10/8/2006 3:43:53 PM
i used to work at wknc in 1995 and for a commercial station in 1996so i'd been through the trainingbut then wknc got newfangled computarz and i never learned how to operate those...so i would just talk and let someone else run the board if i hung out on the air with someone like ariel, benny mac or andrew payne and it's all i can do some weeks to make sure my technician work gets turned in...on top of my full-time job at state and various freelance stuff..and saturdays and sundays are reserved for football [Edited on October 8, 2006 at 3:59 PM. your call, and im not sure if we have any open weekend spots.
10/8/2006 4:02:42 PM
aha i'm sure my department would be like, "yeah go ahead and go play on the radio for 2 hours during the day while you're supposed to be working on graphic design for the administration"it'd be pretty sweet, though
10/8/2006 4:06:16 PM
maybe you should do some design for us. and then you can say your working on stuff for us but just be on the radio
10/8/2006 4:09:57 PM
somebody recently reused an old design i did for wkncit was a black t-shirt with an old style robot holding the earth on the backi saw some kids wearing them during orientation...i think they were for the staff or something
10/8/2006 4:12:35 PM
yeah actually we did make staff shirts with that.
10/8/2006 4:15:50 PM
10/8/2006 4:22:44 PM
aha xplosivo was right
10/8/2006 4:24:13 PM
hmmm i think im going to intern with the 100.7 peoplewe will see what happens
10/8/2006 4:27:25 PM
you pulled that off wikipedia. I just don't know if I trust that so much as anyone can update it. That being said, with the URL stuff, the wiki stuff, and the fact that it just doesn't sound "right" on the air, I don't think they are done switching.
10/8/2006 4:34:34 PM
that format sounds pretty fucking horrible.
10/8/2006 6:18:58 PM
That shit is not going to happen...RDU is Country... This is not a stunt... Its the real deal
10/8/2006 7:57:20 PM
check out the page link on http://www.1061rdu.com/there is some sort of connection to the river, so there might be some truth to it that the river is shifting to take over some of rdu's dutiesmakes me sad, though, cause i liked the adult alternative[Edited on October 8, 2006 at 8:13 PM. Reason : +]

RDU IS COUNTRY... THIS IS NOT A STUNT... ITS THE REAL DEAL
10/8/2006 8:29:34 PM
unless you are one of the upper mgmt types at CC-Raleigh, you can't say for certain that it is a done deal. The River was country for 4 days before switching over to the new AAA/Jack format that it eventually settled on. And I can tell that when that happened, there were probably 5 people in that entire building that new what the deal was. Believe me, I was there and I was inquisitive. I'm not saying that RDU won't stay a country station, I am just pointing out that there is history to support the theory.
10/8/2006 9:10:26 PM
country ? no fucking way

Off topic:98.3 WIST in High Point plays classic country, but I've never been able to pick it up outside of Guilford County (and even in the county, it's hit-or-miss). They're the only classic country station I know of.I'm still ticked off about 93.1; I used to listen to them while driving between Greensboro and Raleigh. Now they're playing the same repetitive garbage that WTQR plays in GSO and WQDR plays here.I don't know what the market is like here, but given that WTQR has a stranglehold on the Triad, and that 93.1's new website is just a static front page with a logo and phone number, I'd wager that Clear Channel is just pulling some kind of weird stunt, and that in a little while, "due to popular demand", both stations will change format yet again.
