i have never looked forward to a movie this much. on imdb people are talking a/b some advanced screenings theyve been too and it sounds incredible. there are some slight spoilers over there, but most of the posters are saying its the funniest most offensive movie they've ever seen. hopefully, it's not all edited up before its release.

Donny Deutch just interviewed one of the feminists that Borat talks to.

She thought that the movie was very funny and called it smart satire.

Never saw that coming...

I'm not sure which was funnier: the movie itself, or the kid who was running up the aisle that tripped and fell and sent his popcorn flying everywhere in front of a full theater.

Nevermind, running of the jews was funnier.

The flick got a HUGE bump in publicity this week. England lost to Macedonia 2-0, and in the process scored an own goal when a back pass jumped over Paul Robinson's foot and rolled into the net. Pictures were in every major European newspaper, and video was shown hundreds of times on sports shows all over the world.

set to be the funniest movie of the year? maybe the funnest movie of the new millenium?

who knows, but hearing clips and judging from the show, it can't be bad.

rottentomatoes.com has it rated as a 100% (even though it hasn't come out yet)

Sacha Baron Cohen, in the guise of his movie persona, Kazakhstani journalist Borat, has attended the London premiere of his movie, Borat: Cultural Learning's of America for Make Benefit Glorious Nation of Kazakhstan, addressing the awaiting rain-soaked crowd as "gentlemen and prostitutes." As he stepped from a mule-drawn cart, he remarked, "After this I stay in a hotel in Kings Cross, you must come and join me. We will all drink, wrestle with no clothes on and shoot dogs from the window." Later, speaking with reporters, he said, "I have come here with Bilak, my 11 year old son, his wife and their child, and we are hoping maybe to put some chocolate make-up on the child's face and sell him to Madonna. I am hoping that Madonna will be a very good father for it."

Sacha will be on tv alot this week and next. Not sure if he will be in character or not.
10-30 Monday - Letterman
11-1 Wednesday - Conan
11-2 Thursday - Daily Show
11-9 Thursday - Leno

Also:
Quote :
" LOS ANGELES (Hollywood Reporter) - Universal Pictures has won the intense bidding war for "Bruno," Sacha Baron Cohen's follow-up movie to "Borat."

Sources said that Universal is paying $42.5 million for the worldwide rights to the film. The price includes the production budget of the film, rumored to be in the $20 million-$25 million range. Also included is a significant profit-participation component for the film's participants, believed to be the 15% range.

The price has raised eyebrows in Hollywood because Baron Cohen's much-hyped "Borat" does not open until November 3. Despite much advance praise for "Borat," distributor Fox scaled back its Friday opening to about 800 theaters because it is concerned that the movie wasn't registering high enough in audience-awareness tracking.

With "Bruno," Baron Cohen is calling upon another of his comic alter egos, Bruno, a gay fashionista from Austria who fancies himself as "the voice of Austrian youth TV" and who sashayed from New York Fashion Week to Miami nightclubs in his previous appearance on HBO's "Da Ali G Show,"on which Baron Cohen also first introduced Borat to American audiences.

As in the case of "Borat," Jay Roach would produce with Baron Cohen. No director is on board, though it has been reported that Baron Cohen wants to shoot the movie during the summer."

Can't believe the deal he got before the movie has even come out. Good job Sacha!

i dont know if this has been mentioned...

but the film studios decided against a big release they had planned (2200 prints nation wide) and decided to go with only 800 prints. and then go wider with the full 2200 the next weekend. This way the word of mouth will increase awarness or whatever...

I was worried we wouldn't get a print at the grande, but .... we got one.

somehow crossroads still managed to get 2!
the new garner theater however isn't get a print.

tentative of course

My guess is going to be no, given the limited release of the film. But it's possible. Most theaters get their bookings in on Monday, so If you call them, they should have an answer by now.

Yeah, the sneak previews really have an impact on their actual bookings for opening weekend... how well the audience reaction/turnout for that market affects a lot of things.

if that sneak preview wouldn't have been packed, the raleigh area would have even less prints.

it is still surprising that they are getting two prints though....

i mean... out of 800.

Borat didn't host SNL but he did do the intro...I caught about the 2nd half of it...I did catch him saying

"Live from New York...home of the Jew...its Saturday night"

Also DVR'd him on Letterman last night...funny shit...I might condense and put on youtube if its not already there
