The solution is to start handing out beatdowns to the people that make the wolfline suck. Complaining on TWW won't do any good and there are plenty of decent citizens that use the bus.

Should have thought of that when you caught that guy trying to reach into your coat, but I bet you just sat there and waited nervously for your chance to get off the bus.

But don't get caught! By the time the bed-wetting liberals get a hold of the story, you'll be portrayed as having assaulted a saint or some such.

Bottom line: State buses should be provided primarily for State students ("Students First," which is the motto of Student Affairs) and secondarily for faculty and staff. The type of system I described worked for years here--until the powers that be fucked it up. A modified line from the movie _Accepted_ should be the new motto of Wolfline: "Ride with us--if you have hobo stab insurance!"

I was a driver when it wasn't open to the public and checking an ID was the exception, not the norm.

Besides, I like the U-PASS system. I get a ride to work for free (downtown).

To clear up Skack's questions:

1) I didn't feel like causing a big stink over it, especially because I was just so suprised at the ordeal that I was sort of counfounded by it. Also, I wasn't 100% sure at the time if he had just bumped into me accidentally, and the last thing I needed was to be on the evening news for beating the shit out of someone for no reason or had rushed to judgement (especially someone of a different race). So I guess I used the better safe than sorry perspective, since I really couldn't win either way.

2) Coat, well a better term would have been "rain jacket"


I have contacted NCSU transit and got a nice email back from them where they said that they would continue to invesigate claims and what not, and they are also looking at ways of improving safety on the busses in light of some of my comments. I think they are doing a good job and I am confidant that something I said may help to lead to better training for drivers and police.

I've ridden the Wolfline several times a day, every day this semester. I've never had a problem like Scuba Steve is talking about. Although I rarely ride the night service.

I rode the Wolfline for five and a half years with out any problems. Part of that time was prior to opening it to the general public and I didn't notice much of a difference when they opened it to the public. Only a few non-students on the bus at non-peak hours. No biggie.

However, I can understand the concern about the Werewolf. I had some very bad feelings about getting off of the Werewolf and having to walk several blocks to my house on Method Road in the ghetto. And if it's open to the general public late at night, I can imagine that there are some sketch people who ride it. I think making the Werewolf students only is a great idea.
