was the end supposed to be funny?
9/25/2006 11:02:06 PM
no
9/25/2006 11:20:47 PM
so in a tv show about a comedy show, the comedy show isn't supposed to be funny?
9/25/2006 11:26:07 PM
Tonight's show....ehhhhhhhhhhh.
9/26/2006 12:24:06 AM
I fucking loved every second of it.Seriously, you guys may be trying to make it something it isn't, tearing it in two different directions and whatnot.Like, I don't care about the action. I'm already ready to sit here quietly and watch the characters. That's how deep I'm in.
9/26/2006 12:34:47 AM
love this show
9/26/2006 9:03:20 AM
I thought this show was great. I missed first episode but I think I caught up pretty well. I was interested from the get and genuinely laughed through out the show. I have to see first episode now.Oh and I thought the end was pretty funny, especially the last part where Perry was smiling only to turn and look at the clock and be in dismay. just watched it last night. it definitely got better in the second half. i'm going to give it at least 3 three episodes to get its legs.
9/27/2006 11:17:42 AM
I was hoping this show would be funnier. I haven't been overly impressed with the first two episodes (and that says a lot b/c I like Perry and Peet a lot) but will give it a few more chances.
9/27/2006 1:36:29 PM
that's funny because perry and peet were the two characters i was worried aboutperry has shown himself pretty well, i still don't like peet.

acting seems forced? the roles are great, the acting is greatthis show will win awards
9/27/2006 2:46:12 PM
Yes, its forced. There is no smooth transitions, and certain situations seem to have too much acting going on to try and produce a good show. It doesn't flow like a good show should. Some scenes I would consider very annoying just because the acting is so over the top. Obviously this is an issue since its already been mentioned numerous times.and btw, I think I posted this before, the critics seem to love it, so that means its going to be canceled.[Edited on September 27, 2006 at 5:10 PM. Yeah, Perry is the lone bright spot so far. I loved the thing last night about the clock. That was hilarious the way he played that."How does it keep counting back from that point if it was turned off?""It has a battery."

tv's not about realityreality tv isn't even about realitytv is about fiction and fantasy[Edited on September 27, 2006 at 8:12 PM. Reason : would you want to watch a show everyweek that was basically about your job?]
9/27/2006 8:09:17 PM
No, but my job isn't working on the coolest show on TV.
9/27/2006 8:18:57 PM
my job isn't to write/produce a major broadcast comedy show, its an entertaining show. ^exactlywe get it, you don't like the show, and you don't get the point. just stop caring and move on to the next show.[Edited on September 27, 2006 at 8:20 PM. Reason : .]
9/27/2006 8:19:50 PM
if you don't care, hey!, quit posting about why it sucks.the negativity in this thread discourages me because I thought the second episode was far better than the first, and funnier. love the cast, love the writer/creator.What's not to like about this show? dozens of great shows have focused on less-interesting things and had a more predictable formula/set-up. This week's episode had the great "cooler heads prevail" flow of the west wing where the overall plot of a story arc or season isn't as important as the funny conversations and clever ways in which incredibly-talented characters get out of jams. Which is nice... and maybe, just maybe, this show will give us something as awesome as the last 7 episodes of The West Wing's second season.
9/27/2006 8:29:12 PM
I have both episodes on tape and i just havent found any time to watch this show yet. maybe tomorrow morning if i can fit it in, probably not.
9/27/2006 9:07:30 PM
9/27/2006 9:20:55 PM
my dvr fucked up the other night so i started to watch it 15 minutes in and then i fell asleep so i didn't get to finish it...either way. it's fixed for next week. love this show.
9/27/2006 10:13:04 PM
^ I missed it too...but they're replaying it now on Bravo.
9/27/2006 11:17:53 PM
^its also on the NBC website

I hardcore love this show.
9/28/2006 4:50:43 PM
^^so don't watch it
9/28/2006 5:40:44 PM
This show grabbed me instantly. Perry is funny and does carry alot of the show. But the subtle humor is what really keeps me going. DL Hughley part is small so far but has been on point - "I can't do the voices"...The other guy partner/writer with Perry-I hate him as an actor jus b/c I never like any of his characters but it works for this show...The acting is strong and not pressed too much, and the people's personalities mesh pretty well to mkae you think they are living the show...I never felt that the acting was forced, and the premise is very realistic. Right now they are laying foundation...and they are doing a helluva job III
9/28/2006 6:14:01 PM
^ I agree with all of that. I think the show is absolutely fantastic. I feel like I should get a clock telling me how long until the show comes back on (the NBC show, not the NBS show)
9/29/2006 10:27:45 AM
yep, this one's a keeper.
10/2/2006 10:58:05 PM
woo hoothey got ratings!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!...
10/2/2006 10:58:43 PM
I STILL FUCKING LOVE THIS SHOW!
10/2/2006 11:06:05 PM
you know what is REALLY FUCKING SAD?CSI: MIAMI has been beating this show in the ratings. CSI: Miami !!!---------------------------------------------------------------excellent show tonight.I'm glad Charlie keeps his vigilant eye on this show so he can continue to impart his snide comments. This show will definitely make it to season 2.[Edited on October 2, 2006 at 11:12 PM. Reason : -]

^3?Studio 60, 30 Rock...then what?
10/2/2006 11:31:10 PM
I do agree with you on that one. WTF are they thinking with 30 Rock
10/2/2006 11:35:19 PM
thought tonight's episode was good
10/3/2006 2:22:01 AM
^^ They're thinking that the best people to be on a show about SNL are a longtime SNL performer, a perennial SNL host, and the SNL head writer?
10/3/2006 2:36:17 AM
10/3/2006 7:35:24 AM
last night's show had me until that cheesy-ass montage at the end.
10/3/2006 8:30:22 AM
^Agreed. The show is outstanding, but they need to not show us the sketches ever. They're never going to be as good(or, when the time comes, bad) as they're supposed to be for the purpsoes of the story.Still, between this and Heroes, I'm loving Monday night.[Edited on October 3, 2006 at 9:41 AM. 10/3/2006 9:38:45 AM
I think every show is using cheesy montages at the end of the episodes now. I also noticed Dawn from the British version of The Office towards the beginning of the episode.
10/3/2006 11:10:22 AM
They are really drilling hard the whole religious people are nut-jobs jokes. Really original. Are they going to milk that the entire season?
10/3/2006 12:12:12 PM
Yes. Is that a problem?
10/3/2006 12:15:45 PM
^^^yeah i saw dawn too as a member of the cast.
10/3/2006 12:35:47 PM
^^^I imagine the nutty Christians have a huge impact on lots of television shows, including SNL...they're a major antagonistic force that cannot be dealt with in just one episode.
10/3/2006 2:45:02 PM
Update: I REALLY hardcore love this show.
10/3/2006 4:58:08 PM
I also imagine that the nutty Christian angle is going to bring things to a head as we roll into the end of this season.
