first off.. the whole message of the thread points at all school counselors and therapists. that's not even fair to begin with. there are plenty of school counselors and therapists who are very good and helpful people, and i'm sure that there are a lot of them that are totally useless. funny thing is this thread isn't even about them anymore, but that's how it usually goes on here.

I'm sure there is an exception to the rule, but in all my 12 years of normal school and 3 years of college, I have never once met anyone in the counselor/therapist field who was even remotely competent or useful. That's not a vast body of evidence, but it's enough to make me a little bit doubtful that there are enough good counselors to warrant keeping them around.

Porbably my biggest objection to school counselors in high school is their focus on college-bound students.Our work-bound high school students need guidance too. In fact, they may need it the most.
