Sprint back in the day had the shittiest customer service and was notorious for it. They have cleaned up their act it seems.

my first plan was 45 minutes a month for $25

I had this problem with Cingular like for about 3 times in my 1.5 years with them. So I switched to Sprint. With Sprint, I just called the customer service once in my 2 years with them to just enquire about a charge while I was travelling overseas and they looked at it for like 2 seconds and they said they will refund it. The next day I checked online and it was already refunded.....

Could you have left the phone on without noticing and it ran up the bill accidentally? I've done this.

I've been a Cingular customer for over 5 years and have had ZERO problems with them. I love them.*knocks on wood

I had a horrible experience with Cingular...but thats just me, or is it??

My first cell phone back in the day I went in best buy to get a nokia 5190 from cingular. The girl that was working tried to call and activate it, she held for over 20 minutes and they did not answer. I then asked her if she had a special number for store activations and she said she did. By that point I was asking myself why I should sign a contract with a company that was too fucking stupid to get their internal activation number answered in a timely fashion. I ended up walking out with a Sprint phone.

i upped my plan last month b/c i'm going to be using my phone for work a lot more. i wasn't sure just how much more though so i kept an eye on my minutes every day until the end of the billing cycle to make sure i didn't go over. sure enough, i get my bill and it's $250.pleasantly, when i called cingular to bitch both customer service people (both cus i had a dropped call half way through the first) were very friendly, very professional, very understanding and with no hesitation they credited my account and set me up under the correct plan, backdating 6 weeks to save me the most money. nice to see some good customer service from a company and industry that has a reputation for being pretty terrible.

I haven't read this entire post but I have Cingular, now AT&T, and I have not had any real problems. I did have a couple of minor issues and contacted them and their costumer service was top notch. I've complained to a lot of businesses about things before over the phone and have had to deal with a lot of headache and hassle but Cingular was by far the easiest to work with. Very professional and is the main reason I have stuck with them. I've used Sprint, Nextel, and T-Mobile and I think Cingular is by far the best Cellular company out there. I like the fact I have rollover minutes and have yet to get over billed for minutes. I just hope AT&T keeps the same customer support. Look at Sprint cutting hundred of employees that were complaining too much.

^just wait...i had a recent bill that was huge as well. they started charging for unanswered calls on both ends (me calling and me not picking up)... i have also had other problems with them in the past, good luck. keep updating.

I've had no billing problemsbut calling has been a major issue in the past few weeks. People try to call my phone and it won't connect through to me. I'll try to call someone ~10 times and each time it says Call Failed and gives me the gay beep thing. It pretty much happened right when AT&T bought them/when the Iphone came out. I hoped it would die down but it hasn't. I'm gonna have to call and bitch, which is going to piss me off because I already know it won't help anything, they don't give a shit.

weirdi went WAY over (like 800 minutes over) last month, too. i had 700-something rollover minutes, and then my bill came out for about double what it normally is...i apparently had used all of those rollover minutes, and about 60 more.i coudn't spot the problem, though.i did also look at my old bill history (i had it on autopay), and most of my bills would be $45-50...every now and then, though, there would be one for $90-100. those are too far gone to go back and look at, though.

I've noticed since Cingular was absorbed by AT&T that my service quality has decreased. I get more dropped calls now than I ever have (been with Cingular for over 3 years). I also have more problems making and receiving calls. Additionally the network seems to be busy frequently. I never experienced these problems to this degree before the merge.
7/11/2007 7:39:10 PM
i've been having terrible call quality and lots of dropped calls/network busy instances in the last few months, strongly considering a change to verizon

I think its just NC. I never had any service issues with Cingular till I moved up here.

^^^wasnt a merge, your problems are not related to it. merely a name change[Edited on July 11, 2007 at 8:51 PM. Reason : .]

I always used to have billing problems with Cingular. Cingular also hires the dumbest people available in the job market to work in their call centers.[Edited on July 11, 2007 at 10:16 PM. Reason : asdf]

Anyone ever have t-mobile over here?I'll be on the west coast when my contract goes up and i was thinking of trying tmobile. they also got the highest rankings for customer satisfaction.dunno why they are not as popular here.
7/11/2007 10:43:44 PM
tmobile isn't offered in NC because they have a market exclusivity agreement with suncom
7/12/2007 12:22:15 AM
but if i get tmobile in cali and when i come home for breaks can i still use my phone?
7/12/2007 12:31:35 AM
yeah, you still get service here.. they just don't sell plans for this area

I've had Cingular for 7 yearsI had a problem 6 yrs ago when I switched from a regional plan to a nationwide plan and the retards in customer service didn't change it. So i was charged roaming fees for the entire summer that I was in CT and had $500+ bills every month. I was calling EVERY week and talking to someone and they would say they saw that I switched it months ago but for some reason it hasn't gone through in the system. I kept excellent documentation of dates i called and the names of people I talked too. I refused to pay the charges and after calling every week for over 2 months they finally corrected it when I moved back here and went to the store I switched it in and talked to the district manager. Absolutely ridiculous. They gave me a free phone (a nice upgrade).I've never really had a problem with the actual service until the past 6 months. ever since they merged with ATT and Bellsouth and everyone else, half my calls get dropped and I have trouble even connecting. For a company that advertised themselves as the phone company with the "least dropped calls" it's pretty sad. My husband and a few good friends have had the same problems. We'll switch as soon as our contract is up..Oh and i HATE having to wait for 30 + minutes everytime I go to a cingular store. They really need to staff their stores better.
