OMG ban alcohol, ban cigarettes, ban lounging around, ban the homeless, ban the blacks, ban the poor, ban the mexicans that don't work on my house... you're fucking up my perfect little society!!![Edited on October 19, 2006 at 8:04 AM. Reason : .]

Well lets just take all the restrictions off all the drugs and let everyone have at it.
10/19/2006 8:10:54 AM
exactly because pot is just as bad as meth and every other drug. I mean, I saw a gvmt propaganda film that told me it makes you go insane and kill people so it must be true.hell, I only wish all the drunk bums on the street were stoned instead. That would be a lot more peaceful. Instead of loud and obnoxious they would just be sittin back thinking about some stupid shit.by the way I quit smoking pot too, after about my junior year. But I still maintain that it is not even as bad as alcohol. Some people can habitually smoke pot and still function in society, even more can occasionally smoke and contribute. Sure there are counter examples but I can show the same with alcohol and even gambling.[Edited on October 19, 2006 at 8:24 AM. Reason : .]Many kids and adults will try marijuana because it's really a mild drug, even less dangerous than alcohol. Thus they are introduced to pot and soon make connections to get it. Access to marijuana requires you to be in the underground scene, so to speak. So the same person you buy weed from is highly likely to sell other drugs at least on occasion. That same experimental nature that led you to try pot will lead you to try other drugs--because you already have access to it by knowing drug dealers. If marijuana was legalized then it could be better regulated and would not require people to get their stash from someone who might also offer them coke. It was easier for me to get pot in high school then it was to get beer! Marijuana is a gateway drug not because you have to take new drugs to feel high, but rather you already have access to other drugs and since they are all illegal then you kind of equate the two in your head. You are already breaking the law by having marijuana so why not go the next step.If marijuana and alcohol were both legal then their would be no need for many people to make friends with drug dealers, thus keeping them away from harder drugs.this argument is no less valid than the ones used to make it illegal.[Edited on October 19, 2006 at 8:46 AM. what i find funny is the pot heads trying to call each other out....pot, by it self, is pretty mild, problem is, it's rarely 'just pot'.... the whole pcp thing...[Edited on October 19, 2006 at 9:18 AM. Reason : v]

The reason marijuana is a gateway drug:1. Society / public no longer frowns on pot use the way they do 'harder' drugs. This makes people feel pot is less dangerous. (I agree it is)2. This (along with experimentation/peer pressure/boredom) leads people to try it.3. When people try it, and see how innocuous it is, they realize that all the anti-drug shit they heard in middle school health class was a bunch of hooey.4. People think "Well, if my government lied to me about the dangers of pot use, how do I know that they werent lying about heroine/coke/meth?...maybe I should try that shit too."5. People try heroine / coke, get addicted, go broke, get involved with crime.6. Criminals get caught and punished and sent to the prison shrink who asks "where did your drug use begin??"7. Study concludes that marijuana is obviously a gateway drug.

^ because THE MAN says it's illegal ( just like alcohol was back in the day) The reason IMO that alcohol is legal and weed isn't is because the government does not like free thinking society (which weed will cause), but likes to dumb down society so they can remain in control.or maybe i'm just a nut!!

It shouldnt be legalized until people can be protected from it.Currently, with alcohol, if you slam into my car while drunk, there is a legal, proven method (breathylizer) that can prove you hit my car because you are drunk. There is no such method to prove you hit my car because you were high as shit.Just as there are those people that are responsible with alcohol, and can still enjoy it, there are also those responsible with pot.In the same vein, there are those that are irresponsible, and they need to be able to be identified and dealt with accordingly.**Replace "hit my car" with anything you want. "Ran over my kid", etc....

I can't think of another topic that reveals people's ignorance more than drugs (with the possible exception of race). Even worse is this board's users are supposedly educated people. Morality should never hinder logical thinking.
10/19/2006 9:39:28 PM
the reason that employers drug test for pot is because it's illegal. I would think this is pretty simple. It's the fact that it's illegal which is retarded. Pretty much, rich people drink. That's why alcohol is legal and pot isn't. Not that some rich people don't smoke, too, but you know what I'm saying.not to mention the whole "just say no" thing which brainwashed a lot of people. It's the stigma. To this day, they are still running propaganda campaigns against marijuana. It's an easy target, not to mention that they can't fold on the whole "drugs are bad" stance by admitting that some drugs AREN'T bad. Our government is too stubborn for that.

10/20/2006 10:05:51 AM
you don't get that? I mean, everyone drinks, this is true, but alcohol is a socially acceptable drug among the rich, while pot carries the stigma of hippies and losers, even though that isn't really the case. Politicians won't ever make alcohol illegal because they all drink.
10/20/2006 10:18:54 AM
why are all the poor people smoking pot if it costs $300/ouncewhen booze has a price per ounce of like 1 cent

10/20/2006 11:06:29 AM
10/20/2006 11:09:41 AM
not really. why don't you inform me. it'd be just as easy to classify people who drink as lazy drunks who get in car accidents and cant' hold a job. Obviously that is very subjective. It's a person by person case. It's about the individual.and I'm not saying that only POOR people smoke. I'm just saying that alcohol is the drug of choice by the decision makers in this country.[Edited on October 20, 2006 at 11:15 AM. Reason : .]
