well. i started the meds. I DID NOT DRINK ALCOHOL last night, which i'm proud of. the only thing i noticed was waking at around 3am and staring at the walls till about 5:30am. nothing i could do could bring me back to sleep.


other than that that's hit. first day took 5mg of lexapro and 10mg of xanax (generic). i'm starting again with the lexapro now (in the morning) and the xanax at the end of the day when its time to cool out and relax.

^^ I think that you have the mg wrong on the Xanax. Are you sure you're taking 10 mg? That seems like a lot, especially just starting. I think it should be more like .5 mg or 1 mg, 3-4 times a day. What mg are the Xanax?

normal doses are .25mg, .5, 1 and 2mg. So, I highly doubt you had 10mg. I was suprised at the low amounts the drug came in compared to most drugs as well, but yea.. 10mg would have pretty much killed me I think lol

Okay--first of all....

the xanax (alprazolam) is a schedule 4 controlled substance, so even though the directions many say every 8 hours, thats every 8 hours AS NEEDED. you only take it if you need it. you don't have to take it regularly. main side effect is drowsiness.

lexapro...a ssri, can also cause drowsiness, until you are used to it and your body has adapted, id suggest taking it at night, will take 4-6 weeks to really see a differene.

lexapro has no generic, its actually newer than celexa (citalopram) which supposedly has more side effects. the xanax (alprazolam) is just as effective as brand name. it's been around a long time and hardly no one gets brand name.

now before you think about being a smart ass on how or why i know this. its because i work full time in a pharmacy and have for nearly two years. so save the comments, im just trying to help.

I agree - to an extent also. I wasn't on Lexapro long enough to see if that particular side effect diminished, because it gave me intense stomach cramps and constant loose bowels. The side effect was strange, though, because I could still get erections, just it would take a very long time to achieve orgasm. I switched to Prozac a few weeks later, and still have that same side effect. I've been on it for several months, and still am experiencing it.

I don't think it's a bad thing, because it allows me to give her a good rogering before it goes dormant again

I also have to WTF UJustWait's comment about the Xanax... I've never heard of that before. I don't take Xanax regularly, only when needed, so that may be different. But that warning was never in any of the paperwork provided to me by my pharmacist.
