There are some very funny bits in J&SBSB, but I hate HATE HATE it.

Crede, you are forgetting many things here.you call opie and anthony a slimy show. they are one of the largest morning shows in the largest market in the us, with syndication all over the nation. they have a very, very loyal following in the 20-30 year old male demographic. isnt this exactly the audience that will go see this movie, a movie littered with dick and fart jokes? arent these the exact people that kevins smith would rather go see and enjoy the movie than an eldery critic who revels about such movies as Hitch and War of the Worlds?i mean come on, why the fuck would kevin smith give a shit about him anyways. when you make a movie such as that, you know its not going to please everyone. the o&a following alone will probably gross more than $5mill for the movie.

I bought Jay and Silent Bob strike back last night and watched it with some friendsI laughed a lot, it was a funny ass movieand today when I get home from work, Im watching Clerks again and going to see the movie tonight
7/21/2006 8:19:51 AM
Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back, imo, is kevin's weakest movie in the "series"
7/21/2006 8:25:38 AM
the way I see it is, these are peoples opinions, nobody has to like everything someone else does...I like the Kevin Smith movies, and if some of you dont, thats cool... Im sure I dont like some of the shit you do...but im not going to sit on here and try and change your opinion, Im going to go see the movie and enjoy it... Anyone else want to go, let me know

I think both Siegel and Smith have been exposed as douches as a result of this affair. Just consider the fact that no respectable hollywood director would go on Opie and Anthony to confront a movie critic. It's not so much "respect" as it is class; neither of them have demonstrated it.
7/21/2006 9:24:43 AM
7/21/2006 9:38:48 AM
Ok, let me rephrase that:Just consider the fact that no respectable hollywood director would go on Opie and Anthony AND confront a movie critic in person on-air.
7/21/2006 9:45:08 AM
So basically, you have a problem with him going on a radio program to cater to his target audience?
7/21/2006 9:56:25 AM
oh, he can do whatever he wants to cater to his audience. in fact, I'm sure this publicity is doing wonders for the promotion of clerks 2. he's still a tool and he'll still be eating at the kids' table in hollywood for the rest of his life.
7/21/2006 9:58:51 AM
so you're saying Kevin Smith isn't a self-absorbed egotistical prick who thinks he's above everything?yeah, maybe he should just do Diane Sawyer interviews, marry washed-up blondes, pal around with Tom Hanks, and buy completely into the smoke-up-the-ass blowing nobodies in hollywood.
7/21/2006 11:20:09 AM
straw man, nice
7/21/2006 11:23:03 AM
so do you think "class" has a bearing on whether or not their movies are any good?
7/21/2006 11:30:51 AM
I think Kevin Smith has no class and is a douche after this week. I don't care if he sells out to hollywood or not, going on a radio show and confronting a movie critic on-air is just plain stupid and classless. I don't care about his movie.
7/21/2006 11:34:37 AM
Im sure Kevin Smith doesnt care if people are talking shit about him on the interwebdidnt you see jay and silent bob strike back?
7/21/2006 11:35:59 AM
did you hear Kevin Smith on the OA show?
7/21/2006 11:36:21 AM
I was joking, I dont care what TWW thinks of him
7/21/2006 11:37:37 AM
let me summarize the O&A segmentkevin smith:"SIR that is UNPROFESSIONAL for you to be a JACKASS like that."joel: "nyaaaaaaaaa"kevin smith:"SIR DO NOT DISMISS ME. you were a jackass when you walked out the theatre like that"joel: "nyaaaaaaaaa"x 100000
7/21/2006 11:38:11 AM
well regardless Joel Siegel was contacted by OandA staff DURING the Kevin Smith interview, and unbeknownst to Kevin until the time when they actually said "we have joel siegel on the line."Siegel didn't even know it was Kevin Smith actually there until the phone call was almost over.Regardless of how they "looked" to people who care, it was damn good radio.
7/21/2006 11:41:51 AM
yeah and kevin preached to him for like 25 fucking minutes, at least. gmafb.
7/21/2006 11:42:48 AM
well yea, at least sets of commercial breaks passed through the interview. The siegel part was only like the last 5 or so.but whatever, i dont even know what we're arguing about anymore
7/21/2006 11:45:23 AM
me neither. I'm not even supposed to be here today.
7/21/2006 11:47:37 AM
Yea Kevin Smith is a friend of the show and had this gig planned well in advance. Jason Mewes was in there after this and had a fucking hilarious story about his drug habits. As was said earlier, Siegel was called during the show by the staff and Kevin and Joel were both surprised by it as is obvious by the commentary. And O&A are the best thing to hit radio since Stern. Sorry fellas, they just do damn good fucking radio. Sure Stern was great back in his heyday, but how can you not get fucking douche chills listen to him running around the Hamptons and being everything he used to talk so much shit about. I Siriusly (haha) think that him leaving FM was the best thing to happen to the bbbbboys, since it gives them free reign to be the kings of FM and promote their XM show as well for free.
7/21/2006 12:12:29 PM
well to be honest I think Don and Mike edge out OandA, but i listen to both every day, so no worries
7/21/2006 12:17:15 PM
don and mike are the bestest
7/21/2006 12:18:14 PM
Ugh, Don and Mike are the bestest at being shittiest.
7/21/2006 12:19:07 PM
no, bob and tom and bob and madison and lex and terry and bob and the showgram and the morning zoos and the breakfast flakes are the bestest at being shittiest.[Edited on July 21, 2006 at 12:24 PM. Reason : and johnboy and billy]
7/21/2006 12:24:17 PM
^^OMG NO THEYRE NOT TAKE THAT BACK[Edited on July 21, 2006 at 12:24 PM. Reason : df]
7/21/2006 12:24:24 PM
actually, Bill O'Reilly, Jay Severin, Penn Gillette, and Big O and Dukes in baltimore are all pretty bad.
7/21/2006 12:27:29 PM
Big O and Dukes got cancelled about a year ago.and i agree, it was horrible.[Edited on July 21, 2006 at 12:28 PM. Reason : df]
7/21/2006 12:28:17 PM
Ok yea the ones you listed are ACTUALLY the shittiest along with Bob & Sheri, and the little war between O&A and Don & Mike was fucking radio gold, so I will give them just a touch of respect.Mancow fucking suxed too, glad he got the damn axe in Chi-Town.[Edited on July 21, 2006 at 12:37 PM. Reason : ]
7/21/2006 12:36:57 PM
I don't want to say much even about the paranoia agents who stalk O&A to find Kevin smiths machivelian plans to conquer the world, or the people who found the clerks spinoffs better than this film, so I'll say this, Clerks two was/is a waste of loot.
7/21/2006 12:43:34 PM
did you see it?
7/21/2006 12:48:32 PM
A fat guy with a mullet from Jersey, classless? Crede, surely you jest.
7/21/2006 3:45:44 PM
wait, what's this thread about
7/21/2006 4:57:45 PM
The first thirty minutes or so was rough, but I really enjoyed it. From the porch monkey scene on, it was killing me. Definitely enjoyed it. My main beef would be the half-assed attempt at putting in pop culture discussions (the whole LOTR thing), and the fact that Jen Schwalbach is a hideous ghoul who can't act and really shouldn't be on film. Other than that, I liked it.
7/21/2006 5:37:59 PM
Can I just say that Jennifer Schwalbach was overdramatic in her part on Degrassi?THINK ABOUT THAT.
7/21/2006 7:26:39 PM
i enjoyed it, not as laugh out loud funny as some of his others but it was fun, enjoyable and a feel good movie.....and parts of it were laugh out loud funny.....ie buffalo bill scene
7/21/2006 9:52:48 PM
is this one of those "if you like the original youll love this" kinda sequel, or does it go for a broader audience/different kind of humorcause i loved the firsthaha making fuck
7/21/2006 9:56:44 PM
7/21/2006 9:57:03 PM
to be fairthey did bring up star wars in the first, if you wanna call that selling out too
7/21/2006 9:58:14 PM
I don't give a shit if they're talking about the goddamn Cabbage Patch kids as long as it's funny. It's not selling out to talk about LOTR, that doesn't even make any sense. What I'm saying is that the LOTR v. Star Wars discussion just isn't that funny.J_Hova, it isn't as funny as the first one, but it's better than Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back, and, while that isn't saying a whole lot, I definitely think it's worth a watch if you like the first one.
7/21/2006 10:07:42 PM
No, it's not funny, and they're sellouts for redoing old tricks, you're just quoting the subtle text wrong. You won't get your god damn money back either, so don't take that tone with me, you've already seen the warning!
7/21/2006 11:17:14 PM
I fail to see how attempting to go back to what has worked in the past is selling out.You know he dropped out of a much bigger film, The Green Hornet, to do this one instead, right?
7/21/2006 11:19:44 PM
I thought it was pretty funny.
7/21/2006 11:31:43 PM
Jon, that pretty much turns out well for both movies.
7/21/2006 11:34:07 PM
the 9:30 and the midnight at my theater both sold out, from what i saw waiting in the back of the theater to clean it was pretty funny. i'll hit it up next week when i'm off.
7/22/2006 12:30:00 AM
i saw it last night.i thought it was hysterical. I can definitly see why a critic would walk out, though...you have to have the right mindset to enjoy this movie.
