I'm not a huge fan of the pumpkin ales. I like them, but can only have a few each year, then its just too much. Its the same with Pumkin Pie for me, so maybe its the pumkin. I normally try and get a mix pack that has a couple in it, that normally satisfies my cravings for the year.Any news on the Stone Beers hitting the NC markets? I'm in Greenville, SC, but normally make some stock trips to Asheville for the High octane stuff.[Edited on October 11, 2006 at 11:58 AM. Reason : .]

...getting back on topic...Has anyone ever taken the brewery tour at Carolina Brewing Co. in Holly Springs? I'm considering it...
10/12/2006 9:32:30 AM
I would recommend it[Edited on October 12, 2006 at 10:44 AM. Reason : o]
10/12/2006 10:44:41 AM
The brewery tour is good for free, fresh beer before and after the tour. Arrive early, stay late, have a few pints and socialize. There are a number of regulars who go week to week for the free beer.

10/14/2006 7:47:30 PM
i'm drinking a hoptown IPAit's hoppy (obviously), which i like, but it's been overkill so the last 4oz or so of this 22 isn't really that greatalso had sierra nevada's IPA on tap at the bar during the state game this morning -- quite tasty!
10/14/2006 8:26:35 PM
Drinking a Rogue Imperial Pilsner now. It's not bad...I guess I'm not a huge fan of pilsners though. Nice bottle though. I'd rather have their Imperial Stout, DIPA, Barleywine, or Shakespeare Stout.Had Stone Ruination last night. Very tasty. Nice and hoppy...a hophead's wet dream.I have a bottle of Dogfish World Wide stout that is just begging to be opened. Maybe later.
10/14/2006 8:35:47 PM
mmmm, stone's ruination is one of my favorite beers
10/14/2006 8:36:48 PM

Couldn't resist cracking open my DFH World Wide Stout tonight.Suprisingly drinkable for a 18% a/v brew. I though it would have an alcohol taste that is too overpowering, which it is not. Very thick, leaving my mouth with a nice coat after each and every sip. Very tasty; I wish I had bought more than one bottle while I was in VA.

Unibroue Quelque Chose - Very interesting and enjoyable beer. Kinda like a belgian strong ale, but add lots of cherry flavor to it. No carbonation at all. The most unique Unibroue beer on their lineup. Very tasty.Unibroue La Seigneuriale - Bleh. Fruity flavors, with banana and clove tastes, and a certain unique spiceyness to it. Typical Unibroue mouthfeel with a lot of carbonation. I didn't like this one at all. Give me Fin Du Monde, thanks.I just placed an order online for some beer not available locally:Westvleteren 12 - 2 bottlesWestvelteren 8 - 1 bottleWestvelteren Blonde - 1 bottle

I was in Portsmouth, NH last week. We hit up 8 bars/breweries. I had a few good local microbrews but by the end of the night I was back on Newcastles.Red Hook is brewed up there. Not that good in my opinion

10/28/2006 7:46:54 PM
Drinking this Allagash Curieux (bourbon barrel aged tripel) from last year before I head out. It's good, but I was hoping for a little more bourbon in the flavor.
10/28/2006 10:10:04 PM
^ i thought allagash curieux was awsome. after a year. way better than weybacher propahcy(barrel aged merry monks). allagash interlude is where its at. fucking amazing.current drink of choice is rogue old crustacean. from last year. agood solid aggressive barleywine. mmmm caramel, grapefruit and pine resin.
10/28/2006 10:17:50 PM
^^^^Where'd you find the DFH 120s and Raison d'extras?
10/29/2006 12:42:36 AM
I could have sworn that Total Wine in Cary had Raison d'extras.
10/29/2006 2:09:19 AM
probably not, that shit's like 20%
10/29/2006 10:54:24 AM
they were both at whole foods and norm's in vienna, va. total wine in cary has raison d'etre (8%). this years raison d'extra is 18% it was 20 point something before. i wish they were still bottling thiese big beers in corked and caged 750ml bottles.
