It's pretty funny to read their comments on IC. Out of all the posters there, maybe one person know what's actually going on. Most of them are just like, "NCSU hacked the poll! They wrote a computer program. Can someone do this for us?" Ahaha. It's not that hard to figure out, fools. This thread is not exactly hidden.

^^^^IC found the poll and is trying to skew it.They also can't figure out why DT is number 1.

i'm guessing the acc skewed this poll[Edited on May 11, 2006 at 1:32 AM. Reason : i'm gonna look up david thompson on wikipedia]

i'm guessing ESPN creates poll just to get hits from message board fans who link it for their team. i doubt they ever check the resultsUNC seems to be getting all worked up. one guy claims he manually voted 100 times
5/11/2006 1:59:55 AM
UNC is doing some hardcore skewing now! Let's go people....

Awwwww, voted manually.... How quaint. Why don't they just use their media arm (ESPN) and fix the poll anyway. Isn't that what normally happens?

It's funny how no matter who you vote for, Dean Smith and Roy Williams are italicized.... hmmmm, I smell a rat.
5/11/2006 3:39:41 PM
Someone's hacked the page to always vote for Dean Smith and Roy Williams.... Leave it to the liberals to take away free speech.... Communist bastards!
5/11/2006 8:34:39 PM
^Yeah, that confused me too:
5/11/2006 8:43:47 PM
It's one thing to skew a poll, but it's completely wrong to deny people their right to vote freely. ESPN will be getting an email from me.

^which will say what?"while i was trying to skew one of your polls by voting repeatedly thru a computer program, i came to the realization you are setting up the poll and cheating to let who you want win. please fix it so that i can cheat fairly"
5/11/2006 9:35:04 PM
Nobody has "hacked the poll," idiots. There may be a glitch in the poll or the server may be overloaded, but that's about the extent of it.
5/11/2006 9:52:26 PM
^There's only one guy claiming the poll was hacked, and calling him an idiot isn't cool.
5/11/2006 9:54:00 PM
Thanks Bridget. I seriously have a feeling it has been hacked, since I've had several people complain to me about the same thing all day. Yesterday it worked fine. Today, no matter whether you put in one person or vote for four, it only italicizes Dean Smith and Roy Williams. Coincidence, glitch...I don't think so.As for being called an idiot, it doesn't really bother me. Calling someone an idiot on the internet is equivalent to shouting in the middle of the forest. You are making a lot of noise, but you're still alone and you're getting nowhere fast. I'll stick by my assumption that it is hacked until someone proves otherwise.
5/11/2006 10:05:31 PM
if it were only voting for them, I'd think they would be ahead of David Thompson right now. it's probably just a glitch in the results page and not in the ballot.
5/11/2006 10:14:37 PM
It's just funny that that becomes the logical conclusion for people who don't really know what's going on. "Someone hacked it." "My computer has a virus."Skewing a poll is one thing. Modifying the code of a national site to generate false votes is quite another. It's not necessarily a trivial thing to do. You're broadcasting this "hack" as if it were fact.[Edited on May 12, 2006 at 2:43 AM. Reason : ]
5/12/2006 2:43:14 AM
looked the guy up on wikithe guys name is skywalker
5/12/2006 2:52:14 AM
Well it would seem to me that the fact is someone changed the code on the site to automatically vote for Dean Smith and Roy Williams NO MATTER WHO YOU CHOOSE. I have tried several different combinations of votes, on several computers and they all come back with the same result. That, to me, is not a glitch. It would be a glitch if it were randomly voting for different people other than who you chose, not the SAME TWO EVERY TIME! Call it what you want, but this is no accident. It is intentional. The poll had no credibility to begin with because it had Roy Williams on there. No way does he belong on there with the other coaches mentioned. His name on there was merely to get UNX "fans" interested in the poll and generate more hits. Don't be suprised if Hansblow is in a similar poll next year about the "greatest players of all time".... FUCK CAROLINA!
5/12/2006 8:28:59 AM
OK, there is something wrong here. WE ARE THE ONES WHO SKEW POLLS AND WRITE CODES. Why is this emo-idiot being allowed to do this to the poll?Allowed by us i mean. This is our fucking territory here folks.
5/12/2006 8:35:37 AM
It's true. Let's go people.Red team! GO GO GO GO GO GO GOFuck this shitty site up! GO GO GO
5/12/2006 8:36:50 AM
you know...if it was some nc state fan that messed with the code to let it vote for DT all the time, you guys wouldn't have a problem with it.
5/12/2006 8:47:09 AM
I would be questioning it. I really would. I have a problem with Roy "The Cash-Money Man" Williams being on the list at all.
5/12/2006 8:48:28 AM
^^I wouldn't have a problem if it were a State fan doing it for DT. It would be fitting for one of us to STICK IT TO THE MAN since we don't have a say-so in sports media.
5/12/2006 9:14:43 AM
li had this problem (with DS and Roy being italized) yesterday, but this seemed to stop the problem:load the ballot page, select four candidates (DT, Naismith, Wooden, and Rup)click "submit"it's shows your four choices in italics.click "back" to go back to the ballot page. Your original choices are still selected.Refresh the ballot pagere-select four candidates. re-submit.i did this about ten times, just to see if it would clear the glitch. The results page only showed my choices in italics
5/12/2006 9:58:25 AM
mine is still showing Just Da Satan in italics.
5/12/2006 10:14:48 AM
I have tried it in Firefox and IE and no matter who I choose, only Dean Smith appears in italics. I think it is a glitch in the page refresh. My guess is that someone is using a program to continuously vote for Dean because the number of votes is going up at a pretty consistant (though unrealistic) rate.Is there anyway to hack the results page to switch the text string "David Thompson (NC State)" to associate with the vote 66456 instead of 66457? That way, DT's name will appear by Dean Smith's vote count and anyone voting for Dean would appear to be voting for DT.
5/12/2006 10:20:27 AM
Actually, if you just sit and hit refresh on the results page, you will see different names in italics. The italicized words are not your vote, they are the last vote. Usually this is only Dean Smith, though occasionally, other random names appear in italics. This probably means somebody is using autorefresh to vote for Dean because they couldnt figure out how to select multiple boxes in their program.
5/12/2006 10:26:50 AM
how is it now? is it getting better?
5/12/2006 10:38:56 AM
dude...ThompsonKrzyzewskiNaismithWooden...if those are your votes, did you really have to include K?
5/12/2006 10:49:28 AM
What would be worse for a UNX fan than to see K above their guys.... hahahahahahhahaaPlus, those aren't my votes anyway...I don't think.[Edited on May 12, 2006 at 10:50 AM. Reason : ]

5/12/2006 11:01:17 AM
how in the fuck can anyone even a UNC fan put Roy ahead of Wooden. DT was the greatest player in CBB history, thats why we are voting for him. I dont think any of us would vote for Norm Sloan (about the same comparison as Roy) to be on the list. Dean Smith? ok...Roy Williams - give me a fucking break, he shouldnt even be on the damn list (1 nat champ with an NBA AllStar Team that you didnt even recruit, WOW). Im sure dumbass lazy eye Stuart Scott made sure he was on teh list, DAMN I HATE ESPN
5/12/2006 11:08:07 AM
This is bad.The "thompson/wooden/krzyzewski/naismith" autopost is apparently on a slower server than the dean autopost. If only we could hack the websidestory module to find the IP address of the DEANBOT and then ping the hell out of that IP
