^^I know the rules state you're not supposed to "daisy chain"--as in have power strip plugged into another. Seeing how a single powerstrip/surge protector is okay, I can't imagine an extension cord would be a problem.

on topic: I wish they had a better supply of composition notebooks.

but they are. they're just not allowed. I mean as long as they're the gounded single outlet extension cords it really doesn't make sense though. It's the ungrounded multiple outlet cords that are dangerous (no ground and no breaker.)

We've got some computer microphones from logitech. did you want higher quality (like shure branded) ones?

Also, we sell creative muvo's. Was there a particular creative mp3 player you were interested in? we usually try to carry 3-4 non-ipod mp3 players during back to school, then scale back to just ipods during the year.

How about adding some decent drafting/sketching pens. Those Itoya and Staedlter pens are HORRIBLE! I suggest one or more of the following brands: Micron, Eberhard Faber, Alvin Pensticks. I can't count the number of times I needed a pen right away but had to wait until I drove to an art supply store.

they're always out of things I need when I go there, stuff like engineering paper, a certain sketch pad, and they NEVER had calipers

seriously I came back several times in one month and they were always out of calipers

^ My dear, we were being fucked in the ass by our suppliers. We had them on order well on time, and they didn't show up until the end of the year. It's something along the lines of small store syndrome. We're a tiny fish in a huge pond, and we get some shitty distributors sometimes.

We're trying to be better about all this right now, if I'm not mistaken, so we should be stocked proper for the fall.

^^ And the trick about those pens is that we're really not an art supply store. We try to carry some essentials and stuff required by certain professors, but we only have one section of wall in the whole store devoted to art stuff. I'm sure Charybdisjsmdirkadirkajihad will get some in there in the fall though, assuming they aren't overpriced from our distributors.

LEFT HANDED NOTEBOOKS!!!

Office Max is the only place I can find them. They used to sell Meade 5-Star ones with a spiral on the opposite side, but it seems they have now switched to having them where the spiral is at the top. Either way, I can't find ones with the 3-holes already punched in them anywhere. They are both 1-subject notebooks, I've never been able to find any 3 or 5 subjects.

Pleeeeease find some I will buy like 15.

I don't really have time to read through what everyone else has posted, but here are my two cents about the matter.

I don't personally need any of the specialty stuff that they offer, but it's great that they do.... but why can't they get the normal everyday stuff right? The paper they offer is rather annoying. A large percentage of it is recycled and very dingy looking... and usually the holes punched in the papers don't line up and some are missing.

Secondly, please stop ruining 95% of the notebooks that are sold by making them outragious colors with "girly" designs or whatever they're supposed to be (i'm sure you know what i'm talking about-- the ones that end up in clearance) It's great to have a notebook that reminds me that i'm going to NCSU, but are your sales really good enough to warrant the price hike?

Finally, when I go into the bookstore for pens/pencils/highlighters I have always left sadly disappointed... it's like they have all of this fancy stuff, but none of it is very reasonable or useful.

One last thought-- Graphing paper pads. Those are great for engineering classes, but the ones offered at the store aren't that great. I have often traveled to DUKE to their student store-- in the past it has been far superior to ours (notebooks, both binders and spiral are far more useful to the student). So, perhaps taking a look at what other schools in the area are offering could help you guys figure out a few changes.

Ok- I'm all done ranting. Great thread. Hope things change a little around the bookstore-- Might have to give it another try next year.

If it was clearence, they don't take them back. If it wasn't clearence, you can exchange the pack for another one. No refunds, but defective merchandise can be exchanged.

^I'll suggest the purchaser for school supplies take a trip to the duke store to get some ideas.
