well, he has to be realistic and assume theyr'e NOT goign to get into the Big East for basketball... they've got enough teams, and there'd be absolutely no chance of postseason conference play...honestly, the idea of going to the CAA for all other sports and the Big East for football has merit, i'm kinda surprised they didn't try to pull it off during the expansion craze...

ECU was already in the CAA and left, but i guess they might come back. When Terry was on primetime he talked about improving sports at ECU. I believe him. I think skip holtz might turn out to be pretty good at coach.[Edited on June 6, 2006 at 9:53 PM. Reason : ?]

The idea behind putting basketball in the CAA is that the Big East football schools want to add another team for scheduling purposes (only have 8 teams now, so 5 OOC games), but the basketball schools won't want another school added to the basketball slate. The only way a team could get added would be as a football-only member, so that school would have to park all of their other sports in another conference. Since CUSA is an all-sports conference, ECU would have to move. That said, Holland has already stated that ECU is not looking to move into the CAA, so the sports would have to be put in another conference. Getting in a more localized conference would help out a lot for travel costs because sending non-revenue teams to Texas gets expensive after a while.
