I like meat way too much to give a fuck about an animal's feelings

Drink protein shakes or eat protein bars

if i had to guess i'd say i get about 60 grams a day or so, sometimes i do have to go about 10 hours in between a meal though, is that ok?
6/14/2006 5:31:15 PM
Even if your protein is less one day, say 10 grams, your body will make up for it in the following days. The human body is more resilient than what most give it credit.[Edited on June 14, 2006 at 5:32 PM. Reason : a]

I get about 240g of protein a day85g of fatand I adjust carbs as neededit really just depends on the individual and his/her goals
6/14/2006 5:32:52 PM
The human muscle cell is 15-20% protein, 70-75% water, and the rest fat, minerals, vitamins, and glycogen.240g protein x 100%/20% = 1200g. There is no way you are gaining 1kg muscle per day. It seems your goal is just to eat that much protein in one day, without questioning the reprecussions on your liver or kidneys.
6/14/2006 5:35:47 PM
drink waterand it really doesnt matter how much protein you consume, you don't gain muscle (at least nothing substantial) unless you're eating a calorie surplus/above maintanenceThe ammonia is what is bad for your liver, the extra nitrogen is bad for the kidneys (by product of amino acid metabolism). There have been NO studies proving if this is toxic to us. If you have a healthy renal system I seriously doubt you could consume enough protein to cause damage. [Edited on June 14, 2006 at 5:49 PM. 6:30: protein shake (1 scoop protein = 31 grams and 8 oz water)7:10: Bowl of cereal (oats/honey/crunch type) with 1% milk10:00: Banana12:00: Turkey sandwich with 1 slice swiss cheese, tomato, lettuce, miracle whip some kind of friut(peace, strawberry etc) and a few sun chipsbetween 2-4: small snack (hand ful of almonds or peanut butter on a slice of whole wheat)5:45: sunflower seeds6:30-8: gym9: Dinner (1 chicken breast usually - maybe lean steak on certain days, either brocelli spears no cheese no butter or some type of green vegetable or peppers or salad)somewhere between here ill eat a small snack at times(celery sticks with ranch or i'll cheat and have an ice cream sandwich)and i drink way over 8 glasses of water per day and run 3 miles everyday plus weight lifting...I'm tryiing to keep muscle and get even more "cut" without losing weight11:00ish(not yet, but thinking about 1 more protein shake before bed)So do you think this is too much? Should i be cutting back?[Edited on June 14, 2006 at 10:14 PM. Reason : how does this sound]

Unless you eat like 20 eggs a day, its not going to make a fucking difference. Eat the yolk, get the other half of the protein and all those yummy vitamins.

Hey, lets all flip out about some eggs.

^^What are your goals?
6/15/2006 12:01:46 PM
I weight about 180 right now. I am fairly cut now. I am just getting back into the gym, i've been going 4-5 days a week for the past month and a half or so. i want to stay around 180-185..get rid of excess fat of not working out for the past like year(I was really active in high school and worked out all the time and continued into the first couple of years in college, but then slacked off. I'm not fat at all by no means. I went from 145 my freshman year(really skinny, ran alot, played soccer/had abs) to about 175 after graduation(abs started disappearing a little..still have mass and some shape). Like i said before, I pretty much want to stay at or around this weight, loss excess fat, and tone up big time. I dont want to be a big bodybuilder type at all. I usually don't care about lifting the most weight. I try to get in about 10-15 sets of every excersise i do and I do about 200-400 ab reps a day.

You could argue that humans evolved their brains to realize that they had to combine foods to get complete protein. The presence of a variety of teeth doesn't give us a reason to eat certain things-- it just means we can. We don't have the mouths for eating clams and lobsters and plenty of other things, but we've developed utensils and cooking methods to adapt to our environment and its resources.Personally, I think my hands are really well adapted to murder and petty larceny, but I prefer to think of those possibilities as options, not biological imperatives.

answer my question..damnit..please..haha
6/15/2006 1:22:51 PM
^^I think the point is that if we're designed to eat a certain type of food, we would probably get the most nutritional value of eating that food. If your body is designed to consume meat, then it probably expects meat to function optimally.[Edited on June 15, 2006 at 1:29 PM. Reason : durka durka]

My point is that humans are highly adaptable and can get proper nutrition from plenty of different diets. If you want to argue design, your body is "designed" (adapted) to expect protein and unless your body has some highly specific allergies, it doesn't discriminate between complete proteins in meat or complementary proteins from other sources.I guess it could be argued that we were designed to eat Big Macs. Let me know if anyone finds a gene for that.

Maybe he's practicing getting 200 in a minute to ace a PE exam.
6/15/2006 4:45:06 PM
i didn't mean to type every day, i only do that every other day. I do about 4 or 5 ab exercises with 3 or 4 sets of 20-25 reps.
6/15/2006 4:45:08 PM
6/15/2006 4:50:57 PM
i agree, you shouldn't work your abs every single day, I think he was referring to the fact that it's just like every muscle in the sense, it needs time to rest and build the muscle. If you work it everyday, then it is harder to gain anything.
6/15/2006 4:53:01 PM
Your abs can take a lot of punishment though, more so than most muscle groups.
6/15/2006 4:54:30 PM
yes that is true...alot of times i do back to back days, but too much of it will cause a less rapid change and like he was saying, you tend to work your abs while working out whenever you don't expect it in just about every work out you do.
6/15/2006 4:55:59 PM
^^no shit...like I said, just about everything indirectly hits your core areahotwolf nailed it with what I meant...DIRECT ab work, just like other muscle groups, should not be done everyday to allow proper rest and growthalso, I think it would probably be more beneficial (and this is also what I meant by "your abs are like other muscle groups") if you lowered the reps and sets and did 3-4 sets of 15 reps weighted decline crunches/ or reg. if you don't have a decline bench[Edited on June 15, 2006 at 5:31 PM.
