Yes, I will be back. Already ran by there to pick up Emotionalism at after they opened at 10. Lots of fans were running inside to pick up their album as well. Guy behind the counter said that they will likely play a 30-45 minute set.
5/15/2007 11:10:25 AM
yeah i'll probably go and eat my lunch there or something
5/15/2007 11:11:02 AM
Oh shit, I should make my mom go see this.Either that or ditch her.
5/15/2007 11:20:19 AM
i'm going to the meet and greet at manifest here in Charlotte tonight at 8; i think it's their last stop of the night - not sure if there's going to be an in-store performance here though, still can't wait
5/15/2007 11:27:08 AM
So, how was it?
5/15/2007 1:15:09 PM
pretty good. strange that i used to play cello with the guy who's playing cello with them now on this tour.
5/15/2007 1:28:15 PM
Man, that place was packed. Good show. Greenville music scene taking off with them and Valient Thor being so big. I used to go see both at peasants when they were just starting out.
5/15/2007 2:19:44 PM
I went and checked them out at Manifest here in Charlotte last night.Awesome show, it was packed, they played for over an hour!
5/16/2007 9:42:08 AM
had a phenomenal time last night, the mix of old and new they played was a lot of funthe guys stayed around afterwards for a meet and greet until everybody that stuck around had gotten a chance to meet themi love emotionalism; there aren't as many gaps as in four theives gone
5/16/2007 11:38:55 AM
^agreed, it's much better than FTG.However, I feel it's lacking some of the raw energy that their previous recordings had. Some of it is too well arranged + polished for my tastes. Still, a great album.
5/16/2007 2:36:47 PM
I'm liking the "polished" feel to it. It's definitely not a live album, but it has hints of it. Like how they usually count off songs (a live cut clue) only a couple of the new tracks have them doing that. The style is definitely different, too. A drum kit added to one of the songs (I havent learned them yet, but it was ONE of them...) made for a different feel. Not bad or good change, just different. I like it, though. Probably my favorite of their albums thus far.
5/17/2007 5:32:14 PM
nothing will ever top Mignonette
5/18/2007 8:59:51 AM
I feel lucly, I got to see this group live last year at my Best Friends wedding. Did not know how big they were or how big they would get. I actually enjoyed them. Wish I would have taken some pics with them III

can you tailgate at this place?
6/16/2007 3:31:57 PM
^ Not sure. I know you can't bring alcohol in on your own (you used to be able to do that, apparently). They have wine and beer for sale inside, but not sure about tailgating outside.
6/16/2007 4:08:13 PM
great friggin show! i've got pics and youtube material i will post tomorrow
6/17/2007 1:21:24 AM
it was a pretty good show...i just miss seeing these guys in smaller, more intimate venues.
6/17/2007 12:32:48 PM
That was a good time. I actually didn't get there until they had started their first song, so I was kind of S.O.L. for getting a good seat. I was impressed with the length of their set. Awesome show.

6/28/2010 12:02:32 PM
ELEEEGANNT BUT SOOOFFTI'm AstralAdvent and i approved this message./]
6/28/2010 12:05:34 PM
^^ no doubt they won't sell out the entire venue, but they'll certainly sell out the allotment of General Admission tickets
6/28/2010 12:20:43 PM
that's 14,000 seats at $31 eachi still don't see itbut good on 'em if they do
6/28/2010 12:23:20 PM
6/28/2010 12:39:43 PM
6/28/2010 12:40:57 PM
^^they sold out the Asheville Civic Center on New Year's Eve, and that place holds "more than 7,600 people" according to the website. granted it was NYE, but still - they bring quite a crowd when they play in NC.i'm not sure i'll enjoy them in such a big venue as Walnut Creek as i did in the smaller Civic Center, but if i can get lawn seats for $20 in the parking lot it'll be worth it.]
6/28/2010 12:44:30 PM
that's the other thinghere's a band whose following has been built on live shows and connecting with the audiencewhat fan who's seen them at the 506 wants to pay $30 to be at the back of the lawn looking at a giant video screen?
6/28/2010 1:29:56 PM
I think they said the final tally at the Asheville Civic Center was only 6,700 or so. And that was also in Asheville which is like the hippy capital of the mid-Atlantic, so....I just don't see the Avett's selling out Walnut Creek. IMO, they would have been the perfect act to play at the Downtown Amphitheater. All this hullaballoo about Koka Booth et. al. not being loud enough, but when I saw them there, I was probably 50 ft. from the stage, and they sounded plenty loud to me.
6/28/2010 1:33:23 PM
6/28/2010 1:34:18 PM
^ With all due respect, dear, you are not a live music maniac like many Avetts fans.^^ Loud enough for you, maybe, but the band hated it.
6/28/2010 1:36:59 PM
6/28/2010 1:38:09 PM
Shit, you're right.Disregard previous post.
6/28/2010 1:42:12 PM
6/28/2010 2:14:09 PM
I just meant the sound.Every rock act that's played there has complained about the sound.
6/28/2010 2:15:42 PM
^x5 Wow, how wildly unnecessary and inappropriate of you to say...Last time I checked, it's not the job of you or me or anyone to judge whether or not someone is a "live music maniac" and whether or not that has any bearing on how much they enjoy the concerts they attend.Anyway...FWIW, The Avett Bros. were one of the biggest draws of Saturday at Bonnaroo, and that's even while interfering with Jimmy Cliff, The Melvins, and Mumford & Sons' sets. I only passed through, but there were at least as many people there as were there for Phoenix and The Flaming Lips. With that said, I still don't think they'll sell out Walnut Creek. But if they could do it anywhere, it'd probably be Raleigh. And as far as Koka Booth...I've heard from everyone that the sound there sucks if you get stuck on the lawn, but I've only been to one show there (My Morning Jacket) and we were in the pit, and the sound was fine. I think if you get in the pit, the sound will be just fine, but if you get stuck on the lawn, you're fucked.[Edited on June 28, 2010 at 2:16 PM. Reason : .]

6/28/2010 2:18:57 PM
I don't think i'll be going to this show, or very many TAB shows for awhile...mainly because of this

6/28/2010 3:04:20 PM
I haven't seen them live since 2003, but I had dinner with Jim Avett last weekend. Weird.
