7/17/2006 6:12:40 PM
Just start using Old school as your pet forum. I've got your back.
7/18/2006 10:43:10 AM
Seriously. When you've spent real time on this site and are part of the community and not some whiny n00b someone knows, then you've got a case. But to come in here and post like 3 times then demand some democracy to conform this site to what you want is bullshit. Or, as you would type it, bull****.Quit thinking you're people.
7/18/2006 12:21:52 PM
what i dont understand is why you people have petsi understand when you are out of schoolbut why add responsiblity now?
7/18/2006 3:06:47 PM
if we had a pet forum you could start a thread and ask everyoneoh shucks

this has got to be the most asinine retarded thread. If you want some say start your own website, TWW survived without you before you joined and will survive without your whiny ass when you leave. Old School is for people that have been on the site for a long time or who are older. Its a way to keep up with goings on without clogging up the Lounge or Chit Chat. Pet Threads fall with in the realm of Lounge acceptable topics, don't bitch because you don't know how to use the search feature. If you need specific advice on pet care go to a pet care web forum.

There should definitely be a pet/animal forum, with all of the pet behavior, buying and other advice continuously being asked in Lounge. Plus people could use it to show off their new pets, such as is done in Chit Chat, and to post animals up for adoption/sale as done in Classifieds. It would get way more use than Old School because it wouldn't have limited accessibility. And you'd have all of the pet information together in one place, instead of having to search for a particular thread, or begin a new one.I don't want to have to join another forum for pet stuff. I've been on TWW for a long time, with probably half or more of my posts devoted to pet/animal stuff. It's been a great website for my animal endeavours. Why not provide something that has been suggested several times, and obviously has a huge fan base. It'd be a great resource as well for those students moving into apts and want to get companions. And if there's that one main forum for pets perhaps there could be an increased interest in helping reduce unwanted pet populations. So it would help with: new pet owners, pet owners looking for homes for pets they can no longer care for, people that work with rescues and want to discuss events and resources, those looking for advice on pet care, behavior and where to buy/adopt a particular type of animal, animal care resources, etc. Instead of having to Google topics, it'd be nice to have them all concentrated in one section of a website I frequently visit, and that will provide local resources and information.I would agree that some sort of housing forum is just as needed (for ppl looking for rentals/homes, looking to sublease, decor suggestions, advice, landlord issue rants, etc), but those two are about it. So combine Old School into The Lounge and create Pets and Home and I think that'd do it.[Edited on July 22, 2006 at 11:38 AM. Reason : ]

for the last time, old school wasnt made to fill some great need and isnt supposed to be widely used. of course not as many ppl use it, IT IS RESTRICTED. what tinger described makes me want to see a pet forum even less. wow tons of threads of "look at my new dog" and the like. everything you described will either have countless duplicates or could be covered in about 5 threads. that doesnt sound like it needs its own forum to me. and again, large fanbases do nothing to show need for a new forum. boobies, concert listings, video games, free XXX, and others are all popular thread topics but don't need a new subforum.

TWW IS NOT A FUCKING ANIMAL SHELTER.
7/22/2006 12:43:41 PM
I can see how college students getting their first pets combined with having a vet school could lead to alot of pet related questions and discussions on this forum. But if you have a question about an animal or are trying to get a dog adopted/rescued, you might not reach as many viewers in a pet section that ppl actively avoid, whereas the lounge can pull in alot of people who might have had similar experiences but that aren't really big animal people who wouldn't be spending time filtering through a pet section to find the good topics.Or if you live in a certain area and want to announce your animal is lost, you could get flamed for doing it in the lounge or chit chat if we had a pet section, but you wouldn’t be able to reach the full audience of people who lived in that area if you cut out the people who don’t spend time looking at the pet section.

You definitely make some good points.Old School is pretty useless now though. It was fun at first when we were actually reliving stuff but now that everyone allowed into it has done that, there's no point to it. There are like 4 threads that have been posted in over the last two days.
7/22/2006 9:11:32 PM
That's because Mav deletes everything.
