Looks like it was, indeed, a single house contamination. They've disconnected the house from the water supply and said that none of the neighbors' houses showed signs of a problem, but the boil water notice is still in effect until they've completely flushed out the system (or whatever it is they're doing).

I am not sure if there is some outlined procedure to handle this kind of situation, but it just seems really odd to me that even though this pretty much looks like an isolated incident that a lot of businesses are still closed in cary.i know you would rather be safe than sorry, but i think that there is something that the Town of Cary is not telling the public. As a whole i am sure that restaurants in Cary are losing millions of $$$ this weekend and Cary seems so reluctant to let anyone open back up

I'd like to know how I am supposed to take a shower and wash my hair without getting water in my eyes, nose, or mouth.Fortunately, I was out of town until last night. I made sure to grab a shower and plenty of bottled water before coming back to my Cary apartment, but now I'd like to take a shower and our water still hasn't been deemed safe yet.-------------I'm on the fence about this whole thing. Sure, E. coli is nasty and very contagious. I can understand why they might want to be extra cautious about the entire situation. But at the same time, it's only a single house that they have already disconnected from the system and 40 other test sites were fine.Either way, I'm going to follow orders until they give us the go ahead to start living normally again.

Our maintenance guy thinks its from when they were working at the sewer plant (or something to do with a sewer) a few weeks ago and there was a line break and they hushed it up. Typical Cary if it's true

I am sure there are a lot of people that all ready forgot about that spill too, and it's not like they are going to say yeah remember when we fucked up a couple weeks back.....this is why this is going on. The town of Cary doesnt want to be deemed responsible for all this mess it has called.

i bet the people that live in my old house are happy they have that well now

The best part was the newsletter that they included with the last water bill. The one from the beginning of August was bragging up and down about how great their water quality was - here is an excerpt:
