I haven't heard as many horror stories about subframe failures on E46's as E36's, so shouldn't be a problem unless you are out driving extremely hard all the time.

As far as the DSC the only thing you can really do is hold the button down for about 10 seconds until the DSC and brake light comes on, which should turn the whole system off until the car is restarted.
I've barely even looked in the engine bay of an E46; what exactly engages the loss in power? I assume is electronic as opposed to a secondary throttle body like in the E36. Thankfully in the E36 you can just spend $15 and put in a non-ASC boot, which I'm going to change to a samco unit soon hopefully.

more like subframe ripping out of body failure. The actual subframe doesn't fail.

your opinion no longer counts. if you can't figure out how to disable the traction control, you probably need to have it enabled.

^^^no... cutting fuel/spark was a somewhat common practice with mechanical throttles for a while. most systems now are going to throttle control with drive by wire becoming common place. the earliest systems used brake control. modern stability systems use a combo of brakes/throttle control. there are a some odd ball systems out there that eat torque through differentials, like mercedes.
