unless mom is really good at secret keeping then don't include them

my fiance asked my parents permission and i started getting wedding stuff in the mail from my mom

the complete surprise was totally gone, i suspected every slightly romantic fun event

^ At least my theory was confirmed...keep mom out as long as possible. You'll be dealing with her for the rest of your life.

I had to get my mom's best friend's ring size for her once so she could pick up a gift for her. I called her up and told her my husband and I were having a discussion and asked her to settle it. I told her that we were debating on whether people's shoe size and ring size were the same. So, I asked her what size shoe and ring she wore and it was coincidentally the same so it made sense. Anyway, it was stupid and it seemed lame at the time, but it worked and she never knew what I was doing. Best bet is to think of something lame like that to do and try to act like you're just being cute or funny and she will never catch on.
