7/8/2006 8:15:26 PM
69 started laying concrete blocks today. we'll be getting it some more tomorrow at 7 am [Edited on July 10, 2006 at 2:41 PM. Reason : .]
7/10/2006 2:41:00 PM
this garage big enough to do boatwork in?
7/10/2006 2:42:40 PM
28x36 big enough? 1008 sq ft. and at least 8 ft ceilings, i can get back to you on that one. that work?
7/10/2006 2:59:39 PM
Yeah that should be good. Take half of it and set it up as a spraying booth and you're golden
7/10/2006 3:31:07 PM
^^ 11' ceiling
7/10/2006 3:57:32 PM
^^ and nigga i got dibs on finishing my hobie in there first, matts gonna have to start renting that shit out
7/11/2006 10:46:49 AM
thats ok, I'm moving to Georgia at the end of the month where I'll have a garage of my own where I can begin my F18 build.
7/11/2006 10:57:05 AM
so we started on the wall yesterday. here's some progress pix. some homeless dudes showed up and started laying blocks, weird huh
7/11/2006 10:42:23 PM
you just gonna run all the wirin on the face of the walls? in conduit?
7/11/2006 11:42:39 PM
^ thats just the foundation wall, slab will be poured 4" down from the top of the third row, looks high on that side since its downhill and hasnt been backfilled and graded yet, just stick framing on top of that[Edited on July 12, 2006 at 12:55 AM. Reason : i look hardcore pissed in that pic, nigga i aint homeless, just not sure where mine is]
7/12/2006 12:54:27 AM
finished one wall tonight. pix up tomorrow maybe. uwharrie sat/sunday so no work those days.
7/14/2006 11:53:49 PM
so this is what me and 69 got done last night. i'm lazy so this is from my back window
7/15/2006 9:50:11 AM
since we got a pretty good discussion going on here, I've got a question for ya'll.I'm wanting to put one of those garage floor sealers/protection coatings on my new house garage before I change my oil and shit in there to make it all nasty like. You think these coatings are worth the cash?
7/15/2006 2:06:31 PM
those epoxies? my old neighbor had one and said he could just mop up oil if he spilled some. not sure what brand he used though.
7/15/2006 2:14:09 PM
Joel just did his floor....I wonder how its holding up. I want to do mine but I dont know if Jack stands and such would tear it up.
7/15/2006 2:38:17 PM
^that's my concern as well. i think they're nice for general use, but if you really tackle any major projects floors take a beating. i plan on just putting a good clear sealer on my floor.
7/15/2006 2:45:54 PM
there are some good commercial epoxies out ther that go on 1/8 to 1/4" thick that are tough as hell, we had that at my old shop in virginia, the only thing i ever did that chipped it was having a rockwell axle fall off a jack on a dump truck, and i dropped a hell of a lot of shit on it before that, if it isn't on new concrete, it needs to be media blasted and chemically seald first though
7/15/2006 7:27:28 PM
i thought you were building a garage? eh, looks more like a shed to me.
7/15/2006 9:22:27 PM
shit I'm not going to be doing anything heavy-duty in this garage. I just want to keep grease, oil, and resin from fucking up the floor.
7/15/2006 10:13:13 PM
id offer to help you guys if u just want someone to help put the stuff where u want it i got nothing better to do during the days anyways. im offering no expertise but im not a stupid homeless guy either
7/16/2006 11:49:27 AM
^^^ largest size that will fit on a property, i've never seen anyone park 3 vehicles with room to spare in a shed
7/16/2006 3:41:59 PM
^^^^ yup, it's just a shed good call
7/16/2006 7:55:47 PM
you back already nigga? you gotta check out my lift i finally finished up this morning, 9" rolling on 33's , looks retarded as hell, that was a lot of cutting, grinding, welding, and drilling for a bolt on kit, 12 hours to be exact, and one nasty infected gash on the back of my hand to show for it
7/16/2006 8:11:06 PM
69 you got pics?
7/16/2006 8:42:03 PM
7/16/2006 9:23:59 PM
i'll take some tomorrow, after i finish squeezing pus out of this gash on the back of my hand, matt's grinder attacked me
7/16/2006 9:24:20 PM
Yes them things get way pissed off sometimes [Edited on July 16, 2006 at 10:37 PM. Reason : .]
7/16/2006 10:37:25 PM
laying blocks right now. come check it out if yall want. pix later
7/19/2006 8:32:23 PM
I'd rather be laying pipe...
7/19/2006 8:35:37 PM
me too son. if it was raining hard i prolly would be right now
7/19/2006 8:36:45 PM
alright folks, got the front wall almost finished. pix:
7/20/2006 11:23:14 AM
I was planning to do my garage with that Home Depot stuff, but I might look at ucoatit instead. The HD stuff is only about $100 iirc.
7/20/2006 11:32:19 AM
at this rate . . . you might be done by christmas
7/20/2006 4:09:09 PM
foundation and slab are annoyingly slow, we dont have much time to work on it, the framing will take no time, maybe a weekend at the longest
7/20/2006 4:32:21 PM
I'm well aware of that . . . I've done my fair share of shit like this. Notice the face? But concrete blocks should go pretty fast too. Set the corners, then its just layin to the line which shouldn't be more than 30 seconds per block. Although I guess that time is for seomeone who does a lot of masonry work . . . which I used to do.but it's looking good for a part time project, especially with this heat.[Edited on July 20, 2006 at 10:58 PM. 7/20/2006 10:57:36 PM
a few hours a night after dark here and there takes some time, could probably knock it out in a day or so if we had time, backfilling and compacting is gonna be a bitch too, to get done in a day even with a loader and compacter, 25 tons of fill dirt and 19 tons of gravel are gonna have to go down next
7/20/2006 11:25:56 PM
This place got a roof on it yet?
8/1/2006 6:50:57 PM
nope just a wall so far
8/1/2006 9:04:24 PM
jeepman is out on a cruise ship beating his dick right now, aint done anything else in a while
8/1/2006 9:32:30 PM
lucky! LOL
8/1/2006 9:38:41 PM
i'll be back in a couple of weeks to help out and after helping add this second story to my mom's place...shouldnt be a big deal to continue working my ass off...maybe pull some work during the day if our schedules allow.
8/1/2006 10:36:29 PM
what's the budget on this?I just saw an Ad the other day for a 25'x30' steel garage prefab for $4995. I figure this is running yall a couple grand probably?
8/1/2006 10:45:41 PM
The convenience of steel buildings is nice, but they don't add value to a home the way a stick built will.
8/1/2006 11:13:10 PM
8/2/2006 3:12:34 AM
too fuckin hot to do anything outside now anyway
8/2/2006 9:01:01 AM
