I AM THE MAN

Have you guys ever heard Chuck speak? Let's be serious...Points to support Chuck:He got us to a bowl last year--this point should be null, getting to a bowl in NCAA football is like making the NIT, 6 wins you make one, it means crap. On top of that, there should be no excuse for having the season we did last year with as much talent as we had.Heck the only good seasons Amato has had here is back when the team was stacked with young talent being lead by an NFL quarterback. Something has to hit the fan eventually...Are we a *great* team this year? No, but we should be beating Akron period.

ok I am going to make a serious post hereIn this post game interview, some reporter questions him about the excessive celebration call, and Chuck replies to it by saying "o the kids are so excited and I can't hodl each and everyone of them back...they know they were wrong...but they were so excited! how could i hold them all back!?" I mean are you fucking kidding me? Your authority and their respect for your leadership should hold them back...you know...Disciplinethats the type of shit that is absolutely inexcusable, in game, onf the field penalties are one thing, but that bullshit complete lack of control will never be fixed during Chuck's tenure, I'll promise you that and we'll be flushed further and further down the ACC shitter each season until we are fertilizing Duke's front lawn

^^agreed. We were making the dance in basketball. Now we're making bowls equivelent to the NIT if that and playing close games or lossing to teams like App and Akron.
9/10/2006 2:35:09 PM
Yes, Marcus played a HELL OF ALOT BETTER in game two of the season..there were too many dropped passes, an too many fumbles...and the penalties NCSU..WTF!!??

I support Chuck[Edited on September 10, 2006 at 2:54 PM. Reason : listening to that interview, you can really tell how disappointed he is]
9/10/2006 2:48:12 PM
I support chuck and all the players that are trying to win games for this school. They deserve better than us.
9/10/2006 3:00:35 PM

they don't really deserve anythingthey are all on academic scholarships and are expected to perform since they're getting a free college education
9/12/2006 10:23:09 PM
look down the road at WF, UNC, ECU, and Duke.we have been better than those teams consistently since Chuck has been here.we have won 4 out of 5 bowl gameswe have won big games against FSU, Notre Dame, GT, Maryland, and Clemson
9/12/2006 10:25:19 PM
typical authoritarian submissive thinking

I support chuck and all the players that are trying to win games for this school. They deserve better than us chuck.
9/12/2006 10:27:50 PM
we are better now than we were under the previous coach, and thats a fact!
9/12/2006 10:28:01 PM
How is that a fact? Their conference records are exactly the same. Yes, O'Cain's OOC record was worse, but he also didn't fill his OOC slate with cupcakes like UMass, Richmond, App State, Akron (whooops) every year. We consistently played 1-2 solid Top 25 teams each year (Cuse in the McNabb years, Texas, Louisville). Ask yourself this: are we really better off with Amato, esp. post Rivers? We've dumped millions upon millions into fixing up C-F, the talent is light years beyond where it was, and yet we still get a 23-25 ACC record, the same thing O'Cain got without all these fixins. Amato can still save this season if he can find a QB worth a damn and get the D to be able to handle a team that goes straight at them (the D stuffed Akron's spread plays, but couldn't hold them when they went straight at the guys with vertical runs/routes), but for the money and expectations Chuck himself has raised, it's time to start producing consistent 8 win teams (at least). It's ludicrous that we would be in "rebuilding" mode after a 7-5, 3-5 ACC record. 7-5, 3-5 should be rebuilding.
9/12/2006 11:05:47 PM
^^ NO we actually aren't.Read this^.MOC was 6-5, 7-5, and 6-6 in his last 3 years and was fired just about only because he couldn't beat UNC, who was the 2nd best team in the ACC back them.
9/12/2006 11:36:13 PM
9/13/2006 12:09:20 AM
9/13/2006 9:56:04 AM
amato is 23-25 in the acc, career.he is 46-28 overall. amato beats up on crappy ooc teams and can't win one out of two acc games.
9/13/2006 10:20:38 AM
oh yes, and Phillip rivers also played defense, and Phillip rivers blocked all those kicks in recent years, and Phillip rivers ran those routes, and blocked for TA and of course, RAN the ball too....Yes PR was crucial to amato's early success, however he wasn't the only factor. The program has improved, and if you only look at the win/loss column you are missing a lot. Recruitment has vastly improved, facilities are amazing, and there is lots of excitement for a program that used to be a distraction to tailgating during the 90's.
9/13/2006 10:24:12 AM
facilities: yesrecruiting: yes, but that is obviously not translating into wins right nowexcitement: i would say that the excitement was gone down quite a bit in the last 2 years and 2 games

had unc and virginia to beat up on?unc and virginia were prob. the second and third best teams in the acc for the majority of the ocain era. unc was always really good under brown and virginia under welsh (they were one of the first teams to beat fsu in the acc). they did not get to beat up on those teams. they were better than us most of the time. (also he was fired for his ability not to beat UNC, so he wasn't mildly successful at that).dude, the point most of the people have that are not in support of chuck anymore is that it appears we are regressing. this is not the sign of a program on the right track. neither is not being able to keep a staff together.i am not an advocate of firing chuck at this point either. but i do believe that he needs to start producing results. the only point i am trying to make is that so many people hated o'cain but the past 2 years, well really all amato's years except for one, have been similar to ocain's and yet still so many people don't want to criticize him at all. sure, recruitng and facilites have improved, but it is up to this point, not leading to many more quality wins.and is this even possible:
9/13/2006 10:37:13 AM
maybe rick barnes could coach the team
9/13/2006 10:40:53 AM
Brown left UNC in what 97 and his last 3 years were his best, under ocain we had a 6 or 7 year lossing streak to them. UVA was the first to beat FSU yes, and welsh was a good coach, however, we had a decent record against them.Agreed, results, including not lossing to akron is what everyone wants, however I still think amato is different than O'Cain. I'm not sure I can fully expaling why I think so but I do. and for my above quote, I meant we were ahead of the curve for teams like clemson and maryland, but those teams have surpassed us. we are improving in that our program has improved under CTC.For those who don't support CTC, who is your REALISTIC replacement? Who is going to want to replace an Alumni coach? I haven't heard a single reasonable replacement yet....
9/13/2006 10:51:37 AM
9/13/2006 10:57:57 AM
yeah... Ocain would beat texas and then lose to baylor!!!!I still support Chuck, but I want to see some improvementsBTW... how many of you people bitching donate to the WPC?
9/13/2006 11:13:55 AM
Uh, I give to the WPC and am NOT bitching.Go Pack!
9/13/2006 11:21:20 AM
To Earl and Tha Big Girl:Stop making worthless threads about your mindless support of a shitty team. Our team sucks and Chuck is not a good coach. I hope we do better, but until we do stop making these threads.

Until contract ends do us part,I support Chuck Amato.Hopefully he can still turn things around, but I will admit I am a bit pessimistic about the situation. But wouldnt it be just dandy if we started winning again?^^^the last line is the best[Edited on September 17, 2006 at 1:49 PM. Reason : ^^^]

THE WOLFPACK NATION is still behind Coach Amato

one or two big wins, just cause he wins one game doesnt make up for all the shitty games(alot more of those).....reminds me of another former head coach at State.[Edited on September 24, 2006 at 2:56 AM. Reason : w]
