badass.I will certainly be signing up and giving wachovia the finger.
12/21/2006 10:48:43 AM
I'll still keep my SECU account, but open up one of these as well. It'd be nice to be able to use a MasterCard where I can't use my Visa (though that's not usually a problem). I just would want a brick and mortar bank to go to until I get over my (and my wife's) fear of completely paperless banking.
12/21/2006 10:50:50 AM
yeah, i still use cash at times, and im cheap, so i want atms i can go to without being charged a service fee.
12/21/2006 10:52:38 AM
If you want a nice savings account...HSBCDirect. 5.05%.So I'd get this for checking and HSBC for savings...and win.
12/21/2006 11:01:37 AM
so this 4.5% is an annual rate?
12/21/2006 2:41:19 PM
yes
12/21/2006 7:55:54 PM
I just signed up for hsbc, but 5.3% sounds good too...http://www.amtrustdirect.com[Edited on December 22, 2006 at 12:17 AM. Reason : .]

Time to move my emergency fund out of my checking account. Anyone willing to help a guy open his first ING account?
12/25/2006 12:16:20 AM
Just call them up. Took me 10-15 minutes tops to set up a savings account and a CD with them.
12/25/2006 11:03:57 AM
I'm going to be opening an ing account, that electric orange checking was the final nail in the coffin. First person to PM me a referral gets it.
12/25/2006 11:19:33 AM
what's your email address?
12/25/2006 11:23:49 AM
shawna wins again.Anyone have any thoughts on ING's funds? I wonder if their strategic allocation fund is worth looking into.[Edited on December 25, 2006 at 11:36 AM. Reason : .]

what good is using a referral?
12/25/2006 6:12:31 PM
got plenty of referrals... PM me
12/25/2006 6:21:04 PM
sent a pm, but... what is the advantage of using a referral versus just signing up online?
12/25/2006 6:45:01 PM
with a referral the person who refers you gets 10 dollars and you get 25 dollars for signing up
12/25/2006 6:49:03 PM
i wish this was easier to pick what percentage of my 401k i want to go into what investment...aaaaaggh!!!high risk, low risk, mid cap, small cap OH THE PRESSURE
12/28/2006 2:05:45 PM
^ who manages your 401k? Most 401k managers have retirement-year funds set up now, like "2035" or "2040", based on the year you turn 60. Then you just throw all your money in that fund and it will be adjusted yearly based on short and long term risk. If not, your manager should have plenty of documentation and allocation suggestions for the risk level you want to take.
12/28/2006 2:40:52 PM
^ those funds tend to have high fees, btw.
12/28/2006 2:49:10 PM

so apparently you can sign up for electric orange nowif you log in and go to products, there should be a link to learn about electric orange if you're eligible.
1/2/2007 9:35:38 AM
What is electric orange?i used to use an ing account for a good bit, but dumped all the money out about 8 months ago.
1/2/2007 9:48:26 AM
it's a high interest bearing (3% vs. 0.75% for SECU) paperless checking account with no fees, ATM access, free billpay. Must be an ING direct member to use it. Going to sign up when I can't get the wife's account linked to mine. If you need a referral PM me.
1/2/2007 9:55:14 AM
i'm going to open an ING savings acct, if anyone has a referral they'd like me to use please send it my way
