how can you not be a fanim not a FAN fan, but how can you not be a fan after seeing that?also, how can you not want a college playoff, how can you not say "this" team or "that" team doesnt deserve a chace at being the NC?
11/9/2006 11:23:52 PM
So what your saying is that if Bosie State or ECU goes undefeated that they should get a Championship bowl game appearance? Rutgers is having a great year but they could not have gone through a ACC, SEC or Big 12 schedule and be undefeated.

They still don't deserve it. If they played the top 10 teams they might win 2 games.[Edited on November 10, 2006 at 10:25 AM. Reason : you don't go from being laughing stock of football to national championship contenders the next year]
11/10/2006 10:24:48 AM
Well that is purely opinion since they are already 1 for 1 and have a chance to be 2 for 2.As I said, they don't deserve to even be in the talks for the MNC game right now. Should they go in to Morgantown and beat another Top 10 team they should be in the talks but still aren't deserving. Not because they couldn't run the table in the SEC or Big 10 (please don't mention the ACC -- it is the worst BCS conference this year), but because their OOC schedule was so poor..
11/10/2006 10:33:34 AM
It is about now, but you can't put them up against a good team. They will get killed. minus the Big east who have been so dominate in football.
11/10/2006 11:05:15 AM
im on the bandwagon. go rutgers!
11/10/2006 11:06:16 AM
RU SERIOUS?!
11/10/2006 11:14:41 AM
^^^ again I don't think anyone is arguing they should be in the National Championship game. However, they wouldn't get their shit kicked out of them playing what you perceive to be an elite team. Do I think they'd run the gauntlet in the SEC? Of course not. They'd probably, at best, have 3 losses if they played all the SEC big boys. The thing is we don't know that for sure. We go by what they HAVE done. They just beat the #3 team in the country and have a chance to beat what will surely be a Top 7 team on the road at the end of the year. IF they do that they will be very deserving of a BCS bowl and will be highly competitive, especially if they play an ACC team. They will NOT and should NOT be in the Nat'l Championship picture though. Not without upgrading that OOC schedule like UL tried to do (Miami, K State, Kentucky -- 3 bcs conf schools). Though they are in the Top 3 in all the updated computer ratings I've seen so far (save your typing hcngay -- i don't care what you think about the computers). They likely won't get higher then 6 or 7 in the human polls though if they win out, and rightfully so.
11/10/2006 11:53:11 AM
big east is better than or at least about even with the pac10. big east has 3 great teams while the pac 10 has 2 great teams and oregon.i think lousiville and wvu are better than all the teams in the pac 10 and any of these teams would be right in that top 5 if they were in the sec. the only evidence we have shows that wvu would dominate in the sec so you can't even bring up that rutgers wouldnt be good in the acc. they probobly woulndt go undefeated because there are so many teams week in and week out. (probobly like 2 or 3 great teams on your schedule instead of 2 because of divisions)i dont think anybody in the sec has played all 4 of the other teams.

Will a few certain people stop making moronic comments in my thread! Or at least figure out in your head what you want to type before typing it. holy crap

^^ for the first time I pretty much agree 100%^ Pat, too many people hear Rutgers and automatically think they must suck just b/c they are Rutgers. Same with the Big East. Oh well the Big East lost their two flagship programs so they must suck without actually realizing the Big East has 3 teams easily better than those two programs THIS YEAR and a host of others on the same level as 2006 Miami.. Ironically the best team that moved conferences this year in the swap to the ACC is the one no one cared about leaving the Big East, Boston College.Rutgers is a legitimate team and while I don't feel that they should get any Nat'l Championship recognition YET, what they have done is amazing. IF they can somehow win in Morgantown I think the Nat'l Championship debate will certainly heat up, though I still don't think they would be deserving over a 1 loss UF, Cal, or Arkansas (texas is disgustingly overrated so I'm not mentioning them)V I don't think Wake Forest is bad. I just don't think they are a Top 10 team by any stretch. They almost lost to Syracuse and UConn, who are the two worst Big East teams. I have all the respect in the world for Grobe. [Edited on November 10, 2006 at 1:42 PM. Reason : x]
11/10/2006 1:34:01 PM
when its about the big east you agree. wake forest is percieved as bad just because they aree wake forest.
11/10/2006 1:40:58 PM
Hey, Rutgers has now beaten as many ranked teams as Ohio State has beaten! But the Big East sucks
11/10/2006 2:07:06 PM
Does anyone else feel like, when games like last night happen, it cheapens the level of play of the entire conference?Either all three of UL, WVU, and RU are really good, or they all are only a little bit better than average.I mean a 5 smacked a three, then disappeared against a 15. Seems like they all might should be ranked 10+, leaving more room for the SEC and the other teams that actually belong up there.
11/10/2006 2:11:59 PM
Does it cheapen the SEC when #8 beats #4, then loses to #15?Of course it doesn't cheapen it. It speaks to the depth of the conference a bit more if anything. There is a reason it is so hard to go undefeated in conference play in each and every bcs conference (minus pre-2000 acc for fsu).[Edited on November 10, 2006 at 2:19 PM. Reason : x]
11/10/2006 2:18:59 PM
Remind me again, what were the scores in those gameS?
11/10/2006 2:21:46 PM
It's not so much the win loss. It's the way UL completely dominated WVU. I expected the same thrashing of RU. So either all three schools belong up there, or all three don't, based on the A vs B vs C paradigm.
11/10/2006 2:22:57 PM
I'm not sure where you are going with this?Louisville 44 - WVU 34Rutgers 28 - Louisville 25------------------------Auburn 27 - Florida 20Arkansas 27 - Auburn 10^ or you can realize that every week is different. Transitive property doesn't work. If it did I can say Rutgers >>>> Ohio State, since Ohio State beat Illinois 17-10 and Rutgers won 33-0 over Illinois.[Edited on November 10, 2006 at 2:25 PM.
