Macaroni Grill > OG

macaroni grill is pretty good but i hate how the restaurant feels like one big room.

I think I'm going to be too high falootin' for Olive Garden from now on.I'll sit hella upright, wipe my mouth with a napkin, and start drinking unsweetened tea while I'm at it.Please don't stain my doilies if I invite you over for tea.
8/31/2006 6:30:19 PM
what the hell is "falootin'"
8/31/2006 6:32:52 PM
Chili's fucked me over one time when the To-Go chick hung up the phone on me, then I got there 20 min after I called and my food still wasn't ready, so I waited another 15 minutes, they bring out my "food" and it wasn't even what i ordered. They didn't offer me a discount or anything, so I wrote a Nasty Letter to corporate and by some magical surprise, I got a $30 gift card in the mail, along with a letter from the manager later in the week stating that my situation should not have been delt with "in that manor".
8/31/2006 6:47:03 PM
i'm not talking about for a place to go on a date or special occasion. im talking about a normal night that you don't feel like cooking. i go to these type of places 3-4 days a week and the ruths chris type places once a week. sure some place in the middle of cary might be better, but are they at a convient location for everyone. no. do they have a good all you can eat salad and breadsticks? i doubt it. the best thing about og is the salad and bread. they also have a large selection of unique wines. it all depends on what you call average. imo the average restaurant is like an applebees ruby tuesday tgi fridays bar and grill type places. below average would be golden coral and expensive fast foodof course applebees isnt on the level of ruths chris carvers creek peddler angus barn kanki etc etc etc. those are top of teh line restaurants.
8/31/2006 6:48:06 PM
518 uses frozen sauces too. most places do. just cause an OG server told you that OG uses frozen sauces doesnt mean that the place sucks. i mean dont get me wrong, im not an og fan... but to dislike it cause of the sauce being frozen. baaaaaafind a real reason.

^you cheap bastard
8/31/2006 7:44:22 PM
I personally like Olive Garden....yeah, its very commercialized, very Americanized.......so what. Its still good, and it has good variety. Plus the never-ending soup, salad, and breadsticks IS da shit.Yeah, Carraba's and Romano's Macaroni Grill are better food. But both, to me, feel cramped. You can easily hear your neighbor's conversation. Not at OG.Btw, you SHOULD be able to get refills w/ sausages and different pastas/sauces. Technically, the $2 is really supposed to be for one bowl's worth of sausage, or atleast it used to be that way. But a quick bitch to the manager will fix that. Its a common complaint, and they commonly take care of it by refilling w/ sausages. Same w/ meatballs.
8/31/2006 8:24:59 PM
^that is incorrect. I went to olive garden tonight (yes, i'm a hypocritter) and got the never ending pasta deal and they refilled my sausage as much as i wanted.

cinelli's in durham is some good stuff too.
8/31/2006 10:11:26 PM
There is a Cinellis on Six Forks at the "Celebration" shopping center too. It is very good. I was hesitant about going to an italian place that is in a shopping center, but the atmosphere is actually very nice inside and the food is good.

Olive garden does suck.4 foods 40 ways.
8/31/2006 10:32:28 PM
i am a fat fuck because i eat dinner at least 3-4 nights a week? you must be a somalia fuck
8/31/2006 11:11:39 PM
we eat dinner out 3-4 times a week because my parents are too tired/sick to cook when they get home from work. we have a small binder with a bunch of restaurant to-go menus in it.
8/31/2006 11:13:19 PM
ya, we eat out about 5 times a week counting pizza and chinese[Edited on August 31, 2006 at 11:17 PM. Reason : 1 great restaurant per week]

the olive garden is what gives chain restaraunts a bad name
8/31/2006 11:55:21 PM
you guys bitch about the shitty things that happen to you at restaurants like the people that work there really give a fuck....b/c we dont
9/1/2006 12:01:44 AM
i feel sorry for you that you work at a place as shitty as the olive garden

I can't stand people who are "above" lower-end chain restaurants. That being said,
9/1/2006 12:40:36 PM
i don't consider myself above chains but i avoid them if i can - i eat out typicaly mon/tues/wed every week b/c i travel and i expense it - sometimes it just gets old
9/1/2006 12:41:58 PM
9/1/2006 12:42:54 PM
It definitely gets old, but if chain food was that bad they wouldn't be so successful. They have a formula, carry it out, and people accept it because it's usually reliable and it takes away the concern over not knowing what to expect.

WHEN DID I SAY YOU DID?
9/1/2006 12:46:33 PM
9/1/2006 12:47:55 PM
it was implied by quoting me and then making some half-relevant assertion.
9/1/2006 12:48:56 PM
^^ No disagreeing with you there. It just depends what mood I'm in... if I just want a meal, I don't mind a reliable chain. If I want something more adventureous, I'm not going to be in a place like Olive Garden.
9/1/2006 12:50:12 PM
9/1/2006 12:50:22 PM
^^^ The only thing I implied was that you would probably pay more to eat a higher-end place because you seem to think you are better than most and would not eat amongst proles like myself, independent of the quality of food.[Edited on September 1, 2006 at 12:54 PM. Reason : ^]

nm[Edited on September 1, 2006 at 12:53 PM. Reason : nm]
9/1/2006 12:52:43 PM
^^ I don't care who else is where I eat, but you can get quality food for the same price at many other places. I'm above eating at Olive Garden because it's shitty food, the "trailer trash" thing was a facetious aside.
9/1/2006 12:58:59 PM
9/1/2006 1:03:37 PM
If my standard is not paying $30 for a steak that is worth maybe $15 at the most, than yes, you have "higher" standards than me. This would be referring to Ruth's Chris NY Strip.[Edited on September 1, 2006 at 1:16 PM. Reason : .]
9/1/2006 1:11:10 PM
i think hes pointing out that there are other places besides the shit chains that offer good food at the same price.[Edited on September 1, 2006 at 1:12 PM. Reason : df]
9/1/2006 1:12:10 PM
Well I'm pointing out that there are a lot of non-chains that charge more for food that isn't better than the chains'. But some people gosta have they standards![Edited on September 1, 2006 at 1:13 PM. Reason : I ADDED AN APOSTROPHE]
9/1/2006 1:13:21 PM
then you're talking about something different then him....you shouldnt be referencing his post.[Edited on September 1, 2006 at 1:14 PM. Reason : df]
