the LDS' in).
10/25/2006 12:22:19 PM
10/25/2006 12:55:44 PM
I think the post-season format is OK, but if I were to make some changes, this is what I'd do:1. Make all the series 7-game series.2. Any division series or league championship series involving a wild card team would be a 5-2 home/away ratio, split in the following manner: 2-1-2-1-1. Seriously, it's the wild card team..... at least reward the team who played better through 162 games a little more than 1 stupid game.3. Allow the team with the best interleague record to have homefield advantage in the World Series. In the special case where the teams playing in the World Series happened to play during the year, the team with the better heads-up record would have homefield advantage in the World Series.
10/25/2006 1:16:39 PM
The only problem is that the Tigers are the wildcard team and they were better than the As. The main thing that should be done is stop the damn all-star game from giving home field advantage.Interleague play sometimes wouldn't be fair because you could be playing the weakest division on the other side as well.[Edited on October 25, 2006 at 1:21 PM. Reason : Im torn between the two]
10/25/2006 1:20:02 PM
Whether or not the Tigers or A's were better is certainly up to debate. Regardless, IMO a team should be "punished" for not winning their division, even if they were up against a huge juggernaut (which the Twins were far from). And as for the Interleague schedule issue, yes I agree that one team's schedule may often be drastically easier than the other teams, but unless we come up with some BCS-like syatem for professional baseball (God please no) then I really don't think there is a fairer way to determine home-field advantage (certainly the All Star game is a shitty way).
10/25/2006 1:32:29 PM
Yeah the interleague thing is very unfair. Just as an example the Mets play the Yankees 6 times every year when everyone else only plays them 3 and vice versa.Overall record is fine for me. Yeah, I know that is equally unfair but it is over the course of a 162 game season and not over the course of a month. (think about the shift of team strength this year alone -- the Tigers and Red Sox completely blowing up the last 2 months but being at the top of their games during Interleague, the Dodgers getting red hot, etc, etc)[Edited on October 25, 2006 at 1:36 PM. Reason : x]
10/25/2006 1:35:15 PM
well baseball is stupid enough to have 2 different sets of rules depending on which ball park they're playing in during their championship series so why wouldn't they find something else to screw it up with the AS game shit.
10/25/2006 5:55:21 PM
