that first guy you're talking about was asking for money in the Wolf Village parking lot a week or two ago. I had ordered dinner, and was out there picking it up. He stops, tells us his story, and I'm like, "All I got it my bank card", which I did. The delivery guy had a pocket full of change, and gave the guy probably $3-4 in quarters.

^it pisses me off when people like that taking money from hardworking people. If you want to make money that way, go to Cary or something.

"First time, it's this scrappy looking guy in his 40's in a little civic hatchback. He drives up to me at the Kangaroo off of Harrison and asks if I could lend him a few bucks for gas because he forgot his wallet after he just dropped off his son at NC State, and he got lost driving around trying to find I-40, and trying to get back to Greensboro. He didn't look/smell drunk, so I figured "What goes around, comes around"... So, I told him to pull up to the pump, and I went in and paid $5 for his gas. I ask for his name (Joseph) and waved him on his way."

He showed up to my store and tried that shit...once. When I got on the tannoy and told him "Excuse me Pump 8, but you're not allowed to hang around here and beg for money," he hit the PAY INSIDE key on the pump. When I paged him back with "Don't try to get cute with me and think that you can try to scam me out of some free gas, bubba--I have your plate number", he beat feet out of there.

^^Hopefully that won't catch on or else everyone will start asking for what they really want, and start getting it b/c they're being oh so honest.

It's bums like these that make me automatically on-guard if a stranger approaches me. An older woman asked me for a ride yesterday from Food Lion b/c she couldn't get in touch with her brother or son and was completely honest about it, but I had braced myself for a $ request. I'd like to be able to give someone money if it really seems like they need it, but opt usually for giving them whatever pocket change I have if I don't have time to get them what they're asking for (which is likely not what they want).

That black guy that asks if we're afraid of black people was outside Blockbuster one night. We said no and hurried to our car to avoid the money question so it probably looked like we were scared

I took a guy into a pizza place on Hillsborough St and he was honestly grateful to get the food, so that was cool.

Last week my husband and I were stopped by two teens in Crabtree Mall asking for taxi money and my husband gave them a dollar even though he had seen them coming from a car when we were parking. He'd rather avoid confrontation/awkard reply I guess. So this is our future....

I once had some guy give me this story about how his car broke down because _______ part broke and he needed to buy a new one at the auto parts store. I said I wouldn't just give him the money, but I'd drive him to the store and buy it for him, and of course he said nevermind and went off. Well actually he accused me of being racist and then went off.

At least you didn't just give them the money, although you still probably got scammed. Its always best to find a non monitary way to help someone (give them a ride, let them use your cell phone instead of giving them money for a call, etc.).

Ya boy with the silver hatchback civic was at the Walgreens at corner of Harrison and Maynard in Cary yesterday around 4ish. He got my attention as I was walking to my car and started with, "I'm from Greensboro..." Soon as I heard that I waved and politely said, "Have a nice day!" I got a call on my cell so I didn't jet right away and noticed he hit up like 5 other people before he took off. I don't wish anything bad upon him. I'm just sharing my experience. Carry on.

I like to believe that people always do their best in life, even if they're clearly not.

I used to live on Park Ave behind the YMCA. We had people walk up all the time asking for money for food or a ride. They were greedy though if you gave one of them something you would notice that alot more would show up the next few days. I had one guy as me to help him move some stuff for him to a new appartment one time. I thought he was going to ask me for money but i listen and helped him out. took me 25 minutes and we moved a desk TV and couch. the guy gave me 50 bucks. sometimes it pays to listen.

The story with gas i was at the shopping area where the old police station used to be on Avent ferry. A guy walked up to me with a gas can asking for gas so he could see his son play ball. I gave him 2 bucks and came back a hour later son of a bitch asked me again for money.
