It's more stressful now in school. Male and females alike are expected to do a lot more. The kids who did nothing in class etc still had a chance in life. They could get a good job just by using their street smarts and not being book smart. That just isn't the case anymore. Kids do 5 times more homework now than they did when I went to school and for what? It's been proven it doesn't help past a certain point.

Depression is at an all time high. Just look at anti depressant drug sales. Kids are starting drugs earlier, drinking earlier... and on top of that there is so much control over the kids and their lives they have no other recourse.

Back in the 1990's the number of families where both parents were working was much lower than today. Do you notice all those SUV's and other shit out there? Most parents can't afford the shit they have and they are stressed out about how to pay for it. This reflects off their kids who mimic parent behavior to some degree.

I was overwhelmed myself. My father is a double PH'D brilliant man. He reads a book and bam it's in his head. I just can't do that so I always felt inadequate when it came to learning. That leads to anti social behavior and bullies pick on you and that leads to anger.

My anger didn't come out killing people... but I did life a 9th grade by his neck and put him on a brick pillar 2 feet off the ground and made him eat the grape he through at me.

Its the pressure building on one person that affects another and the lack of attention they recieve to address it. When someone withdraws from social interaction it's generally a sign they are having trouble dealing with life. When they have noone to bring them back they either pull further away or put up a front. That front only lasts so long until life just isn't worth living and/or you are tired of taking all the pressure and it's time for some revenge.

The kid I lifted off the ground was half my size. He just happened to do something to me at the wrong time of the day.

How do we resolve this? Parents need to focus and pay attention to their kids. If this means getting a less paying job that require less hours then that's what they need to do. Our society is pushing so hard to suceed they forget the important things that are our children. Now don't get me wrong, not all parents are bad.

I grew up poor. So noone can tell me it's money. We had a nice house but that came from the divorce. We were so poor that we couldn't afford to buy Golden Grahams... we had tog et the store bought brand. I didn't get money for lunch often I had to take it... but every single night my mom would ask "have you done you're homework?" and "what did you do today". If she saw me in a mood she'd find a way to get it out of me.

Parent's today, and I see this a SHITLOAD.... don't listen to their kids. They don't give them the opportunity to talk.

When I got to highschool my mom was working a fulltime job and doing side work. We no longer ate dinner together, or talked and I was alone as far as parenting goes. There was no understanding of me as a person or who I was, or what I thought. There was no outlet.

At school I dealt with jocks and bullies who saw a big guy who didn't like to fight. That's instant harassment right there. It was hell for me. If I fought back I got in trouble. They had nothing to lose, I had everything to lose.

I identify with these kids on some level. I certainly don't think they should shoot people but in every single case there were signs. You hear about how these kids were good students or "he kept to himself". Bullshit. Read the full stories like the kids at columbine. Both of them had major issues and the parents didn't do even remotely enough to take care of their kids. There's a thousand things they could have done to prevent that.

It's too bad you don't hear about all the parents who DO take the time.

Ok, yah, so you know this topic is about school shootings and the correlation as with kids are becoming more violent and doing them.

TODAYS SCHOOL SHOOTERING IS BROUGHT TO YOU BY WIS

http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,216599,00.html

Quote :
"Principal John Klang was taken by helicopter to UW Hospitals in Madison, spokeswoman Lisa Brunette said.

The principal was apparently shot three times, according to Sauk County sheriff's Capt. Michael Haifemann. A janitor later disarmed the 15-year-old shooter, who was taken into custody by the sheriff's department.

The suspect came into the school and began firing one of his weapons, and was overheard saying, 'I'm not f---ing around with anyone,' Weston School District Secretary Jean earlier told local NBC affiliate WMTV.

Klang has been with the school for two years, and is believed to be 49 years old and married with children, Jean said.

A Richland County sheriff's official said students at the Weston School complex in Sauk County are safe. Police Chief Deputy Tom Hougan said the scene is secure.

"The students are safe," Hougan said. "The scene is secure.""

Today's School shooting: Pennsylvania, care of an Amish Community and school:

http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,217073,00.html
Cops: 'Number' of People Killed in Pennsylvania School Shooting

Monday, October 02, 2006
NICKEL MINES, Pa. — A "number" of people were killed in a shooting at a one-room Amish schoolhouse in Lancaster County Monday, Pennsylvania state police said.

"There are a number of people dead. ... The exact number I do not know yet," state police Cpl. Ralph Striebig said.

The police told FOX News that it was in fact a hostage situation and that the shooter is now killed. There were at least 12 people injured, along with the deaths, police said. Not motive is yet known.

There is a news conference scheduled at the school sometime before 1 p.m. ET.

The school is in Paradise Township on Mine Road, in Bart — an Amish community within the township. There are a total of 27 students in Wolf Rock School, where the shooting took place.

The Lancaster County 911 Web site reported that dozens of emergency units were dispatched to a "medical emergency" at 10:45 a.m. Monday.

About three-dozen Amish people congregated near the scene. Television news helicopters also showed a person being taken away on a stretcher to a waiting medical helicopter.

Officials at the Penn State Milton S. Hershey Medical Center confirmed that victims were being admitted there. A spokeswoman said the hospital anticipated treating more than one patient, but did not know how many.

FOX News' Rick Leventhal and The Associated Press contributed to this report.

With the frequency of these events (three in the last week) I have a feeling some nationwide legislation and hysteria is about to become headline news.

^ He's defining school shooting in the context of the original question in the thread, where a school shooting is some kids bringing a gun to school and shooting up their classmates.

"JOPLIN, Mo. - A 13-year-old student fired an AK-47 into the ceiling at his middle school Monday morning after confronting a pair of students and administrators, telling them, "please don't make me do this," officials said.

No one was injured, and the boy was taken into custody.

The student was wearing a mask and pointed the assault rifle at Principal Steve Gilbreth and Assistant Superintendent Steve Doerr, Superintendent Jim Simpson said.

Simpson said the teen told them "not to make me do this," then fired a shot into the ceiling, breaking a water pipe, and said again: "Please don't make me do this."

"It was a very close call," Simpson said.

Doerr and Gilbreth persuaded the student to leave the building, where he was confronted by two police officers with weapons drawn, Simpson said. He said the student dropped the rifle and was taken into custody.

Joplin police Officer Curt Farmer said officers also found a note in the student's backpack indicating that he had placed an explosive in the school, which has about 700 students. The other students were moved to nearby Joplin Memorial Hall, and the school was closed while officers searched the building.

The armed student, whose identity wasn't released, apparently had been planning an attack for a "long time," Simpson said. He didn't elaborate and said authorities did not know whether others were involved.

It wasn't immediately clear how the boy got access to the assault rifle.

The shooting happened about 7:45 a.m., 10 minutes before the start of classes. A woman who was dropping her son off at the school said she saw Gilbreth "waving crazily" and police cars pulling up behind her.

"Police were heading into the school with weapons drawn, and the principal was pointing to the east side of the school," Blake Spivak told The Joplin Globe.

Spivak, former advertising director for the newspaper, said she and her son, Cooper, stayed in the car while Gilbreth walked back into the school flanked by armed officers in protective jackets. She said an officer told her to get down or get her car away from the scene.

Joplin, which has about 40,900 residents, is in southwest Missouri, on the Kansas border about 140 miles south of Kansas City.

Schools across the country have been on alert since three deadly school shootings in three states in the span of a week, and several schools have been locked down or closed entirely during the past two weeks because of threats.

In Pennsylvania Amish country Monday morning, church bells tolled across the region in remembrance of the five young girls who were shot to death at their one-room schoolhouse one week earlier."

Once again you prove that critical reading was never your strong point.

based in part on what you wrote at the begining of the thread:

Quote :
"but kids bringing fucking heavy machinery to school has gone up like 200% since last year.Yeah, I know kids probably bring guns and knives to school everyday for protection, you'd say, I'd agree. But, now, there're kids coming out with serious issues, I'm talking about kids who come to school, not with defense of the team player in mind, but offense against the enemy team. These kids're coming out to kill others, irregardless, except that they attend their own school. "

Now if you meant ANYONE, it might have been worth saying that, but don't blame me or others for thinging that you're talking about kids who come to school and shoot people when you say exactly that.
