I think people are just starting to wise up and realize that they are a shitty band and completely devoid of any remarkable talent. Also, nerds listen to Weezer. Gorillaz and Weezer are the two essential bands for nerds/dorks.
7/25/2006 2:42:40 PM
haha i remember when that clint eastwood song came out going into 11th grade, it was crazy
7/25/2006 2:50:56 PM
Dammit.According to Pitchfork, Weezer is not breaking up.http://www.pitchforkmedia.com/page/news/Weezer_Deny_Breakup_Rumors#38098Fuck.
8/22/2006 4:02:50 PM

8/22/2006 4:08:45 PM
OH SNAP!CALLED OUT!
8/22/2006 4:12:14 PM
Yeah, someone covered the Pitchfork post from TODAY, a MONTH AGO.
8/22/2006 4:14:54 PM
8/22/2006 4:23:55 PM
Yeah, I realize that this information may have been posted earlier. But now Pitchfork has reported it, and considering how everyone has a hard on for them, and the fact that the previous sources weren't the most credible, I decided to post the new story. Is that okay with you?
8/22/2006 4:28:09 PM
Pitchfork has sucked for years. No one has a hard on for them.
8/22/2006 4:56:35 PM
8/22/2006 5:23:24 PM
Well, that's what we thought when Rivers said the band *was* breaking up. Evidently the band members can no longer be trusted. But crappy internet news can. Look, I don't know where the line is drawn, I was just posting what I thought was relevant information. And now it has been posted, and we can all put this ugly incident behind us.
8/22/2006 5:33:03 PM
Weezer is a fucking terrible band.
8/22/2006 5:41:09 PM
^ while i think everyone would agree that weezer is now a terrible band, to say that pinkerton is in any way a terrible album is incorrect

I'd be interested in knowing how Ernie posted in a thread that hadn't been posted in in almost 8 months.
4/14/2007 10:54:43 PM
They used to make quality, so this might've an impact in earlier years. But, right now, it's like saying Blur might break up.

i too own all the albums, along with a few bootlegsbut none of the last 3 are in my itunes library
6/26/2007 5:08:49 PM
weezer's genre is dead...they killed it with pinkerton. angst rock is long gone, and since we can't have it back, weezer in its true form cannot come back. and since we live in a society that wont let bands reinvent themselves, weezer will never be good.same goes for smashing pumpkins.
6/26/2007 5:12:30 PM
i dono it depends, there are bands that have 'reinvented' themselves into something GOOD and thats fine. (heck weezer sort of reinvented themselves from the blue album to pinkterton). Codeseven is a great example of this. They got very popular on the college scene back in the day with their earlier stuff having a heavy sound. They came back with their next 2 albums sounding NOTHING at all like their early stuff but every single one of their CDs is solid.
6/26/2007 5:17:01 PM
codeseven werent objects of worship like weezer and smashing pumpkins...they can transition and reinvent because they'll only find new fans anyways.
6/26/2007 5:26:00 PM
I posted this in another thread, but it may be more relevant in this one:

shit, Pinkerton FTMFW

So this thread got me thinking. Knowing all of the b-sides, demos, and other recordings are out there (and ignoring the hundreds of demos Cuomo has recorded that have never been heard), could I make Weezer's career suck a little less? The answer I think is a definite yes. It still gets weak at the end, but I think their legacy would be a hell of a lot better if things had gone something like this. Most of these songs are from the appropriate time frames, with a little shifting every now and then.1994 - The Blue Album - AS IS (41 minutes)1996 - Souvenirs, Novelties, Party Tricks (40 minutes)1. Ooh2. Mykel and Carli3. Lemonade4. Chess5. Mrs. Young6. Souvenirs, Novelties, Party Tricks7. Susanne8. The Purification of Water9. I Need Some Touch10. Jamie11. Lullaby for Wayne12. Slob rules too...
1/29/2008 2:42:47 PM
Rivers and Weezer have a lot of good unreleased stuff, but there's a whole lot of the Homie and Kitchen Tapes/pre-Blue Album that sucks major dick.
1/29/2008 2:47:40 PM
Today around noon the WKNC DJ dedicated "The World Has Turned and Left Me Here" to TWW
1/29/2008 3:13:43 PM
bring back matt sharp please
1/29/2008 3:30:54 PM
They invited Matt Sharp back. Twice. He declined and has also said he hasn't listened to the last 3 albums but if they sucked they would probably suck even if he was still there. I'm not sure I agree with that, but I do think that fans overblow Matt Sharp's contributions to those first two albums to a great degree.
1/29/2008 3:34:50 PM
it's possible, but I do think he added that quirkiness that has seemed so forced on the last few albums. That, and it's just easier to blame the absence of Matt Sharp then to admit that Weezer blew their load with the first two albums and will never be good again
1/29/2008 3:38:52 PM
My theory is that what the band has been missing without Sharp is someone to point out what is good and what sucks. It's become pretty clear that everyone in the band has shit taste in music, and Rivers especially has no idea what his best material is. So now you have people like Rick Rubin telling him what songs he should record and how he should approach music and whatnot. And then you've got the current bassist Scott Shriner, who seems like a pretty god damn cool guy, but really doesn't seem to know much about music and just wants to "rock". I feel like if Sharp was around maybe he would say "No, I'm not recording Beverly Hills because it sucks balls and you've written much better stuff." I'm probably completely wrong about this.
